Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I'm at 34 so far this year. Most years I do between 43 (my lowest year since tracking) and 69 (my highest year since tracking)

40-50

I attempt to do 4 platinums a month, but the length of the games I play is usually 20 hours or less. I seldom play anything over 40 hours nowadays.
How many hours a week do you play?

5-10 for me. Sometimes I disengage from playing for weeks at a time even if I read about it everyday

1-5.

Spend most of my time in online games. Smash, Splatoon, FIFA or PES, Rocket League and Tetris 99. Either that, or endless games like Descenders and Hades.

Just play the big tent pole games I am interested in like Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy and TotK and then any little standouts like Ori and Tinykin.

Broken Sword
Tears of the Kingdom

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
Always at least 10 new ones and I'd say at least 5 old ones. Some of these might be 6 hours, others 60.

Probably over 50. I tend to get bored with lengthy games pretty quickly so I tend to sprinkle in a lot of games with a much shorter running time into my gaming diet. If any game is longer than 30 hours and a lot of it is open world padding, then it's pretty much inevitable that I will drop it to play something else and come back to finish it later.

I only started keeping track in 2017. So since then:

Least finished games in 2022 - 14
Most finished game in 2020 - 34

Including replays of older games. just everything that I've finished

Nobody finishes games these days.
Who has the time?

You buy shit loads over the course of the year, usually in sales, unable to resist the Sirens call, and leave them languishing in shrink wrap on a shelf or buried in your digital library.
Your backlog swells into an insurmountable challenge, and the dizzying array of titles leaves you befuddled as to what to play next as you scan the overwhelming selection of uncompleted shame.
You lament about this on Gaf.
You foolishly try to play several games at once, naively thinking if they're all different genres you can manage to juggle them. Inevitably some games you're playing fall by the wayside, you return to them a week later without the foggiest idea what you're doing, and reluctantly concede it best to start from the beginning again...
And lo the cycle begins anew.
At least in my experience anyway 😜
An apt observation!

It can vary, but typically I try to fit an hour in each night (this happens less and less nowadays), then play 3-4 hours each day on Saturday & Sunday. All in all that gets me to about 10-15 hours a week when I am committed to gaming.

I ebb & flow. 2019, for example, I literally played only 2-3 games the whole year because I had no desire to play anything. Meanwhile, in 2020 I did nothing but play games because of COVID and lockdowns.

Some of you people need to sort your miserable lives out.
Putting family and kids over your main hobby?! not having time to play more than 1-3 games yearly?!
Tell u the truth. Your wifes don't like you playing games. I know too many people like that :p
For me adult life is great. I've got so much time :p

Big games? Usually 2-3 a year.

Small ones? Dozens. Maybe even a hundred. I usually finish maybe 2-3 in a day so it's easy for that number to go up. Flash games, indies, early access, small VNs. Like some can be finished in like an hour. Something I do if I have just an hour or two to spend.

I have a friend like this. Two kids in beginning of elementary school. Wife who doesn't game. Any long ass rpg you can think of he's played it: xenoblade chronicles, elden ring, baldurs gate 3.

I don't criticize or say anything but it's definitely had an impact on his marriage

Before family about 10.
Before wife, 50+

It was no problem to finish a 10 hour action-ish game every weekend; and work on a larger RPG type thing during the week.
Work, Gym, Gaming kept me happy for a long ass time.

A few. While I think 2023 will be one, if not the best, year for gaming. I feel like I've been there, done that and am still looking for a new experience that developers aren't offering. I would much rather mountain bike, hike, garden.

I'm really disillusioned by "season passes", unless they're just adding new characters.

I would say about 2 games per month, sometimes more sometimes less, i replayed The Witcher 3 this year and that took about 150 hours in about a month, but sometimes i play a short game like Black Ops Cold War campaign and that took like 2-3 days. In average i would say about 20-30 games per year.

Sounds like an unhappy life if your partner tries to control your hobbies.

yeah good for you. my wife is the same. We get time for out own hobbies and I don't explain anything.

But I have few friends/coworkers who can't upgrade pc parts, can rarely play and when they do, the wife starts nagging... even if the kids are well taken care of and doing their own crap. miserable fools

Less than ten games/year, which compared to the past 10-15 years is a lot for me.

However, I just moved to the middle of the desert, and it's been super hot out, there's nothing to do outside, and it's ugly here, so I have no guilt being inside all day. So hopefully can play more games now.

Purchase a ton but see credits roll ? 1-5. This year I’ve seen the credits on :

Like a dragon Ishin
Spider-Man miles morales
RE4 Remake
Diablo 4

Of the games left this year I can easily see myself completing spidey 2, and AC6. Maybe blasphemous 2 before the year is up. Starfield and BG3 are too big to hold my attention to completion most likely.

I don't get to play games much less beat them as freely as I did in my younger years.
5 games sounds about right on a good year.

Pre-covid it was usually arround 10 a year.

During the covid years I finished around 30-35

This year I'm at 13 so far, but the speed is dwindling as normal life has mostly gone back to pre-covid state. Now, I'm mostly visiting events and conventions and taking pictures again during the weekends, as opposed to play videogames all day.

Usually 1-2, but this year is a bit of an outlier for me. I moved to a new state where I don't know anyone, so I've had a lot more downtime to focus on my hobbies (mainly gaming, drawing, writing code, learning about history).

It also helps that a ton of games that appeal to me are/will be released this year. This year, it's looking like I'll be completing close to 10.

Finished:
- Tunic
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Ico
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Star Wars: Jedi Survivor
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- Final Fantasy XVI

In-progress and likely to finish:
- Grandia
- Baldur's Gate 3
- Zelda: Majora's Mask

Definitely picking these up with full intention of beating:
- Armored Core VI
- Starfield
- Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

They used to be fewer but I've been finishing 20-25 per year since 2020. COVID opened up a lot of free time and got me into gaming more.

I'm behind schedule for this year though.

5-10

But dwindling as the yrs pass, age, family, other priorities/hobbies, etc.

These modern day open-worlds take magnitudes longer to finish as well. Still finishing Zelda as we speak. Then there’s Starfield, BG3…

I’ll never be finished.

Sadly, since i hit about 50, i just cant stay focused enough to finiish the type of games I truly enjoy (Single Player story driven). Combine that with a PS4 that shuts down randomly and here I am.

I did just yesterday start PS4 version of The Last Guardian *controls wtf* Hope I finish

My most recent gaming purchase is a Starfield controller...a game I'll never play lol.
