It's still first gen TressFX Can't you get 60 fps with it turned off? and some of the AA lowered?
well yeah but that wouldn't the best comparison where tressfx is a mandatory thing for next gen version (i think?)

I'm disappointed Square Enix didn't go the obvious route and hook up with a shampoo/conditioner company for some sweet product placement. And the beautiful, shiny, clean, styled hair in both pics makes sense?
The hair though...again...looks far better on the PC version. I do prefer the skin tone on the rebuild, but less blood doesn't make sense due to what you just climbed out of.
Great comparison, but while the hair tech is neat, it still looks completely ridiculous in both versions. Why would her hair be all silky smooth like it was freshly shampooed after crawling through a river of blood? Or even outside where it's pouring rain almost constantly? Most likely touched up...although, they're also only 720p...maybe they're getting Ryse level of quality...(doubt it...but who knows). It IS however a direct shot from the game...because I took a shot at almost the same time.
Here's 720p on the PC (TOP) vs the new "screenshot" (BOTTOM).

They definitely re-did the lighting...and the skin/blood textures. That rebar looks like crap no matter the hardware...lol....sort of ruins the picture. Tons more blood on the PC build.
The hair on the PC (THIS IS MY OWN PERSONAL SCREENSHOT I TOOK) is MUCH better looking still.
As for everything else...well they just sort of changed it. The bow difference may just be due to "upgrades"..also my Lara shot was taken a bit earlier in the scene...so she's in the middle of squinting/blinking...lol.

Edit**
Here's what you just climbed out of (and were swimming in up to your nose)...that's why the screenshot on PC makes sense and the new build doesn't...honestly.

Both of these are scaled to 720p direct captures from my PC too.

This looks like a pastgen game, actually. Sure, not PS360 kinds of pastgen, but still pastgen.

TressFx hair still looks too shiny and clean.

I don't understand, is this game good or bad?
There are no real huge issues with gameplay.

I love how IGN editors are technically inept when they have to figure out if a game is 1080p or not, but they get all the bullet points and technical innovations exactly right when writing theseadspreviews.
You mean other than that the game has you murder an entire militia of rugged survivors/killers.
It seems rather divisive.I don't understand, is this game good or bad?

Not really, no. Her normal hair just kind of looks grimier by default so it looked more fitting.Does her normal hair get dirty?
The new version really looks worse. Even after swimming through blood etc. her eyeshadows and glossy lips are still intact, wtf!
Not only are her skin and face covered in blood in the PC version, but also her shirt was drenched in it. Totally gone in the "definitive edition".
I wouldn't expect press shots to have her covered in blood even if the new version still shows her that way in game. There's ESRB rules about that stuff. I'm not saying that's what we're seeing here, I'm just saying it makes some sense that they'd change it, at least for the press shots.

It was less divisive, and more that it really bugged a vocal minority. I understand the criticisms, but thought it was great if judged on its own.
If only it was 60fps...
Yep. The game is fantastic. Anyone actually calling it horrible is so biased because of the name on the box that they can't evaluate the game honestly as a stand alone product.
