It is just my personal belief that all AA's should be forced into tactical use only.

If you use Camo and it were to take out your shields, that would definitely prevent you from using it and engaging at the wrong moment.

If Promethean Vision didn't allow you to shoot while it's in use, or didn't provide life movement data of enemies you sure as hell would use it more carefully.

If Jetpack merely allowed quicker map movement, and no air assault, being defenseless in the air would again make you use it more carefully.

Thrusters should damage you if you thrust into objects, you need to be more aware of your surroundings.

You get my point. The AA's shown have so little downside to their use as of now that they encourage spamming and use at anytime and anyplace. Make AA's more strategic and punish someone who doesn't use them correctly.

Rockets have a long reload time, only two shots per clip, and only 2 clips. But in Reach, they were still basically at least 4 easy kills because of damage and spread. 4 seems to be fixing that by decreasing at least spread and speed.

Sniper has never been difficult to use. 2 shot kill is easy to use, not hard. Sniper should keep knock out, and either have dramatically decreased accuracy outside of scope or be a 3 shot kill with body shots and slower fire rate. Make the sniper a high risk, high reward weapon.

Shotgun needs to do no damage outside of a very small range.
 
How about you move at incredibly slow speeds with camo on?
I mentioned that in the last thread, and the idea was laughed at.

Reserving this post for when Camo is an AA and nothing about it has changed. :p
They should just restructure the AA completely and have it make you the other team's color. At least then there would be more of a risk of having your own team taking shots at you if there's no communication.

I hope that's a feature they've made a determined effort to improve. Things like

- Upload to Youtube
- Skip to highlights (say a killtac happens at 2.50 or a flagcap at 4.10, you'd be able to skip straight to it)
- Inbuilt montage maker

- The ability to watch movies with friends in the lobby

would really show a discernable leap in the five years since we were first greeted by this excellent feature.
Would be most ridiculous/awesome, but i seriously doubt it's gotten any sort of major overhaul.
I complain about garbage playlist management and terrible pre-release marketing, not people who engage in legitimate discussion.

Look, I know you're a struggling artist or whatever, and I know Frankie has a position of power at a major developer who hires people like yourself. I get the relentlessly positive and defensive posts about 343. It's smart. But at a certain point you don't have to defend 343 every single time someone offers a suggestion you don't like. Just skip their post. Put people on ignore if you have absolutely no self-control. People have opinions.



I'd hire you to build the sandbox and juices to run the playlists. Plywood can make gifs for the weekly update. Overdoz will be head of my translation department. Risen can be head of barbeques.

AA's all have a good mashup of plus and minuses and do balance nicely. Really none are overpowered they just are in hands of teams of 5 inheritors. Teams you'd get destroyed by anyways even without AA's.

In sort of the same light, this is a problem with a lot of the design that went into Reach.

When you play casually, the game seems fine. Sorta.

But as soon as you play at a higher level shit gets undone.

Though some things are broken at all levels

You are literally attempting to "balance" power weapons... such that they are no longer power weapons. This line of thinking belongs in another game... not Halo - where from the beginning, power weapons were INTENTIONALLY powerful.

The ONLY way to balance power weapons in Halo is by limited use (ammo capacity), frequency of spawn, and location of spawn. End of debate... there is nothing about a power weapon's use in Halo, that cannot be adequately addressed by the above three things.

The extension of your logic takes power weapons, and relegates them to just slightly more powerful weapons that have a very small area of effect, and are niche weapons at best.

Which is why I feel like the marketing and info reveals have been lackluster up to this point.

When they talk about something new or something being changed it seems like it is always taken out of context and then it has to be clarified but it doesn't get clarified through any official channels. It'll be a forum post, a tweet, a note in a jar, etc. All the media and info so far has felt very scattered rather than cohesive which leads to people having to put together all the pieces together.

"Want news and updates? Check out these random groups of peoples impressions! See they played for a bit and liked it!"

"Want direct footage? Well someone recorded more offcam footage over some kids shoulder!"

"Want legitimate questions answered?"
  • Where can I play the game [at the event where the game can be played]?

Agreed, things have been released in a very awkward and often times confusing manner.. On top of that most of the showings have been pretty lackluster, e3 excluded.

As far as AAs go I really only use sprint as some others have said and even sprint I don't like that much. I think you actually have too much sprint, I would like to see a sprint more like COD where it runs out faster.

I believe it would elimnate sword sprinting/lunging as well as double melee beat downs out of no where which I absolutely hate in Reach.

I wouldn't surprised if Territories is rebuilt/retooled so much that they don't even refer to it as a returning gametype.

Shouldn't the metric for success in a Halo game be how popular the game is across Xbox Live? Just a quick glance at the Unique Users per week/month should be able to show that Reach fell off the wagon.
Except that the UU's don't actually show any numbers so they are pretty useless. The install base is massive, and there are more and more AAA game now that are played for a long time by a lot of people. Halo 3 was number 1 or 2 for it's entire lifespan, but Halo 4 could sit at #3 for it's entire lifespan and more people would be playing it than ever played Halo 3.

You can't just say that Halo needs to be #1 on the UU list. The Xbox player base has grown and the number of AAA games has grown.

I suspect the Gears Community...... No but for real its been an issue with Pro Streams for awhile now so its most likely the same people.

Or its Team D-bags who like to "jack" xbox live accounts and then pretend to be cool because they are "informing people of a glitch in the system"

That ignores the fact that almost every weapon we refer to as a "power weapon" has some negative associated with it. Rockets suck at long range. Sniper is only a one-shot-kill if you can hit the head. Shotgun/sword require you to be in CQC. Hammer requires you to be host. Laser has to charge before it fires (and on occasion projects a red line that paints the target). Grenade launcher requires accuracy and timing. etc etc.

I disagree with Shadow's desire to force those weapons even further into the specific roles that they have, but there are certainly more ways to control the effects that power weapons have on the game than ammo, frequency, and location.
