I just played Horizon Zero Dawn and...wow | Impressions Thread

The lack of more off screen footage saddens me. Is filming the game not allowed at PAX or something? All the ones I've seen have been from Brazil.

I can't remember if they actually confirmed this or if it was just some speculation, but wasn't it said that you can upgrade you hacking to hack every machine? Maybe it can be turned into a mount lol.


Or a Ubisoft tower that will unlock parts of the map when you hack them.

Think you can hack every one but that doesn't mean you can ride them I believe. They said some will fight by your side and some will be mountable.

Edit: difficulty settings you say? Good I'll put it on the easiest my first go as tradition dictates

I played at BGS also, and it was the best demo there by a mile.

The destructible houses, the rope you can use to slow a fight down or save an important enemy for last, and all the crafting possibilities by the types of material I saw I could gather.

Very hyped.

There seriously isn't some sort of romance gameplay mechanic? It's not a big deal but it's a missed opportunity, in my opinion. Does the MC at least have best friends or close friends that she is very relaxed and comfortable around? I just wanna see her personality.

I went on the first day just for press, so it had way less people, and it took me like an hour and 15 min, it was the longest line for sure. followed by for honor, by the for honor demo was almost 20 min long, so that accounts for some of the delay.

Both games had 8 stations, so decent sized

I believe the footage shown (a story trailer) tells us that
She was cast out before of her origins and therefore only ever lived with whom she now calls her father (I think she does call him father, not 100% sure). So, she'll probably not have any such friends.

Everything FPS at the time was a counter point to Halo. KZ didn't have s monopoly on the Halo Killer moniker.

Horizon had 10 stations, 5 each side

I arrived early in press day so I waited only 30-40 minutes, and was by far the longest line I faced there. (didnt played For Honor tho, cuz I had already played the Alpha)

I mean, that's fine (although I'd say it was pitched as closer to Gears than Halo), but that still doesn't make it a top 3 Sony franchise. There's a little series called Gran Turismo, and Ratchet & Clank has probably sold more than the KZ series.

You're going to great lengths to shitpost about Guerrilla, so maybe we could leave it there unless you have a specific point to make about Horizon?
 
Its funny how everything looks incredible in this game but that off screen snippet of Aloy swimming looked really bad, animation and the water effects were both pretty fugly. Not killing my interest or anything but it did stand out in comparison to just how good everything else looks.
