I've interviewed a few people from the games industry as part of my job

-Adam Sessler - dude was really nice, and was so impressed by my interview that he offered to vouch for me if I ever applied at Rev3. Sadly they pretty much collapsed soon after.

-Dave Lang - dude was so goddamn chill. I'd met him two years in a row covering RTX. Towards the end of the show this summer I went up to their booth and asked if I could play him in a match of Divekick, he said sure. As we walked up to the line for the booth, he deemed it too long and said "fuck that" and took me back to the private station they had set up inside their booth and we just played Divekick for a good half hour while we talked about developing the game, othergames he was looking forward to playing etc.

-I also interviewed Keits, Greg Miller, and Mega 64. All were cool guys.

-Also Tim Gettys is dating my boss so he just randomly showed up one day and I didn't realize who he was until I went home, watched a GameOverGreggy episode and just went "oh shit"

-I delivered pizza to Keanu Reeves & EviLore in the same day, as well as almost knocked over Elijah Wood

-El-P is a dick, Killer Mike and Lil B are cool as hell

I met a local tv anchor and the mayor in Philly years back. I dunno if that's considered celebrity status though.

Was getting caught part of your plan?
Met Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer at a convention once and naturally, I asked them to do the "favorite store in the citadel" line simultaneously.

Oddly enough, I ended up cringing at my own request.

Also in the very same convention, met Sean Astin (Sam from LotR). He was pretty chill but seemed not that interested in making conversation with me as he was signing my autograph.

Kinda sorta met Batista one time but it was really just a split second "hi" since it was before a WWE house show.

Finally. Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were in the same coffee shop I was in one time which wasn't that much of surprise given he hangs around Vancouver regularly since he did live here. We also came from the same high school and apparently my Geography/PE teacher gets invited to have dinner with him occasionally.

Even funnier fact: My English teacher was Ryan's drama teacher and apparently failed him.

My brother meets cool people like Elvira, Fabio and the cast of Lost. But I'll always have the upper hand because I met Arnold Schwarzenegger :)

When I was in high school Tyga came to visit and I met him. He was supposed to pay for something to do with college for the group of us that met him IIRC, but he never did and no one ever mentioned it again. Was kind of weird.

Other than that, just a few people related to the Capcom FGC. I met Gootecks, Justin Wong, Floe, Clockw0rk, and Yipes. Also got a picture with Ono. Not really big celebrities but it was still cool.

My favorite was when a guy came into our bicycle co-op and wanted a bike. He introduced himself, Thane Maynard and he sounded vaguely familiar, but I see a lot of people around the city so it was whatever. I was helping him out; signing him up as a member and showing him the bikes and then he picked out a bike but had to run to the atm real quick.

While he was gone for about 5 minutes. It hit me that I knew exactly who he was: Thane Maynard does the 90 Second Naturalist on NPR because that's the only radio station I fuck with.

So I immediately started geeking out and telling everyone. And when he came back I tried to play cool but I'm pretty sure he knew I knew.

I met Charlaine Harris (author of the Sookie Stackhouse Mysteries (aka True Blood) she confused her car with that of the person driving me home. I didn't know it was her until we in the car, but she was a really sweet lady.

My friend's band opened for Reel Big Fish at a show in Hartford a few years back. He called me and told me to meet them at a bar close to the venue prior to the show. I ended up talking to the band members and drinking (on their tab) for like an hour before they performed. I was a huge fan of them in high school and college so it was fun to actually meet them irl.

I met insult comic Lisa Lampanelli after a show she did at Foxwoods. I was terrified of what she was going to say to me, but turns out her off-stage persona is actually very sweet.

I'm from south Texas so have met some Mexican celebs when I used to work at a gas station

Bobby Pulido(Tejano Singer) - stopped by often to pump gas even paid for other peoples ones in a while cool guy.

Chabelo(mexican show host) - stopped by the store once to buy some water, also was paying for groceries in front of us grew up watching was so cool to see him tall guy too.

Gloria Trevi(Mexican Singer) - Stopped by the store more than once to buy stuff really cool likes to interact with people, very beautiful.

Jaime Garcia(Pitcher STL) - being a cardinals fan this one one of the coolest for me, he lives in the area close to the store I used to work at so he I've talked with him quite a bit. First time I met him was 2011 before the season started he's a real cool guy, always talked when he stopped by.

Jorge Cantu(ex MLB player) - he stopped by once looked like he had just finished running, didn't say much just payed for a water and left.

Ismael "Rocket" Valdez(ex MLB player) - Really cool guy also lives around the area where I use to work, came by at least twice a week during my whole time there always called me by my first name, even invited me out hunting, i never went though. One of the best people I met while I worked there.

I've been to Dragon*Con several years, so I've had a chance to meet many, but I do have a few favorites.

Marc Singer (Mothaf*ckin Beast Master) - My all time favorite celebrity that I've met. It was my first year at Dragon*Con, and I saw him sitting at his signing table. He must have noticed my fan girl face because he smiled at me and motioned me to come over. I looked around thinking he was motioning for someone else. I said, "Me?" He smiled again and said, "Yes, you! Come here!" So I walked over to the table and told him I loved him in Beast Master and V. He thanked me, and so I asked if I could get my picture taken with him. He said of course. I asked him how much it would cost, and then he said, "Absolutely nothing!" So I got my picture with him, and shook his hand before I left. Really cool and nice guy because celebrities usually charge for even taking a photo with them.

Bruce Campbell - I got to meet him during a signing of his then new book, Make Love! The Bruce Campbell Way. He was pretty nice, although I didn't really get a chance to talk to him since the line was so massive. I got him to sign both of his books, and I got a picture with him.

Alan Tudyk - I was outside smoking a cigarette at Dragon*Con one year, and this guy leans over me to put his cigarette out in the ashtray. I look up and realize it's him, and all I can say is, "Hey! It's you!" And he smiles and says, "Yep, it's me!"

I've met Neil DeGrasse Tyson and several people in bands. Meeting Dr Tyson was one of the most nerve wracking things that has ever happened to me.

I'm both an IFTA and BAFTA member, so I get to apply for tickets every year.

I was bummed when Brooklyn's filming schedule got in the way of Saoirse attending the IFTAs this year, which seemed to be an eleventh-hour clash as she was originally supposed to present an award. Speaking of which, I was initially dubious about her being nominated for Byzantium over How I Live Now -- I honestly thought it may have been a deliberate choice so the judges had an "excuse" to finally give it to someone else (the one and only time she's lost an IFTA nomination was in 2009, although she did win Best Supporting Actress, so it kindasorta evens out) -- but she ended up winning anyway.

A long time ago, played blackjack for a couple of hours with Rob Schneider a long time ago in Vegas on Superbowl Sunday-- for some reason he sat down at the low limit table I was playing at and ended up hanging out. He was pretty bombed drunk but funny and personable.

An even longer time ago, during a family trip in France, I ended up in a club in San Tropez and, at the club, ended up sitting at a table with Rebecca DeMornay and some other people whom I don't remember. Fun night.

Yesterday, Jane Lynch was at my work subway stop waiting for the train. A couple of dudes approached her, she seemed very cool about it.

Don Johnson yelled at me in front of a group of people when I asked for an autograph when I was like 13-14years old. So I got that going for me...

Quite a few. I work security for a few conventions, and I've had to escort them around the hotel and to their suites.

The ones I can remember that stood out, or actually spoke with me and weren't dicks:

Felicia Day
Kane Hodder
Patrick Stewart
Aaron Paul
Robert Downey Jr - This was an accident and I bumped into him as he was making a surprise appearance at an Iron Man kids costume contest at Comic Con.
Wil Wheaton
Doug Bradley
Nancy Allen
Dee Wallace Stone
Matt Smith
Jack Black
Ludacris
Garfunkle and Oates
Karen Gillian
Hugh Jackman - Long story short, he was a part of a group called Marvel Impersonators standing around a table at Comic Con in 2013. I asked for pictures and made a comment that he really looked a lot like Hugh Jackman. Then he put a finger to his mouth, gave me the "Shush" sign, and winked at me. Turns out it was him all along.

Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin, Christina Hendricks and Sean Maher at a Firefly convention. Other than those, I can't think of any. My mother is Fiona Shaw's cousin, if that counts.

I met Alex Ferguson (before he levelled up to Sir Alex Ferguson) and David Beckham when Manchester United played a pre-season game at my local club, circa 1996. Beckham didn't give a shit but Fergie was really nice, signing autographs and taking photos with us.

Shigeru Miyamoto at a signing in London.

A family friend (and my brother's godfather) is a minor TV chef as well.

This one's not me, but my dad has an awesome story from the early 80s. My parents were in Egypt visiting one of the major tombs. My mum's a bit claustrophobic so didn't go in at all, and when my dad got in he didn't like it either. He said something to the effect of, "Fuck this. I'm getting out of here." A woman told him to wait because she wanted to get out too, and she grabbed his hand. When he got back outside he realised it was Shirley Bassey.

My cousin dated Thunder Dan Majerle when I was in like 3rd grade.

When I worked at comic con one year I met Lance Henriksen, Thomas Lennon, and Jonathan Ross at a awards show.

I met some TNA wrestler. One of my exes some how convinced this guy to come to Georgia and make an appearance at some local wrestling event he was a part of. I wish I could remember the guys name. Maybe Lance? I don't know.

Anyway, so they're trying to get the wrestling ring out of their garage and loaded on a trailer to set up at the venue, and the guy ended up taking a nap in the passenger front seat of my car while I read Bukowski's Ham On Rye in the driver's seat.

met alot but most memorable:

Joey Ramone- met after one of the hundreds of farewell tours-getting coffee at a rest stop-the band was in the bus

Rancid (few times-and hung out with them and played basketball with them-warped tour 2001 (?)

Mike McColgan-was his neighbor in Dorchester, MA for a few years

Amon Tobin-after ISAM in NYC and Philly got him to sign vinyl for me :) we chit-chatted about music and his thoughts on Dubstep: 'eh...dont really get it' this was 2011

Joe Strummer-met at a hot dog stand near the Middle East in Boston, hours before he and the Mescaleros played that night-dedicated a song to me in the set :)

Clint Eastwood- my brother in law worked on his helicopter and we were invited to golf with him-this was when he was mayor of Carmel-pretty cool

I've met at various points after live theater performances Eric Idle, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan (same night!), Zach Braff, George Takei, F. Murray Abraham, Clay Aiken, and a few others I'm probably forgetting.

My favorite, though, was meeting Bryan Cranston after seeing him play LBJ on Broadway. He came out while we were all waiting after the show in the freezing cold and signed everyone's stuff and took whatever pictures or left goofy messages for everyone standing there. At one point a girl asked if he could pose so this other man could take their picture, and Cranston asked "oh, is that your boyfriend?" and she replied "No, it's my brother," and without missing a beat he just cried out "That's DISGUSTING!" and had everyone rolling.

I used to rent videos and go to the same beach that Bruce Springsteen goes to in New Jersey since we live in the same town.

And famous studio drummer Bernard "Pretty" Purdie is a close family friend. He gave my brother a few lessons when he was younger and comes to the larger parties we have at my family's house from time to time.

I've also met Terry Pratchett who was super duper nice and very jovial. His illness hasn't really impaired him too much (at least in 2012).

And I met Lance Henriksen and famous Star Wars screenwriter Gary "Gary Whitta" Whitta at an Aliens: Colonial Marines panel at NYCC in 2012. I mentioned I was from GAF and Gary was like "oh I'm so sorry." We laughed.

Dude, that's amazing. That guy's God-tier to me as a huge fan of funk and hip hop. What's he like? I LOVE that guy's music. I have the soundtrack for the erotic movie he scored on vinyl, play it all the time. Good singer too.

I get to go to the BAFTA's and IFTA's for the last 5 years so I've bumped into a few celebs. Have never met any really mean or bitchy celebs, unless you include people who work in Irish TV (but I don't count them). Though the weirdest/surrealist meeting would have been with Woody Allen, really nice guy, but super shy. didn't really want to chat about his films, but I mentioned that I had seen him in concert the last time I was in NYC and he smiled and said thanks.

Nicest:

Michael Fassbender - loves Guinness, nicest actor I've ever met. Have met up with him a good few times since in both London and Dublin.
Saorise Ronan - really down to earth and super nice
Jack Nicholson - personification of cool
Jennifer Lawerence - really nice
George Clooney - very nice and chatty about his films, even the bad ones.
Mark Kermode - chatted with him about his BBC Radio 5Live show and his latest book
Nigel Floyd - really nice guy, super knowledgeable about films
Paul Thomas Anderson - Kept to himself, but was nice when I said "hi" to him
Danial Day Lewis - very shy guy, very tall too. but very pleasent.
Hugh Jackman - really nice and chatted to everyone
Christoper Nolan - nice guy to talk to in general but when he talks about film he came across more intense.
Robin Wiliams - chatted more about games then his movies, was saying he was looking forward to BF3
James Cameron - said hi and we fist bumped, told him he was still "king of the world" (Avatar had just came out) and he smiled
Kathryn Bigalow - very nice lady
Russell Crowe - very cool dude, spent about 30 mins talking about Munster taking on the All Blacks in rugby and how he wanted to go the game in Limerick, but didn't know if his schedule would allow him.
Stephen Fry - he's exactly how you think he would be.

I don't usually take pics, but I do have a few on my PC.

  • Owen Wilson - hung out with him at a club in Dallas. I'm not entirely sure he was aware of what was going on.
  • Tony Romo - met him at a club in Dallas as he was just starting his career. He was kind of a douchebag: kept asking me to dance/buy me drinks. I politely said no, he pulled the "do you know who I am?" thing.
  • Steve Nash - used to come into the bookstore where I worked. Super nice guy
  • Mike Modano - bought us a couple beers at a sports bar
  • Jason Terry - just out at a restaurant with his family
  • Members of OKGo - ran into them at a coffee shop in Deep Ellum.
  • Anderson Cooper - I asked him to marry me. Didn't work out.
  • Bowser from Sha-Na-Na - be jealous

If you also count political figures as celebrities: President Obama, Bill & Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Fred Thompson (also of Law & Order fame), Sam Brownback, Steny Hoyer. Being a journalist/campaign staffer in Iowa during election season has its perks.

Went to the same college as Jay Baruchel we had some friends in common, but I don't think we exchanged more than a word or two the few times we were at the same places.

I met the guys from M83 and Ratatat after small shows, back when they were still fairly unknown. Nice guys, humble.

A long ass time ago, I met some of the kids from Ghost Writer at the Vermont State Fair. I forget which ones, it was decades ago and I was awestruck (I really liked PBS) at the time.

John Noble

Both were super nice. Talked to John Noble very briefly regarding Fringe and Sleepy Hollow, and I felt like he was a grandfather I had known for years.

I met Katherine Jenkins once & she was really nice & friendly, also met Eliza Dushku who was very cool, met a few others at Sci-Fi conventions as well, had a chat once with Craig Charles, ‎Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn & ‎Danny John-Jules from Red Dwarf at a bar outside a Sci-Fi convention, they sat down on the next table & we got chatting for a bit, they just seemed like normal blokes who got lucky, i knew Chris Barrie & Robert Llewellyn are into engineering & cars so that is what we talked about mostly, we didn't really talk about Red Dwarf i just asked about the film & they said it was being worked on but was going to take time because Rob Grant & Doug Naylor (who created the show) were having issues with each other.

A guy i know & see every so often works for a company that chauffeur's celebs around when they are in the UK, he has met them all! even driven for Justin Beiber !

I worked in a hotel near Frankfurt Airport and the guys from the death metal group Morbid Angel stayed for the night. When they came down to the hotel bar in the evening, I thought they would tear the place apart, but they were totally nice, educated and quiet. Singer David Vincent was especially friendly.

The American bobsled national team stayed there once, both the male and female teams. They just hung around in the lobby the whole day because that was the only place in the hotel that had wifi access.
