If anything switching from Playstation to PC as a main platform taught me, it's patience. Some advice is timeless.

(Will still buy ultra hyped games at full price though. Dragon's Dogma 2 will -sadly- be my first $70 game.)

don’t ever pay $70 for a PC game

I spent zero on full priced games.

I did get Zelda and Warioware at launch, but only spent $25-$30 out of pocket.

tears of kingdom for myself and another copy for my sis, mario kart 8 for my bro, metroid prime remaster for myself at its release price $39.99

Just the deluxe version of Lies of P. I share a Steam account with family, so we usually split the cost of new releases in half.

Hogwarts, Diablo, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, AC Mirage, Tears of the Kingdom, Baldurs Gate 3, Spiderman, Jedi Survivor. Would’ve bought Alan Wake if they released a physical version so I’ll just wait

Baldur’s Gate, no regrets. Larian continues to be awesome.
Diablo 4. Bullshit. Fuck you Blizzard.
Anno 1800. No regrets.
Starfield. Fuck you Todd.
Against the storm. No regrets.
Spiderman 2. Fuck you Sony and your subpar Ubisoft bullshit
Cyberpunk expansion. Awesome. CDPR redeemed. Witcher 4 fuckin day 1.

17 all on PS5 full price, I always put my money where my mouth is. I've finished all but one of them (currently playing through Star Ocean), plat'd a few:

Dead Space
Hogwarts
Atomic Heart
RE4
Wo Long
Jedi Survivor
FFXVI
Diablo 4
Street Fighter 6
Remnant 2
AC6
Blasphemous 2
Lies of P
Lords of The Fallen
Spider-Man 2
Alan Wake 2
Star Ocean Second Story R

Let's see if 2024 could give this year a run for it's money.

Edit: forgot Dead Island 2 so it's actually *18* games.

Hogwarts Legacy and Diablo IV. I put 3, but I forgot I used gmg for Aw2 . Do dlcs count? Cause I paid msrp for Final Transmission.

Bought many games but only Resident evil 4 Remake PS5 was full price. If dlc's count Phantom Liberty too.

None because I only buy physical and in the UK you can get pretty much all new releases well under rrp at launch if you buy physically.

I bought a ton of games discounted this year.

The only full priced $70 game I bought this year was Spider-Man 2.

I rarely pay full price on games anymore, usually get them cheap on steam sale. There are a few exceptions, but not many (Hogwarts Legacy, Robocop Rogue City, Baldur's gate 3, Starfield). I can usually wait for sales.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons
Tears of the Kingdom
The Making of Karateka
World of Horror
Super Double Dragon
Double Dragon Advance

Double Dragon is probably my GOTY although im playing Wanted: Dead and having a blast with that.

I wish I had bought Octopath Traveler II, Robocop, or Armored Core VI instead of TotK which I lost interest in halfway through and have 0 desire to go back to.

Resident Evil 4 Remake
Dead Space Remake
Mario Wonder
Diablo IV
Do Baldur's Gate 3 and Darkest Dungeon 2 count? I bought them both years ago for full price but they did not come out until this year? Darkest Dungeon 2 is the ONLY game i have ever bought on EPIC game store btw.

Dice

Pokémon Parentage Conspiracy Theorist
Hogwarts Legacy
Resident Evil 4 Remake
Street Fighter 6
Armored Core 6
Mortal Kombat 1

I would have paid full price for Nintendo games but I got eshop gift cards for 20% off then used the credit to get vouchers so I was getting Switch games for $40. Wait... actually I remember working a gift card deal for Xbox as well... yeah I got AC6 20% off.

Regret none of them.

My GOTY is ACVI by far.

Will pick up ACVI during a sale this year based on your praise.

I was going to buy the Mario RPG remake, but I played the original thru emulation not to long ago and will wait on it. (I'm sure they did it justice, a good ass RPG)

Semi OT, I hope they remake Thousand Year Door.

I try to buy as few games as possible, usually play through subscription services, but these I couldn’t stay away from:

Hogwarts Legacy - PS5
Should’ve gone with the PC version but it was said to be bad at the release.

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom - Switch
Actually bought an OLED Switch too. Just amazing, the reason I now have an OLED Steam Deck too, equally amazing.

Starfield - PC
I wanted in on the early access and wanted unrestricted mod access, so Steam version was my choice. My most played game of the year by far.

Super Mario Bros Wonder - Switch
Mostly bought this for the kids, they’ve barely played it though. It’s good but not worth the praise imo.

Baldurs Gate 3

To support the cause and good work mostly.
The rest where heavy discounts.

This was a pretty insane year for me, I bought a ton of games and possibly the most full priced ones in any year I can remember. Lots of big games this year, lots of physical releases.

Fire Emblem Engage
Metroid Prime Remastered
Tunic
Zelda: TOTK
We Love Katamari Reroll
Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy X/X2
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy XVI
Castlevania Advance Collection
Castle Crashers Remastered

I bought even more games on sale, some pretty awesome deals earlier this year despite BF being a bust. And there's plenty of games that I still intend to buy that I haven't yet (probs not at full price though) like RE4R, SMRPG, Armored Core VI, BG3.

I almost never buy games at full price. 1-2 at most every year. My back log is too big, but I am a Gamepass subscriber. That's the only time I'm playing at launch generally.

The only one I slightly regret is totk as I didn’t enjoy the at game much and found it pretty boring overall. Still have Metroid sealed as I played through it on pc before physical released lol

got diablo on sale for 50 so almost full price on that

Playing AW 1 again first time since it came out and enjoying it. After I beat it and control will probably get AW2 even if it's still full price
