How would you increase PSVR2 sales?

I still think we're going to see Sony's ultimate push for VR is standard games with VR modes rather than just VR games. I think that is where they have leverage that Meta Quest doesn't really.

I wouldn't be opposed to that being a solution to their limited 1st Party support, but Sony so far as one game that is a standard game with a VR mode, right? They've supposedly supported a few other third-party games (it's said they're involved with the RE VR modes, right?) but for their own products, they have only brought out GT7 VR and have promised nothing else (including TLoU2 remaster or the GoW DLC. Not all of their stuff would work great in VR conversions (though some people have more tolerance than others... don't know who could do Spider-Man in VR for long even on a strong stomach,) but there's potential conversions (as well as unique 3rd-person perspectives to try) that they could do and just haven't.

They also have weirdly had trouble signing some 3rd party VR conversions to PSVR2. EA I believe has had two racers with PC VR support that don't offer the same mode on PS5.

Let me play what I want on it. Externally saved video files or 3d blu rays etc. Open it up more dickwads. The reason why I have a Quest 3 as well.

Main thing is simply cost.

Get the device down to $199-299, combine it with a more robust lineup, and it would sell a lot better than it does now.
That would be too big a hit on production costs though.

VR is always going to be a smaller market. If they release compelling games, units will shift.

Be the one who figures out motion sickness. One of my kids can’t play VR at all, my friends are all hit and miss. Sometimes I feel like I’m the only fucking person I know who can play VR.

Should be able to reduce the price. I think it's currently sold at a hefty profit.

There's no battery in the device and the lenses are old school.

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Psvr 2 with socom, ps home and than an adventure game could connect millions being bundled with PS5 would be my game plan.

PC support. I bought one and I'll still prefer my games on a PS5 (I travel with it once a month). But it would nice to use it on PC too.

For me PC support (well official support), and a discount would get me in. I think the OG PSVR had the perfect price point. $400-450 would be good for me.

Of course it could be sold for cheaper, but a $400 discount definitely puts it in major loss territory. They would lose more money at $200 then $550 even if sales were higher most likely.

In a year or two it may not be a major loss at $299

I downloaded a handful of full quality porn video encodes when I had a Quest2 last year to see what the fuss was about. They were like 8K, 60-90fps, 180, 3D, 422 10-Bit videos in HEVC with like 100mbps bitrates, sideloaded and played back properly locally; and I was blown away. Not much of a porn person (hopeless, selfless ol' romantic here) but the quality and presence was seriously impressive. Sony don't even have to explicitly allow this stuff, just quietly make it possible by making some sort of semi-open API or something. I can only imagine what the quality will be like on a PSVR2 by comparison. I think it would legitimately encourage more buyers.

A lot of streaming, app-based video stuff for VR usually has absolutely crap quality. Getting more mainstream VR video content and experiences with this kind of quality would be a great move as well.

A proper cinema app with access to 3d movies from Sony and licensed from other studios would be great too (as well as 3D Blu-ray support). I acquired a DCP trailer of Avatar: The Way Of Water last year too and repackaged it into an ultra high quality encode to play back in one of the premium apps on my Quest2 and it was awesome. Why on earth they're not adding such basic functionality I don't know.

Price drop + Alyx port + bigger 1st party games. Just an annoucement would be nice to know Sony's games are coming and that buying the device on a sale will pay off later.

Porn? Partner with a major subscription service, “buy a PSVR2 and get a year free”. Then advertise it all over every regular porn site. It’s certainly not a glamorous way to do it, and it would probably hurt the broader PlayStation brand…but it would definitely drive headset sales 🤷‍♂️

Definitely more VR conversions of existing proper games.

RE4 VR is the first time I've bothered picking up my PSVR2 for months, and it's fucking amazing. I don't care about 'experiences' or short, static games with very little variety, creativity or longevity. VR has long since lost its novelty. I want full blown games with proper campaigns that are of a decent length. These pissy little small scale efforts are what is going to kill the whole damn thing, if they don't get away from them.

If PSVR2 had been just a little bit better, and could be coaxed into working on PC like VR1. I'd have gotten one. For efficiencies sake, I may as well get the PS5 at that point too to access its exclusive VR games (and well, non VR games).

Their failure with it is what took the momentum out of getting the whole system for me. I already have the only Sony headset that is compatible with Rescue Mission. If it won't work on PC there needs to be a bigger critical mass of games by now, or at least BC...we have neither.

It will gradually go down in price when it makes sense financially, on its way to 5 million or so sales and 5% attach rate as PS5 approaches 100 million.
This isnt a console or main platform. It's meant to be used as a complimentary piece to traditional gaming console. Although, if you have a cockpit setup then GT7 VR is enough for you to get your money's worth and so will a HOTAS setup when more flying games are supported.

I think the solution is easy: implement a backwards compatible solution with PSVR1 titles. They gave the middle finger to the consumers who supported their first effort into VR and should correct that.
