- Comic series is good (The one this is based on).
- Enjoyable cast.
- Very vibrant and colourful.
- Space opera when these have been rare in current Hollywood.
- Funny
- Looks to be good action

It doesn't strike me as a space opera, at least not much more than the recent Star Trek films and they were very far from it.
It's also quite weird having this be labelled as "vibrant and colourful" and "good action" and the Jupiter Ascending threads being filled with "lol, bomba".

Not saying that the points you have raised aren't valid, just that it just seems like lots of the hype is simply coming from the OMG a Marvel movie in space!!! category.

Without sounding like a troll can I ask why are people so excited for this (apart from Whoo Marvel?). I mean it looks like a standard sci-fi flick?

To add to what the others have said, all of which I agree with, it actually uses real sets and practical effects instead of being entirely CG.

This in addition to the other stuff has also drawn comparisons to Star Wars...which most Sci Fi movies do not get compared to.

.

Agreed with the double standard here. I also contributed to that in the Jupiter ascending thread while I thought this looked cool

Fwiw tho that will probably have even better action tho. One thing they haven't declined in is action scenes

Plus it looks like a legit space opera. More than this or the Star Trek movies

It's no Jupiter Ascending.

More like Jupiter Descending, amirite?

so I just check out Jupiter Ascending trailer, and yeah, not really feeling it. seems like a mess or just to complicated or trying to do too much. I'm still not sure what that movie is all about. also, the trailer seems trying to hard to sell you the world building and not enough spent on the characters

on the other hand, galaxy seems have a simpler, easy to understand plot, and the focus of the trailer are on the characters, and most importantly, that they're fun character, watching the trailer just give me the feeling it will be a fun movie.

also, I really wouldn't call Jupiter Ascending "Vibrant and Colorful" compared to Guardians.

Thank god they finally show some lines in context. The end was great because of that. The delivery suffers from too many cuts.

I have a gut feeling that the "We're the freakin' Guardians of the Galaxy!" line will be changed to fucking in the final product.

A standard sci-fi flick? I donÂ’t give a crap about most Marvel movies and even I canÂ’t wait for this to come out. It just looks like a long overdue, much needed breath of fresh air.....

The fact that the movie seems like it’s not taking itself too seriously is a huge bonus and it’s just got a ‘cool’ vibe. The chemistry between the characters also looks to be amazing.

Marvel is on fire with these hero movies, i dont care about comics but i looooove the films.
Captain America, Iron Man, etc.

For me it's..
The two main leads.
Too much earth: The plot revolves around it(green lantern).
Art design doesn't grab me.
Takes itself too seriously: Not a good idea when you're trying to pass off Mila Kunis as queen of Earth or Mars or whatever.

I want to say it looks like the Collector is showing the Guardians all of the Infinity Gems and what they do.

Takeaways:

- Chris Pratt is the next Sam Worthington
- Humour isn't very good.
- That's supposed to be Drax the Destroyer?
- Villain looks like another Malekith who wants to destroy the galaxy.
