Halo 5 November Update Sneak Peek

That's true, Halo 4 did add in some Forge maps without it counting, same with Reach. But then again they stated that 18+ (just checked the actual amount listed) were coming post launch, no mention of DLC. I think these guys count as 4 with the "+" meaning Community maps coming post-Forge launch.

I think the plus just means they're not sure how long they'll do DLC. It depends what the player base is in a year and how many REQ packs people are still buying. If they can't justify it, they'll probably make more maps.

So is there confirmation that these Forge maps are part of the DLC maps that all those REQ packs are paying for?

I certainly hope not. =(

I really hope that Aim fixes works because I am really sick of the game feeling like aiming is actively working against me.

So will all BTB maps be these Forge-esque creations? If so, that's a real bummer.

Looks like it. Some of these look pretty basic. If req is funding these, I'd expect better. Will wait for more images I guess.

the fuck?????

Exactly. That second one...

I mean, if you're talking about the road specifically... it was made in forge so the road looks artificial and goofy. I think overall the map won't look bad in game, and should be fun to play on.

Please don't try to excuse that image.

So wait are a significant portion of the free DLC maps going to be forge maps? That would be disappointing. I wish these forge pieces had textures or something. Oh well they're free.

Also have we heard if there's going to be any way to play other people's forge maps in halo 5? Like playlists for user created maps?

So far we know of 2 arena remakes of The Rig and Fathom that they showed off in the Sprint and these 4 Forge BTB maps. I hope they actually spend time making real maps for this and don't use Forge.

also the city warzone map

We are getting New Maps, don't worry. Look at my above Post about Frankie stating that we are.

also the city warzone map

They owe me that and 2 other Warzone Maps...I don't think retooling a map and changing it's skybox for a new mode counts as a new map...

For BTB? I hope so, only mode I care for as I only play arena in small doses (it's fun though). Sadly warzone makes me want to break my controller so I stay away. Appreciate the info!

Orion (RIP), Pegasus, and the Breakout maps counted as part of the 21 launch maps, so there's a chance.

I wish they outsourced BTB development to Certain Affinity.

Eh.... their Halo 4 maps were okay so maybe.

I hope the Forge team adds some texture packs or something to Forge because this toy look is very jarring. It's one thing to have plain pieces, but the way they're lit makes it very unconvincing.

Wait a minute so there really is a aiming problem! Thank the lord! I really thought I hve grown to old for good aim. Man now I am really excited.

What's the beef with war zone?

It's too large and dependent on more randomized elements of game play along with the new AI. BTB is in essence a larger Arena style of play, along with allowing for vehicular combat, something you just cannot get in Arena right now and isn't as integral to Warzone. There's nothing wrong with Warzone, but BTB is there in addition to it.

So if you don't want to essentially play PvE/12v12 Strongholds with REQ system in Warzone, you can play 8v8 slayer or 8v8 CTF in BTB, with warthog, banshee, etc.

There is an issue with some people's controllers that contribute to the aiming problem. If you haven't noticed slow turn, chances are there's nothing wrong with the aiming, you're just not used to the extremely low aim assist and changes to the game.

Though I don't know, I haven't experienced many issues with the aiming. What do you feel is the problem with it?

I love the minimalist look to all the new Forge stuff. Means it's going to come off cleaner despite hundreds if not thousands of forge objects at play and it'll sure as hell let it age better than something like Breakneck.

it already looks outdated

clean is good, and the terrain looks nice, but the objects themselves appear as though they're unfinished, like the game is putting temporary lighting over a mass out in 3DS max.

I guess I'm the only one who liked Reach's Forge textures. They were grey, yes, but provided more interesting detail without looking completely flat and ugly like these pieces do.

This actually sums up my problem with the Forge pieces.

What's the beef with war zone?

As an Arena focused player who values armor unlocks above everything else in the REQ system, I typically sell all of my Warzone stuff to allow me to unlock more armor faster. That said, I still love the vehicle gameplay in Halo, I just hate having to burn cards that could instead be sold towards more packs to be able to engage in it. So having an Arena mode with its own maps and dedicated equal vehicle spawns will be amazing for me, and certainly interests me more than Warzone which I currently only play when I want to earn as many REQ points as I can in the span of a few hours.

For me, it felt too slow making small movements even at the highest sensitivity and too wild for bigger movements. Even just moving around without shooting at enemies, the aiming feels weird. I went back to play some 4 to see if i was going crazy and it feels a million times better. 5 is probably the most trouble I've had aiming in a FPS since PS2 gen. Like some other people said, I felt like I was fighting the controls more than other players.

Same here. Went back to 4 and plays like a dream, have no issue with 3, 2 or 1. I can't get the hang of halo 5s aiming for the life of me. I'm a fairly competent fps player, hell, I've been able to pick up and play most of these games since soldier of fortune II way way back, but not this one. I do alright in arena still, but everything feels so off. Ruins me for when I try going back to battlefield or destiny.

As a disclaimer, I'm not saying it sucks, or that it's bad or anything like that. I'm just having a rough go at it. Even when I do well, it doesn't feel natural (to me).

Yeah they said close and mid were perfect during the beta But when doing long shots it got squirrly so they changed it. Lol...

Sometimes you dont listen to pros.

I miss the betas aim . felt perfect but i do admit i sucked with the snipe. (stil do) lol

Br for lyfe

It's on purpose so that you can use a lot of objects in a map without your console catching on fire.

If you had forge pieces with the complexity of even Halo 3 art team objects, you'd run out of perf pretty fast. It's why most Forge pieces were based off actual Halo 2 geometry objects..

i know it's for performance. obviously less polygons = less stress on the engine.

it still looks like cheap. all of the improvements made to Forge are going to be marred by its aesthetics and nobody is going to take the maps seriously.
