Halo Reach Off Screen Images

I love how straight forward that OP is!
;)

Well it looks like you'll get to play Marine/ODST and Spartan, judging from the hands in the shots. And if this perk thing is real, then, maybe it's time for some class based Halo. (I hope so.)

I would rather have upgrades ala TF2 rather than perks like CoD4. I like TF2 a whole lot better :|

Alpha to final is usually a 6 month turn around. Seeing as though this is coming out in around a year they are still a long while away from even that. I'm actually impressed that it looks that far along at this stage. I'm really excited for the game now.

Oh definitely. I also think that sprint as a perk rather than sprint as a standard gameplay element is lame.

Pics sure look legit, and the fact that Bungie is banning anyone who so much as mentions them on their forums is a pretty good indicator that they are legit.

Pity that it doesn't look like a new engine. I liked Halo 1 quite a bit for its time, I'm hoping Bungie can improve on that, or at least replicate that kind of experience.

Looks decent.
More like Borderland's RPS, please. Forget "perks", Reach needs skill trees.
A huge public hub lobby, PSU-like, would be very cool too.

Go away, peasant.

Telling you, Halo needs to reinvent itself.
My buddies told me about these screens tonight on XBL, and said "Yawn, looks like Halo3".
Borderlands on the other hand, has pushed the envelope, and set a new bar.
Drop in/out 4-player coop FPS RPG, baby. It's teh future!
:D

I have to say I'm a little bit disappointed. I thought they would go with a new look. However, it's not fair to judge from screens. If they say new engine, we'll have to wait and see it in motion.

Wait, you weren't (and aren't) joking? There is something seriously wrong with you, guy. Borderlands was a nice distraction, but if I want that mess I'll go play a proper loot game like Diablo, Torchlight, or World of Warcraft. When I wanna shoot shit I'll play Call of Duty, Crysis, or Halo.

Hybrids are nice now and again, but have some sense.

This thread makes me want to cry. We have leaked screens of Reach but all we have is people taking a dump in this thread.

New engine <> New art style

It's pretty obvious that the art style of the game wasn't going to be completely revamped, but there can definitely be a new engine which is a lot more detailed than what we got in Halo 3. Judging by those gun models, the game should look fantastic once we actually see direct feed screens. The art style is not going to be completely revamped people. Get over it.

What's with Bungie putting the crosshair below the center of the screen?

Fuck.
Holy shit. You are the only person other than myself that has complained about this. I've been complaining about this ever since Halo 2. Why the fuck did they remove it from the center? I will never know.

Yes.

I honestly thought I was the only person that had a problem with it :lol

So when staring straight ahead, you'll see more space upward, so you see more of the environment and of the encounters, and less ground at your feet, where there's usually nothing interesting happening.

And also, this.

I notice a big difference even with the blurry little screens, looks like the new engine has unified lighting (if that's the correct term). And since they have a mocap studio now I'm super excited to see this thing in motion. The weapons look awesome I love the new BR and spartan laser, and that new covie gun looks really cool. I has an excitement.

ToM MoReLLo, from MLG, is claiming to be the source of the original Bungie.net thread and the unwatermarked pictures.

He's provided this;

Overall gameplay was about the same as the other Halos. Enemies battles are similar too. I don't know if you can dual wield. They made me play through the first 3 missions. The first mission was on a pretty big map, and I had to find other spartans on the map (similar to Halo 1's second stage where you have to find the crash landed marines). Second stage was pretty action packed, main goal was to take control of several huge missile guns throughout the map, and provide coverage to a spartan that would hack into the guns and control them. Third stage was very similar to Halo 1's 3rd stage, Truth and Reconciliation. You start with a sniper and cloaking perk, you sneak into an enemy base at night, and you shoot from cliffs. This game WILL be on the circuit I KNOW IT FOR A FACT, I am an mlg 50 and was a level 40 in h2 hardcore and know what competitive IS!

Yeah. Makes sense. To be honest, I don't care about it anymore.

Just thought I would compare the Halo 3 spartan laser vs Halo Reach's version.

No it isn't. We ban people for faked leaks as much as for legitimate leaks.

See the small screen, it's video camera!

This is just a Halo mod for scene it.

Maybe we could do a comparison of the two games when Bungie releases some screenshots of Halo Reach. I have heard that there might be some news on Halo Reach in December.

^That's a bigger difference than I expected. I played Halo 3 today and still forgot how bad that game looks. :lol
Pretty sure that's a beta build screen. It does not look that bad.

Just thought I would also put the thought out there that these weapons may actually be inferior to the weapons we know in Halo 3 since this game obviously takes place before the events of Halo, and hence the reason for them looking different.

By the way, why are some of you talking about ODST being a playable class? Every hand that you can see in these screenshots have MJOLNIR armor on them.

I am impressed that people are seeing significant differences in those screens....the quality is piss poor, but if somebody told me these were from 3, I wouldn't have anyway to say otherwise.

Regardless, this wasn't meant for public consumption, so no judgement should be passed until it is properly revealed

It's clearly not a finished product, so I don't understand why people are freaking out about how shitty the background textures and whatnot look. Most likely a lot of what we see in these screens are placeholders.

Don't know if someone noticed this earlier, or has discussed this possibility yet, but check this out:

The icon next to one of the Spartan squad team member's name in the lower left (the one on top) looks to me just like a Recon helmet (might be a stretch, but I personally think it looks like a Recon helmet haha). Maybe the different Spartan classes will simply be armor variations we already know and are familiar with from Halo 3: Recon, CQB, EVA, EOD, Scout, etc.

Looks like you can have different sizes. Overall it reminds me a bit of Shadowrun.

Big guy with a large gatling gun = Troll

Skinny and frail = Elf that moves fast

Average size = Human

Butch looking with energy sword = Ork that gets faster reload times while dual wielding.

Stout = Dwarf

Transfered to Halo: Fall of Reach, it could be

Big guy with a large gatling gun = Petty Officer Second Class Samuel-034

Skinny and frail = Petty Officer Second Class Kelly-087

Average size = John (Master Chief)

Butch looking with energy sword = Lieutenant, Junior Grade Frederic-104 (well-known for his abilities with a knife)

Stout = Petty Officer Second Class Linda-058 (Superb with a sniper rifle)

Samuel: Died before the events of Reach.

John: Wasn't on Reach during this time.

Linda: Was badly injured and put in a cryo tube during this time.

the lighting looks just as amazing, if not more so, than halo 3, but if those gun models are anything to go by, this game is gonna pack ALOT more details, heres hoping, come on bungie, release some proper stuff now this is in the open, im not even a huge halo fan, i just love a good solid FPS game
