Has Michael Pachter eaten his hat yet?

It was pretty much common sense that Walking Dead was going to win GOTY on the VGAs... pretty much every gaming forum/board out there agreed on that one. It was no surprise.

Why going on record against the grain?

Really? It was completely obvious from the start that a downloadable, episodic, interactive storytelling game was going to win GOTY at the VGAs? The show for the mainstream audience that has only awarded GOTY to AAA games in the past?

What got him upset about The Walking Dead in the first place?

He wasn't upset he just thought it was unrealistic to expect WD to win at this particular awards show.

It's not a $60 AAAA retail product that comes on four discs and has a collectors edition with a statue, online pass and day one DLC...or something like that.

He just thought it was too "small" to win GOTY or something stupid like that.

It's not stupid at all unless you completely ignore which awards show we're talking about. Did Pachter say it wouldn't win GOTY from anywhere, or was he specifically talking about the VGAs?

Yes, it was no surprise and it was expected to win (it was actually the most clear winner of all categories). Walking Dead is a very special game.

Remember it was also the fans voting... everywhere, I read people voting for Walking Dead.

Anyone ever think that maybe the entire industry is just against Prachter? That maybe all the big name companies read his blogs and do their best to make sure all his predictions fail?

Open your eyes to the truth!!

I remember him saying also that not that many people have played it compared to big AAA releases this year so it logically would get less votes than the other nominees. But those millions of people don't directly convert to the people militant enough to vote in these awards.

Before the VGAs he said he would eat his hat if The Walking Dead won GOTY.

We're waiting!

Personally, I'm still waiting for Mikami to depart with his head. ;) Meaning, none of them will actually be true to their flamboyant words.

Why have accountability when you can just shrug off your incorrect predictions by taking hostile shots at your readers/viewers?
