Just curious about it. About a year ago I tried to a PS5 but it was so exhausting to wait hours and just get nothing from drops. Or I go to bed waiting for a drop and it drops when I sleep. I decided to forget about it. Fast forward about a year later and Sony had the option to get a PS5 through their selective invitation thing and today I got one. So how are you all fairing with getting one?

It's unfortunate that we will have to deal with this chip shortage for a while. I've looked into the Series X and honestly it's a great machine. Gamepass seems to be a dream come true to me.

It's just such a nice feeling to know the nightmare of getting one shouldn't be nearly as bad as at launch. The Sony invitation seems to be a solid method of getting one.

There are twitter and YouTube accounts you can follow for drop updates. I followed one dude in particular and eventually managed to get a PS5 from Walmart back in September. It took a lot of effort though and tbh I'm not really sure it's worth it at this point.

I like the console a lot, but it can't live up to the hype and it's certainly not worth paying above retail for.

For about a week, I'd check Walmart and Sony's site whenever I had my morning coffee. In late December I scored a PS5 that way - just happened to log on at the exact right moment.

I have tried here-and-there to get a Xbox Series X for a friend with no such luck. Must have tried to order one during five or six inventory drops, and lost count how many times I followed leads that turned up nothing.

In my region only XSS is available .. never saw ps5 in stock. Anyways i plan on getting PRO ps5 later. For now 3070 will do the job since most games are coming to PC. Glad nvidia went with 8nm samsung node.

Got both, XBX used (only for a month) and PS5 through internet alerts. So far XBX has seen much more use but that's how it goes: I play whichever has atm the games I want to play.

Right now that's Switch and SMT5.

Pretty good. I was looking for a Series X pretty early on but couldn't find one in a store so I just put an order online. Got a notification 2 weeks later and picked it up.

Haven't tried with Ps5 yet since I'm waiting for a 'slim' version.

I was insanely lucky. Happened to be home and decided out of nowhere to go to Amazon Japan's ps5 site last November about a week or so after launch. At that moment they were accepting orders and somehow I got one in. But the reason I got it was cause Amazon japan made a mistake and sold more systems then they were supposed to. Thankfully they honored all their orders. I had to wait two months but it finally came in late January. That made me so happy. It's been one of my few aspects of good luck for me for the past two years which has been filled with disappointments and bad moments throughout.

I got a PS5 in December that I gifted to my nephews (both younger than 13) for Christmas last year, and they were ecstatic. I just picked up the Halo Infinite Limited Edition Xbox Series X at Best Buy yesterday morning. Having said that, I voted "Don't care for the consoles" because I'm a PC gamer. I will virtually always choose PC over console. Slightly related: I was also able to pick up an RTX 3090 when it came in stock at my local Best Buy as well. So I've been pretty lucky with all aspects of next-gen gaming. My local Best Buy must love me.

My friend who lives downstairs grabbed a Series X at lunch without any major issue. Sadly he sat on his hands when the RTX3080 launched and now he's looking at paying almost double the price they were at launch.

Still waiting for the PS5 i pre-ordered at my local store back in January. But, to be honest, haven't tried any other places or ways to get one since around April/May when my dishwasher went to the other side _ after a month or two doing the dishes to prevent my wife from buying a new one, eventually lost the battle and the money that i had gathered for the PS5 was went kaput. Pretty much lost the urgency in buying one since then, that's karma for you b****

Good, Series S at launch and 2x DE PS5s in June (one for me, one for brother).

Got £129 for my controller-less One S and £240 for my PS4 Pro a few months before they launched.

The longer it takes the less interested I get. It got me spending more of my free time with the Switch. I have one for quite a while, but used it quite rarely. That has changed and somehow I do feel I have something new.

I'm lucky to have a good PC, so I can play everything on that, apart from exclusives. Good thing there aren't that many, yet.

But yes, I still want a PS5, but it is no longer an issue for me that it is impossible for me to get one for now. Never thought that would be the case, so I'm all good.

Got lucky with 2 PS5. Frist one I gave to my bro in the office, 2nd one I kept for myself. The first one I got for having it on my wishlist on a smaller shop and the 2nd one because I F5'd one site just at the right time.

I've been trying to get my hands on a Seris X for a few weeks now and even F5'd a site just on the right moment on Saturday but got an Email 30 minutes later that I don't get my piece after all. Still don't have my money back so I kinda have miniscule hopes I still might get one when I complain. Otherwise I'll just keep F5ing the sites. I hope the snatch one until the Halo release but even if I don't it's not that big of a deal. Most important for me is to get one until Starfield is being released. And yeah, I know this is still one year away but at the current rate I do not see the series X being any cheaper or more available in November next year.

I think it was around the start of September when I noticed that stores in my area were suddenly stocked with PS5s and scalpers didn't manage do snatch them away so I just ordered one without second guessing myself again. Especially since it was available at MSRP back then and when I check the same offers now, they're already almost twice as expensive.

What's this invitation stuff ? Is it available in Europe ? I went on the French official PS website and there are pages and pages about how great the PS5 is and that I should buy it but no link or option to do so.

My girlfriend pre ordered my PS5 for me as a Christmas gift, so super lucky that I didn't have to deal with any of the stress in obtaining one.

I work in retail and so I managed to see that the Series X was in stock so I just bought it there and then.

I also managed to secure myself an Xbox Mini Fridge at a different retailer on my way to work when the pre orders went live too.

Used a stock informer website in the UK to get an Xbox Series X in september. Up until that bit of luck, stock was usually depleted within minutes every time I tried to get one.
