Halo Reach E3 Trailer [M-CONF]

I do browse the OT of course! I just don't usually pay attention to the gaming section other than the Halo threads.
Gotcha. I don't read too many gaming side threads either, but I wanted to make sure the OT was known to you, as a lot of GAFers stick to the gaming side only. The OT is a treasure trove of joy.

A bit off topic, but I think the best OT thread was CerealKiIIers GF thread. The guy said his GF cheated on him. Turned out he cheated on her before he made the thread. Then Mama Robotnik made all those GIFs. Man I wish I could find that thread. :lol

Found it. Truly an epic thread.
Holy shit that was epic. Mama Robotnik's gif trilogy...:lol

The OT is an amazing place. That's for sure!

Halo Reach Beta was totally in the background of the new Entourage tonight :D

Speaking of, is the montage still being worked on? Haven't heard anything about it in a while.

WTF? How'd I miss that?

When they go in the trailer on set, drama and turtle are playing xbox, its blurry but you can totally make out an AR on swordbase.

Yea I saw the controllers in their hands but I wasn't even paying attention to what they were playing lol

Drama gave Turtle a hard time over the lack of AA, but said the gameplay felt like Halo.

"Most disappointing product placement ever."

Does Netflix come free with TJ membership?

Man, Dexter is so good, why didn't anyone tell me?

Also, Heavy Rain was an amazing game, but I really don't get how you liked it and didn't care for Hotel Dusk, very similar non-games, IMO.

In regard to Forge in Reach:
"...so at the beginning of Reach it was a very conscious decision of: "All right. It's no longer a question of will people use it; we know they will. How can we make the experience better and make sure that content is touching more people?"
tell me tell me tell me tell me tell me

I fucking love Dexter, such a good show. I forgive you for watching Netflix as long as you're watching Dexter. I'm glad you liked Heavy Rain. Really the best experience I've had on a gaming system this year.
I hesitate to call it a videogame.
See if you can get your Wife to play it, my girl fucking loved playing through it.

Hotel Dusk is fucking torture. Absolutely the least enjoyable thing one could induce upon themselves. Hours upon hours of fucking nothing. It's one thing not to rely on action and death to make a story interesting but to discard all of that and then making the most boring characters and drama... my mind boggles at the thought of someone liking that game in any fashion let a lone think it's decent or better. My biggest draw to HR was the branching story and the mortality of each character. In hotel dusk all that happens is I scroll through some text, I guess I choose one of the boring comments that marginally upsets the other person, they it pops up a screen saying "Went back to my room for the night and left the hotel, game over."

Did you guys see this? I may have missed it. Long, but interesting read on the beta for Reach. It's basically a big interview with Brian Jarrard and Chris Carney
Yeah, read that yesterday but didn't find anything terribly noteworthy in the interview. The bit about DLC, forge, and putting the community in the driver's seat was relatively promising.

This is GAF Eazy, you're not allowed to hate on Hotel Dusk.

u a mad hater too?

Game is awesome, death to all who oppose it.

Man, the judge was an MLG pro apparently...

“At one point, they even considered forming a competition team that was to include some of Hubbard’s neighbors.”

Wow, you guys have good taste. Just finished that a couple days ago and loved the experience too.

I've never played it actually. It just doesn't seem like something that would interest me. I just remember back in the 1up Yours days there were major boners over that game. I'm glad I took the 1up Yours recommendation of Elite Beat Agents, that game is the shit.

Halo Reach - Lessons from the Beta

Good read.

(And not really Reach-related, but there aren't any general Halo threads any more, and this is funny: Stupid Judge Loses Seat Because of Halo 3)
Thanks. These articles are subsiding some of my Halo news deprivation pains. Also, it's interesting to get a glimpse into Bungie's perspective concerning the run speed and jump height. Most of the fans, or I guess I should say a lot of fans, are wanting something familiar, whereas Bungie's aims have clearly been at trying to make something more different. During the beta, the run speed and jump height never bothered me, because my favorite AA was the jet-pack. If it weren't for that, I would have been more upset about it, too. But at the same time, a slower run speed also increased the benefit of the armor ability sprint. For me, the jet-pack controls felt right, and it compensated for run speed issues by being able to bypass ramps and lifts normally required to get to higher levels. And who needs to jump higher if flying is an option? But I'm cool with any changes that have been made since the beta, especially if it makes the game feel more like Halo for other people.

Hi folks,

Looking for some nice fine examples of patient reading types to give an article a looking over, maybe later this evening?

I'm still tinkering with it and it would probably be a bit rough but I'd like to see if I can get it free of factual errors and any silly mistakes.

If anyone would like to help, I would sincerely appreciate it. Give me a PM and I'll send you a link when it's ready for some eyeballin'.

Glad to see Dexter getting lots of love. It really is one of the best shows, ever.

I'm in the middle of Season 4 and I'm loving it.

Anyways, Bungie Day '10 ftw. :)

How did so many people get Bungie's number? :lol

Actually, a quick search and you can find it. I wonder how many calls approx. they got during those two weeks.

What isn't unrelated in this thread? ;)
I mean, the two comments were unrelated. The impending Bungie Day news is sorta related. :lol

I'm guessing we'll see the June-ish podcast, and I'd dig some content reveals: a new MP and Firefight map, vehicle, etc. I'm not holding out for Forge and Arerospace just yet (which I'm convinced are joined at the hip). Based on past Bungie Days, there's never beeen a major feature reveal, it's been all content. I think anyone hoping for Forge is going to be disappointed.

It's no joke, but I'd imagine it's something game-related :p Shame no interview has asked about it at E3.

I think I remember an interview with either someone from Bungie or MS and the interviewer asked about Aerospace and the response was something along the lines of "Now you're putting the pieces together."

The stitching I did from the E3 interviews: I can't remember who was in them. But in one video interview - I think it was one of the 343 interviews - the interviewer mentioned all the stuff that was on B.net for the Beta - custom content, stats, etc. And the person being interviewed mentioned that in the final game, there would be some "new stuff" as well integrated into the site. No shocking. But I think he was kind of smirking about that hint being dropped.

Of course, me being me I put that together with what Lars said about Forge being something that fans would really get worked up about once it was unveiled. Given that Aerospace and Forge are two of the big things yet to be explained, I'm assuming they're linked. Still dreaming of some kind of editing interface on the PC, though it's more likely the new Atlas - how community maps and gametypes are peer reviewed, tested and worked into matchmaking. That kind of fits with the idea of aerospace.

Read the BWU just now.

Urk/Mancannon can you address this next update:

Are the cutscenes in the game going to have filters or 'enhanced' models/camera techniques like the cutscenes in Halo 3?

Lately I've been thinking that Aerospace would likely be some kind of new Bungie.net service like Render-to-film so I wouldn't be surprised if it's something crazy that's integrated into Reach. If so, it would be the ultimate Halo game indeed.

For some reason I thought it applied to their new IP, but now after googling it, I'm not so sure. You could be onto something.

How do people find these things? When the ARG stuff happens, I always wonder who makes the initial discovery.

Here is wikipedia's definition: "Aerospace comprises the atmosphere of Earth and surrounding space. Typically the term is used to refer to the industry that researches, designs, manufactures, operates, and maintains vehicles moving through air and space. Aerospace is a very diverse field, with a multitude of commercial, industrial and military applications."

But that doesn't really tell us anything. Oh well. I have to run some errands, so I'll be back in a little bit.
