Well, what I am looking for is that "HOLY FUCK WOW" moment.
If I need an assistant video for that to show me what I am missing, it's proving my point.
Q.E.D.
The problem is that people auto think its fanboying if you say you're not impressed, or you're saying the games look bad, if you say you're not impressed, when in reality most games from this gen still look good. Saying you're not impressed, or whats shown so far is not meeting your expectations, does not mean you're saying the games look bad.
For me there has been no Killzone Shadowfall moment so far -
Something that really made you step back and go 'wow, that really couldnt be done on current gen'. The ''Killzone Shadowfall moment' so far would of been the UE5 demo, but no game shown so far has come close to that demo, maybe Hellblade 2 but we dont even know if that was true game graphics.
What we have seen so far is the result of the push for 4k and ray tracing. No one can deny that both XSX and PS5 are powerful consoles, but for me if they targeted 1440p with no ray tracing, we probably would of been looking at many Killzone Shadowfall moments so far.

Project Athia looks to be about on par with that demo IMO.
Come on now, it doesnt look close to the UE5 demo, even Horizon didnt come close to the demo imo.
you forgot to add the infamous "game X running at 4k 120fps"Its not Sony's fault. There studios and partners worked together to make some amazing games taking full advantage of PS5. But some people(for example in the next gen speculation thread) hyped it to be something else.
"SSD will let it stream higher quality data"
"PS5 high settings, 3080 medium, XSX low"
Nothing in there event will make 3080 look like medium settings and Xbox Series X low settings.
The textures do look really good, yeah. The textures look really good. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were 8K just like the unreal demo.
To me, for right now, next-gen is about taking the general look of current-gen and filling it out with all kinds of details, lighting, and a general higher fidelity for models, textures, everything. Really giving 4KTVs something to work with, essentially, and it should be utterly gorgeous.
In a couple of years, and already looking at Horizon and Souls, I think it might become a genuinely transformative experience. Certainly that’s been the pattern with the last two generations — mega jumps about halfway through.
Yeah its me.Oh you!
Expectations.
Realistic expectations would have one aware of diminishing returns, cross-gen period and limitations of the current generation of hardware accelerated ray tracing.
When people have to explain you why a game is next gen... It's not next gen anymore.
Listen, I'm hyped as fuck for R&C but am I the only person who noticed the stuttering as soon as they entered the portal and the half-second pause when they exit the portal? My wow this is nextgen moment, apart from the UE5 demo, was the world jumping in R&C. Next gen is not just about graphics.
It wasn't intended in this way. What I mean is next gen should be evident for everyone, like SNES to PS1 or PS1 to PS2.I didn't need to explain to myself, is it because I need to explain to someone else? Someone besides me gets to make this decision? Not a fan.
The only next-gen gameplay footage I feel I've seen so far, is that Chinese Bullet Club clone made by one guy, shown at the first XSX event.
nothing about that says next gen. could easily be a current gen game. if there are any raytraced reflections then it doesn't benefit from a fast paced game like that.
The perfect tl;dr, lol.Just throw every fx at the screen and see what sticks

If someone have to explain us why a game is next gen over another, helping us to notice a particular effect here and there, this means the difference between generations are small.

And people say "no loading screens" umm, what do you think that portal was?
Then they land in worlds, barely move around, there is action all around but its entirely scripted action that doesn't involve player or game mechanics. Not the same as hopping between worlds where everything requires interaction in EACH WORLD, where everything requires AI in EACH WORLD.
These things are possible right now.

How is it not?New game design because of SSD ?
Yeah, I am honestly excited for the new SSD tech. People are seriously underestimating how much impact this will have, even with existing game design. Fast travel in open world games is a chore, costing us our most precious resource... time. Playing The Division 2 and want to fast travel back to D.C.? 15 second wait even on my external SSD. Fast traveling in Red Dead Redemption 2? You’re looking at like 30+ seconds minimum. Imagine fast travel in these games taking a second.I think there was one stutter out of all the portal jumps. Meh, it's pre-alpha.
I don't care whether it was a "loading screen" or not, that's an asinine argument. Jumping from one rich environment to another equally rich environment in a second or so is just not possible right now, you can't load the worlds that fast. A one second portal jump, in playability terms, is not the same as an enter your spaceship animation, followed by selecting your destination on a map, followed by a loading screen, followed by an exit your spaceship animation before playing in your new world a minute or two later.
New game design because of SSD ?
Next generation doesn't mean Better Generation. But at least you must clearly see the difference. It works like this in every busines, when a product is meant to be "next gen".I'd still want to know who decides that, though.
