On the beginning of 3D, 3D looked ugly. Nice.
On its time, that ugly 3D was almost the best a system could put out. You can only say it's ugly from today's tech perspective, which isn't fair.
Back then noone cared about bilinear filtering, antialiasing, resolution or fps, and everyone had tons and tons of fun.
Not playing PSX games because of its 3D is... well, your problem I guess.
That's obviously not true, since there was a console that could do all of those to some degree better than the PS1. It's not like people didn't know those things existed. Horrible framerates are true, but people could tell they were bad, they just accepted it at the time. The hype for the PS2 showed how much people cared about finally getting a console with acceptable 3D graphics.
