It hasn't been too bad. I got my dad a ps5 at the beginning of the year without too much effort and I got myself a Series X a few months ago through Walmart and All Access and that was a breeze. I've put in an inkling of effort for an OLED Switch and haven't succeeded yet.

Got every console pretty easily actually.

Bad. Couldn't get one until last month using a stock tracker app and getting lucky. I don't get why nobody will continue to issue pre-orders for in demand items that way every person knows where they stand in line and approx how long it will take to get one. Plus it stops website crashes/bottlenecks and let's customers buy at their own pace and ask for a refund if they wish while letting retailers hold on to your money (as is the case for all pre-orders). It also prevents scalpers because the customers are aware of the time frame of when they can get one, so there is less urgency for "omg, I have to get it NOW because idk when there will be another drop." Retails could do this: "Here's your receipt. You are 10,123 in line. We get about 20 a month so you'll have yours in 15 years, cool?" All of the hype and anger and BS the past year could have been avoided if pre-orders never went away. Until shelves can remain stocked for a week is when pre-orders can be removed.

Don't really care now to be honest.

I have a decent PC and with most Sony 1st parties coming to PC at some stage there will be no need to pick up a PS5. At least not right now.

This might change in future when consoles are readily available but that will be at least 3 years from now or mid gen.

I got an XSX maybe a week after release in store at a less trafficked chain in a mall (Canada). I had a PS4 Pro at the time so wasn't too fussed about getting a PS5.

Honestly the only thing that's made me even want to look is that Halo XBSX. Christ that thing looks fucking beautiful.

But honestly I don't see any reason to rush. The launch for both was really underwhelming. Sorry, it's just my opinion

I got mine at launch via scrolling a thread at ResetEra that said Sam's Club had them for presale. Tried for 9 months to get one for my dad and had no luck, and neither did he. Finally gave in and bought one from a scalper for his birthday. Ended up costing about $825 after shipping and tax.

Preordered a PS5 at launch, paid for it in full and apparently the Fed Ex guy stole it and I never received it. Ended up miraculously getting another PS5 a few weeks online later and then found another one shortly after. It definitely wasn't easy. Had to literally wait all night for hours several times of the week hitting the refresh button on my computer and phone every second and fighting with checkout and website crashes.

Still can't find a XSX though. They seemingly never have drops. I had two opportunities to buy an XSX online, that's when I was trying to get the PS5. Couldn't do both at the same time.

i got an XSS... from a scalper, because i sold my switch and its games for pretty much the price of the thing.

i'm hugely annoyed by it at the moment because i can't get the ps2 emu to work and none of the videos acklowledge that it might not work even if i follow all of their recommendations.

i get some bumped ps2 bios pack, chuck it in system, i get the pcxs2 or whatever core, chuck it in system, i've got bios for all regions and models, i put my games (all .iso, all NTSC) in game folder, I make a playlist which successfully populates with games that are programmed to run using the pcx2 core, this is what happens every time i try to play a ps2 game on dev mode:

1st try - boots to ps2 OS, asks me to look at my memory card or select a 'PS2 Disc' which just reboots the same page.
2nd try - get a warning saying it can't read the content
3rd try - screen goes black, hugely overloading my XSS to the extent that it takes 30 seconds for the restart menu to appear, and a further 3 seconds to move the selection to select restart, etc etc.

there is simply no text out there on google that seems to look at these issues. I can only surmise that it is happening because i've got a dud set of bios, or something, but i have got bios from redumps and stuff, places u don't usually doubt. and i've tried 3 or 4 different bios downloads/.rar packs

fuck it all! i want to play OG GTA 3, and all those other games that had those awesome, hazy, bespoke graphical additions that only the PS2 could run...

I've been able to get a ps5 for each room in my house as well as several relatives who all live with me by being on 24 hour alert and following several twitter accounts dedicated to exploiting this hunt for influence clout. It's not hard to get one if you really want one 🙄. /s

Got a series X day one cos I kept spamming the store on preorder day.

Got a ps5 around July after a two week preorder at EB Games

Could get a series s anytime really.

Got screwed out of a Halo elite V2, had it preordered and prepaid with ms funds but for some reason they cancelled it 3 days before release and now it's out of stock 😂.

Twitter helped a lot with ps5 I followed a stock alert page.

Managed to get both a Series X and a PS5 at launch. Both on Amazon thanks to someone posting a link when they became available for preorder again. It was stressfull though.

Got a ps5 at midnight launch. Could have had multiple series x through free stock update apps but decided against it as the PlayStation is gathering dust lol.

It baffles me how enthusiasts on forums haven't got one at this stage 🤷🏻‍♂️

I had to get a PS5 off ebay last week. It was £70 more, which isn't bad as I knew the prices were going to go up nearer Christmas.
I found it impossible to get a PS5 otherwise.

I honestly have given up. With a kid on the way (late Jan 2022), the reasoning to buy another shiny new console just fades with each passing month.

My ps4 is serving me well and I purchased the Mario red and blue edition earlier this year with the money I got from trump stimulus.

I was able to get both at launch, but have been trying to get a second SX and have not had any luck.

I just followed PS5Stockalerts on twitter and almost daily there are alerts showing drops for XSX's and PS5's at WalMart, Target, BestBuy and Gamestop. The first time I saw one that didn't involve a WalMart+ account I accessed the website and had no trouble getting one. It was delivered Saturday.

Had been trying since last year for either PS5 or Series X, then with good fortune was having a short break from work a few weeks ago when stock of Series X came in at a retailer so got that and now happy.

Took about 3 to 4 months for me to get the PS5. Series X was much easier to get here and at times I was tempted, but couldn't jump the gun for some reason. At some point I almost wanted to go PC, but GPU prices were just too crazy.

Got my PS5 one/two months after release in japan.

later on I saw many stores selling it (small game stores, Normal price). But I never saw one on big stores (amazon, bic camera.. etc)
I also was in Taiwan last year and no issues, they even have plenty of rtx 3070/80/90 at normal price , mostly msi (no idea why)

Got one of each at launch and havent bothered since.

Actually got a second ps which i scalped to make the first one "free". Yeah sue me

I was lucky enough to get 3 PS5 preorders and share with family members. I've been trying to get an Xbox series X for a friend for the last few months with no success even with Twitter notifications. He doesn't want to pay reseller prices.

Every time I have money they aren't in stock, when I'm broke they are so easy to find. My luck is the worst.
