If a single bullet could cause the same catastrophic damage over miles and miles the same way a nuke, bio or chemical weapon could then maybe your comparison would be valid.

But we have seen that certain types of guns are frequently used to take down a large number of human targets, yes? That not every gun is equally deadly in a situation of mass violence?

It will never be settled. There will always be those that want such power solely in the hands of the Government.

There are things that are better given to the hands of a democraticalyl elected body instead of a series of uncontrolled individuals, yes. Is this really a point of contention?

So distance is the main consideration here?

Regardless, some weapons should be restricted to a small set of people and some weapons shouldn't be in use at all. WMDs are just an extreme to illustrate this.

Man, the idea of 3D printing actually fills me with dread.

Such a dangerous and stupid idea if not properly regulated (and we all know that people will find a way around restrictions anyway...)

So can I carry around enough chemical weapons to kill only a single person? Should there be a market for small chemical grenades that will kill an intruder that enters your room?

side note, out of over 11,000 gun deaths in america in 2012, only 300 people were killed due to assault rifles.

there is an ulterior motive there, its pretty obvious
