HD Zelda

Looking for attention or no clue about graphics. Which one?

Edit;

or just another TP hater, there's a lot of those too.

I thought about finding a few screens to post for TP, but then I realized it wasn't worth it.

There are definitely times and small parts of TP that look extremely blah even for GCN standards, but as a whole there were some very stunning sections. I loved just looking around at Lake Hylia in the daytime, exploring every inch of the Sky Temple, or walking into the Snowpeak Ruins (Yeti's Mansion) for the first time. The game looked great.

He means relatively.

He's still wrong tho.

But I have to say that he's not the only one shitting on TP's graphics. The low-res textures really hurt the game in the eyes of certain kind of people. Not me, I value the design much more than any technical feats these days...

Skyward Sword will be much more tolerable to look at because it uses that impressionist look on the textures.

Yeah I mean relatively. I am really excited for Skyward Sword though. I think it looks excellent.

Whatever. I give up. To each his own fellas.

I thought TP loked amazing, before, during and after I played it. I think some games packed more detail, sure, but with dealing with an Overworld of that size it was very impressive as a whole.

Metroid Prime 2 and RE 4 being the ones that I could see as arguably better looking since those are amazing examples. Star Fox or BGaE? I dont see that at all ... plsu, Nintendo has been outdone by 3rd parties before, happened plenty in the SNES years.

The CEO then suggested the eye-catching Zelda HD tech demo showcased at E3 was only possible on the Wii U.

"Regarding Zelda HD, Japanese developers said that it could not be replicated on other machines," Iwata said.

It was made in a relatively short period, so Iwata feels that HD development will not be a problem.

Zelda HD Wii U E3 demo not possible on other consoles
29/06/2011
Satoru Iwata has said what was shown at E3 cannot be replicated on other machines.

Nintendo has assured shareholders that Nintendo is perfectly able to create competitive high definition content, stating the Zelda HD demo shown at E3 would not be possible on other consoles.

According to translations from Andriasang, Japanese developers have said the demo cannot be replicated on other hardware, despite only being made in a relatively short period.

This, says Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata, is reason to believe Nintendo will have no issues creating top end high definition games for the Wii U.

The Wii U is scheduled to launch in 2012

The only problem with TP's graphics for me was its abysmal environment textures.

Other than that, it was quite pretty.

I can appreciate the high res, but the realistic water, grass, and trees clash with the style. It looks really odd. Pretty cool that someone did that, but it looks bad.

I dunno. I think it has a kind of 3D dot game heroes flair to it.

Those would have looked cool pre-E3, but now that we know what HD Zelda really could look like, those can't compare.

Like others have said some of it clashes pretty hard. However overall, fix the water, the treess and grass and Id buy a WiiU just for that game.

The clashing art style is what draws me to it. Imagine seeing this in motion with the exaggerated animations and whimsical effects in place. I would jump on it in a heartbeat if it were to ever release...

So clashy.

To be blunt--it looks bad. Almost like a "we don't know what we're doing design-wise, so we're sticking a bunch of photorealism and stylization into a blender and hoping it works out" kind of thing.

Same here. It looks like toys or papercraft placed atop a real world setting. Like a 3D dot Game heroes or LBP vibe.

Who wouldn't want to explore a world that looked like that?

Looks awesome, PaperCraft Zelda. Would buy.
exactly what I was thinking, papercraft and kind of would be in line with paper mario and epic yarn. I'd love for Nintendo to expand that stuff to other IPs and have them be off shoot titles like an side zelda made by a different team instead of a main entry, maybe even something zelda II like. I would be there day 1.

Link gets so many different types of items that they could really go nuts with an origami theme of sorts for them. What would he ride though? I guess an origami Pegasus.

I want a Zelda game with realistic Physics.

All those items Link gets, boomerang, bombs etc. would make for great gameplay.

I like the "Photoreal" take on WW. Could work if integrated better and a consistent style. GAF Zelda fans are too conservative.

We don't like your liberal views~

I was gonna go for a paper dragon of sorts. Like side scrolling through cotton clouds to travel from town to town or something. Dreams, all dreams!

Those recreations are all awful. No exceptions. Goddamn some of you have god awful taste.

Normal/specular mapping cartoony assets and adding generic water effects does not great graphics make. Also the strong DOF in WW was essential in creating some sense of scale.

Typed in HD Zelda in Google and this came up. Obviously fake, but looks incredible IMO

I believe these were made with the source engine and some photoshop enhancements still interesting that Nintendo took this route with their tech demo.

Yeah i agree on making WW looking like crysis not being a good idea...
But it doesn't look like Crysis.

It looks like Papercraft models planted on a "real" landscape. I think it has its charme... Just don't make the mistake to look at it as an evolution of Wind Waker's style, but as another style completely.

I don't know there is an evolution in the pics so it looks like everything will be replaced in the end

I'm just wondering,is this a town from a certain game,Assassins Creed maybe?Looks good.

And the Wind Waker pics are also nice-looking,it has some simple charm.

why is it that wind waker looks about 100 times better than skyward sword

Skyward Sword looks really good in the last E3 footage. I think we should wait for the Dolphin pics from the last build of the game to keep the infamous Zelda Cycle rolling.

You might be thinking of Counter Strike.
