I've had it happen in campaign, thankfully that's an enemy Elite riding that. It just seems like a general flub with the physics, not necessarily dealing with Forge objects, but they don't help.

People were excited for Solitary when it was announced. Crazy times back then. Jet-pack destroys a lot of map. Second worst AA.

I like Solitary in FFA with no Jet-packs, but as you said jet pack destroys maps. Why walk anywhere, when you can fly over everything!
