Holy crap, PS4-Vita Remote Play is unbelievably good.

My PS4 is in the basement and my bedroom on the second floor of the house. I play games in bed with no issues. It didn't work properly until I changed the ad-hoc type though...something I had read on here I believe but it worked like a charm. Its pretty awesome. I suck at BF4 on my Vita due to the sensitivity of the sticks, but I'm still playing Beef in my bed and that's dope.

Try changing the ad-hoc type. That worked for me, it plays very well. No noticeable lag for me.

Is this on the PS4 or Vita? What adhoc type are you using?

I can't get it to work well enough. The video comes through kind of choppy. It's playable, but not enjoyable. I've tried direct connection and doing it over my LAN with my PS4 on Cat6 instead of wifi. I think there is simply too much 2,4GHz noise in my apartment building for my Vita to maintain a stable enough connection to my router or my PS4.

I know this isn't the right place to post this but I couldn't find a Vita OT so I thought I would ask here if anyone can help me.

My 64gb memory card arrived today as I got my Vita from my wife for Xmas but it only had a 4gb card so all I have used my Vita for so far is playing FF VII and remote play. I have downloaded loads of stuff onto my 64gb card now including FF VII but I can not for the life of me find out how to transfer my save files from FF VII onto this card. I assumed they would be backed up into the cloud but they weren't there so I put the 4gb card back in to try and add them to the cloud manually but I can't figure out how to do that.

Is there a way to get my save files from the 4gb card to the 64gb card for FF VII or am I screwed as I really do t want to start again on it.

can someone enlighten me, as a Wii U owner, its nice to be able to switch screens on the fly, and by that I mean like in a matter of seconds be able to switch to gamepad, go to the kitchen or something etc.

Is this similar with the ps4/vita remote play? What is the process to initiate remote play, like can it be done during a game or only from the ps4 OS home screen etc

Can be done during game--the bf kept taking over in Resogun when he was fooling with the settings -_-

I'm pretty excited about trying this out, I just haven't had an excuse to yet. Seems like even with the minor issues, it's a cool feature that works better out of the gate than I would have expected.

I have only tried like twice and both times it didnt work for me. The console and vita were both kind of far away from the router though. But it would connect, and just look buggy on the vita and then disconnect :(

I've had horrible luck with remote play. The one time I got it working it looked like a bad Youtube video and the lag was noticeable. I can't see myself ever using it again.

I was finally able to see the light after a few weeks of trying with remote play... for some reason my connection kept getting dropped, but yesterday i decided to give it anohter shot and lo and behold it worked flawlessly to play resogun while my gf watched tv. ps4 purchase redeemed! perfect vita companion.

somehow I was bored, and I looked through some of your posts.. like the last 100 posts.. damn you are a negative dude.. 95 of your last 100 posts are negative.. does anything in this world make you happy..?

His avatar is kinda smiling. Theres some happiness in there.

.

PS4 is the ultimate Vita companion device, lol

You just pick up your vita, go to PS4 link, it finds it and then whatever was on the TV is now on your vita. It can be done at any time. Takes about 20 seconds maybe. Somebody else might have a better time estimate

Tried with both Resogun and Killzone and I was convinced by the playability, allthough I sensed some lag and I could feel the difference in fps while playing Resogun.

But what impressed me the most were the colors and the contrast on dat OLED, my monitor is pure crap next to it, still searching for a replacement and it's a pain in the ass.

Have you tried backing up your 4 gb card and then restore it on the other one?

My experience as well, whether through direct link or wifi, PS3/PS4 or PSP/Vita. Always shocked when these types of threads pop up.

I didn't know I could do that but I have just plugged the vita into my PC with the 4gb car in and used the content manager to copy the save data and then put the 64gb card to transfer it that way and it's all working great now.

Thanks for the help

You have to upload saves manually I think. So if you have the game on the 4gb card still, go click on the bubble and on that screen that comes up to launch the game it should have something at the top that says something like upload save. I think you might have to be a plus member to do that though.

Otherwise I think you can transfer it to a PS3 if you have one and then transfer it back to the new card. If you have a PS3. I've only used the content manager thing to transfer things once and it wasn't for saves so I'm not sure.

EDIT: Oh you got it already. Well done

I tried it once with AC4. Although I didn't like the image quality hit and slightly more awkward controls, I will say that the actual gameplay was very fluid and responsive.

For those guys with bad connection, is your PS4 connected to your router wirelessly? You could try it connecting the PS4 to the router with LAN cables. If the PS4 can't reach the router, try using some home plugs.

home plugs?

My ps4 is wireless against my wishes, but thats how it worked out :( i could get another modem i guess.

But yeah my vita hasnt succesfully stayed connected long enough to launch a Ps4 game on it, it just looks like a lagged out video

I wish my lag wasn't noticeable but of course I don't live in fairy land where people don't notice things that are totally there

I love and use remote play but it's nowhere near perfect. I've found uses for it around the house (playing Assassin's Creed 4 mostly because it's the kind of game that isn't hurt too much by lag, also Resogun somehow) but I can't stand how laggy it becomes (to me, personally) the moment I leave the house and it's still got enough lag that playing BF on it is an impossible prospect (not to mention those sticks...)

It's a neat feature but I always get uncomfortable when people imply it's worth the cost of entry in and of itself. It's not.

..but it will be someday, someday soon. Fallout 4 believe

Now that is plain not true

it is true, depending on the quality of his connection to his PS4. the picture will degrade.

And you definitely lose some framerate. 60fps games clearly run a liiiiiittle bit lower. Not a lot lower, but it's noticeable. Either way it's a great feature and well executed. Far from perfect, but acceptably close enough.

internet over powerline. it's pretty great.

That's good to hear! My Vita is ready for the inevitable ps4 purchase as soon as the library gets a bit more meat on the bone!

Hopefully it'll be upgraded to support 60fps in due time like the Shield.

Well, today I decided to give it another go, since I wanted to lay in bed but still had the Resogun urge. I was immediately astounded at how quickly it connected to my PS4, and how there was seemingly no perceivable latency

(It's worth noting that the Vita only displays the games at 30fps, but they still look incredibly smooth and crisp, especially on dat OLED screen.)

Spot the mistake. Ugh.

I need to get a vita. Even more so since I will someday be able to play PS/2/3/4 games on it.

I'd probably only use it in my apartment and even then only when I was on the toilet.

Now that is plain not true

Yes it is.

Play Resogun on your TV.
Play it on the Vita.

I won't lie, I like me some graphical excess every once in a while and that's basically why I play Resogun. "Armageddon." Besides the compromised controls and frame rate, the loss of visual quality is what really makes me get out of bed instead of RP.

why have i never heard of this invention? does it work well?

i need a new updated router sometime though too

If button mapping becomes available, Remote Play will be great for Warframe. Otherwise it's just okay.

It is, however, great for Assassin's Creed IV.

I was just playing Don't Starve last night and I actually found I preferred it on the Vita over the big screen. Remote play with direct connection to PS4 is totally seamless/lagless, far as I can tell.

Does sony have any plans to go for 60fps in remote play? If they could do that it would be nearly perfect. I know the nvidia shield had an update to 60 fps so i'd imagine it's possible.

This is the best grip accessory for the Vita (in my opinion). Although i hope sony releases an official with with some OS level functionality (even though i bet it will be for the Vita 2000, not the OLED MODEL!!!) Maybe they will release a case that clips into the charging/data port and adds some triggers and new buttons (kind of like circle pad pro). In the meantime, i love these grips

I would probably go as far to buy an entirely new Vita just to have additional triggers/support for ps4 remote play... as far as that grip is concerned I love it aswell, but the triggers bug the crap out of me, theyre really squeeky when I press on them and need to do something about that :(

EDIT: I used remote play and played a few games of CoD, not exactly a perfect experience but I do love that I can just touch the screen to knife which is pretty cool, but the screen is just too small/compressed to see people from farther away. So far Lego Marvel has been the best game I've played with remote play, love moving to the vita as I get ready for bed :D

Yeah Remote Play is awesome. I will go to breakfast at a local coffee shop that has WiFi and bust out my Vita to remote play my PS4 every morning before work. Works fantastic. A little worse latency then at home, but not so much difference that it effects my ability to play well.

Playing Don't Starve right now on Vita actually, via remote play

I recently upgraded my router to this

https://www.asus.com/us/Networking/RTN66U/

I haven't tried remote play via router yet but will try tonight and report back. I recommend everyone giving their feedback and wireless router configurations in the official remote play thread

My NETGEAR Nighthawk will be delivered tomorrow (coolest looking router in the universe) and I'm hoping this will improve my remote play experience. I don't know why my house is somehow not as receptive to remote play and off TV play with Wii U as so many other people on GAF. Either they're living in studio apartments or my house is made out of Kryptonite. These are the only possible solutions I can think of.

I'm sure it'll happen at some point. Stuff like remote play and Share are in very early stages and will evolve considerably over time

How do you get it to run through your router instead of directly from the PS4?

I found out for those wondering, you need to untick the second option on the RP settings on the PS4. Something along the lines of 'Connected directly to the Vita'.

Noob question: If you RP though your router, it doesn't affect your ISP data does it?

#1 selling feature for me so far.

It got even better when I got it working over the net when i was at my gf's place. theee fuutuuureee. no need to bring over my PS4, just sneak in my Vita for when she's sleeping hehehehehe :)

Try this. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0081FLFQE/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_mVUZsb1EV2KPA Have main router in the basement with one end attached. The other in the living room attached to another router. PS4 hardwired to the router upstairs. Works pretty flawless..maybe a hiccup once every other day, but nothing crazy.
