Halo 4 Master Chief new design revealed (Toy)

Official pics are much sexier. Why keep the scratch on the front plates if MJOLNIR can shape itself? I understand it's iconic and shows there's been shit happening to him before Halo4 but it pretty much kills any possible nanoshit from looking serious.

I'd rather see Cortana having used tools available in the ship to get the Chief ready for new challenges.

I like this a lot :
One of the Master Chief’s most notable physical characteristics is that he’s wearing 800 pounds of tank and jet fighter
Putting on your helmet should feel like powering up an F-15E….

Thrusters as a default gameplay option and faster speed?

This not so much, sounds The Chief's story was written by Dickens :
The Chief’s origin is pretty sad and grim: A strong, vibrant child stolen from his parents, he underwent dangerous bioengineering that destroyed the weaker of his friends, and trained to stomp out human Insurrectionists.

Give me space fucking opera, not sentimentalist bullshit.

Nanomachines.

No. I'm not joking.

Why keep the scratch?

Does Cortana conrol nanomachines telling them, it looks like a scar and is a tribute to those who have been through the original trilogy?

I have an easier time picturing Cortana playing around with the Chief's armor while he cryosleeps, and stripping some plates and retooling them, having picke up enough data from the Chief's ability in combat to improve its MJOLNIR accordingly (maybe a hint of Forerunner savoir-faire since she's learned so much it kills her)

It actually would make more sense at this stage if it was explained that Cortana managed to make the changes during the long cryo sleep. The ship would have engineering bays and all that. The idea that she used the ships tools to reweild the suit is something I could live with to be honest. It does seem like a stripped down version of the last suit, so that makes sense.

Nanomachines
alone would be such a bad explanation.

From the information we've been given, so there may be something we're missing, I can't figure out a reason for changing the suit other than just to change it.

From what we've seen of the concept art that was released way back in August, humanity is going to arrive at some point in the game. If 343 wanted new armor for whatever reason, they could've made it so 343 arrives with a new armor. A much better explanation than
nanomachines[/url].

I just hope that this "new" armor doesn't have a slower shield recharge rate than the Mark VI. That wouldn't be much of an improvement.

You forgot the butt plate.

i hope this means that the chief will get a double jump
Signs point to yes.

343i needs to promote Halo4 without spoiling too much while showing it's new and fresh game. No matter what the canon says, 343i wants their Halo to be more mature, sleeker, darker than Bungie's.

This armor is pretty much what the bulletin says it is : 343i vision of what the Chief is/needs to be.

I'm not counting out armor changes during the game or something akin to Reach's armory being available in SP whether it fucks the canon or not (it's just a game).

Shields and the black part you see is an armoured body suit with a gel layer that can change density underneath.

That's pretty neat. I'm disappointed I never got into the lore of the Halo Universe. Books, etc. It seems like a really cool Sci-Fi series.

It's a complete joke that things like this are being revealed through the medium of plastic toys and not trailers and actual media.

@grim: i think someone wrote earlier that it is explained in the new glaslands novel

when in cryo, the armor has the ability to "change" its shape with nano technology

if thats true, its pretty stupid and a retcon.
Nope. It only says the armor upgrades itself. So nothing specific was said.

doesnt make it any better. where did the armor get the parts to produce a jetpack/thrusters?
the armor looks like some parts of the h3 armor were dropped and rearranged (maybe because some parts were damaged?).

Why not just wait when the game launchs? We know nothing how the Chief gets his new armor but Frankie said that there will be a explanation for it. Nanotechnology can be only one part of it?

of course i will wait for the final game before i judge things. but it just seems stupid to give the chief a new armor while he is in cryo. he and cortana are on one half of a destroyed ship, the chief is in cryo and cortana is in that console, linked to the destroyed ship. with that setup i just dont see how they can explain his new armor (and thrusters) in a decent way.

Fuck that. Give me food nipples, or give me death.

Food nipples, YES! and Pink please.

Ok Frankie? don't play the overly dramatic card Bioware uses in Mass Effect.

Nanomachines are to sci-fi what magic is to high fantasy, only great if properly used.
I'd rather picture old-school star wars drilling and tooling, rather than nanomachines. if nanomachines are used, the suit should be pristine and possibly more organic looking (why not fuse the armor and the cyborg pyjamas, then if nanomachines can rework structures at an atomic level whithout auxilliary help and at very low temperatures?)

Nanobots
and again its a perfectly acceptable answer that does not touch previously established canon and from what i can see the only reason you wont accept it is your own disdain for the aforementioned explanation.

Its more than fine to assume that 1 of 2 things happened.

Cortana got bored and manipulated

Wondering if Cortana could have built a robot suit using nanomachines and the latest porn videos for structure templates (latest sex gizmos! MJOLNIR MARK XXX)from the ship to engage in frantic nanopowered sex with the Chief.
Hopefully she would be gentle with his cryogenized spartan augmented barely plated yet awesomely crotched dick.
The battle scar could have been repaired by the nanomachines, and the one on the new armor was caused by Cortana having a taste of angry sex?

Makes me realise the Halo bulletin should have added than in addition to being kidnapped, "tortured" etc... the Chief may still be a virgin?!

all you really need:

Cryptum
Primordium
Contact Harvest
Fall of Reach
Combat Evolved
First Strike
Halo 2
Ghosts of Onyx
Halo 3
Glasslands

Comics, serious business!
I'm a casual Halo fan, so please discount my opinion.

My problem with Halo has always been that Master Chief already controls as if he has a double jump, especially compared to Unreal, Quake, CoD, Battlefield, etc. This has always disoriented me and makes the game feel slow relative to the other games. I set my controls to 10 and I still feel like I'm playing underwater. I'm not saying Halo should aspire to be more like the faster, twitchier shooters. I'm just saying that Chief needs more speed on the x-axis, not a bigger oomph on the y-axis.

I think the suit looks great but that butt plate makes sitting look painful. If he fell on his ass he would break his tailbone.

The thrusters have always been there. The books even mention them.

If the thrusters are going to play a part in gameplay I wonder if we'll see some zero gravity sections in the campaign?
Fighting in zero gravity, dead space style, might be fun for short bursts.

At the very least I hope that the movement speed is significantly improved.
