I'm going to repost this for a new page, because every Star Wars fan should really check it out:

If anyone is interested in seeing why people love that they brought Darth Maul back, please watch the Mandalore arc from The Clone Wars. It's on Netflix and easily accessible. It is up there with the OT for Star Wars stories, imo.

Here's what you'd need to watch:

  1. The Mandalore Plot s2e12
  2. Voyage of Temptation s2e13
  3. Duchess of Mandalore S2E14
  4. Night Sisters s3e12
  5. Monster S3e13
  6. Witches of the Mist s3e14
  7. Heroes on both Sides s3e10
  8. Corruption s3e5
  9. The Academy s3e6
  10. A Friend in Need s4e14
  11. Massacre s4e19
  12. Brothers s4e21
  13. Revenge s4e22
  14. Revival s5e1
  15. Eminence s5e14
  16. Shades of Reason s5e15
  17. The Lawless s5e16
While i don't its trash mostly ok i guess it's funny how some or a lot of the better parts of the Show are elements from the Clone wars.

It's basically only good when TCW characters are there. They pull out better plots (Ahsoka, Vader, Maul, Rex). Even the episode with battle droids this season was among the better ones. Because the people making Rebels care about TCW and those characters so they are continuing that legacy. The normal 20 minute adventures with the Ghost crew are often incredibly cliche, repetitive and not at all very good. I'm waiting for the show to do more episodes like Twilight of the Apprentice or Siege of Lothal, but apparently they can only do that once or twice a season before devolving back into these poor episode formulas.

20 minutes is not enough time to tell a good story. For spending time with these same characters every week I feel we also know a lot less about half of them then some we spent only an arc or two with in TCW. Half the eps are someone gets captured (typically Ezra) and needs to escape too. It's so cookie cutter.

Maul's the fucking best since they brought him back. In Rebels, he's become such a persistent asshole to the Ghost Crew.

Kanan: "Just...just fuck off Maul!"

He looks so sad :(

Rebels really sucks. It had a wicked s2 finale but nothing has come close to matching it. I keep watching this shit hoping it gets better. But it doesnt. There's never any story arc but dumb episodic stuff designed to reel in small children into star wars.

Clone Wars S3 and one was more for older teens and adults. The subject matter greatly reflected it.

Darth maul came back, because he was so damn angry , he just willed himself back to life. IIrc that's literally what happened So sam jack should have come back in 2 seconds

Season 2 was frustrating in that regard you had a great premiere and finale with in between a lot of filler and useless episode which honestly except for the clones episodes and inquisitors introductions you can probably skip and miss nothing. I honestly skipped and missed a lot of episodes because i wasn't interested and felt like i missed little.

What got me was that there was already a ton of good Clone Wars content out there with the books, comics, and Genndy's cartoon. It had already started tripping over itself with like 3 different versions of how Palatine got abducted, then they announced another cartoon, the 3D one, that would supplant everthing that was already done just like years before. And it added an apprentice for Anakin that was never mentioned anywhere else before.

I tapped out hard on Star Wars EU stuff at that point. Disney buying the franchise and nuking all the EU stuff I'd spent years reading hasn't helped things either.

That said, if Clone Wars and Rebels are really supposed to be that good I may dip into them. Eventually.

There was a lot of skepticism around Ahsoka (Anakin's apprentice) but they ended up making her into an incredible character that also made Anakin better. It all worked out pretty well. Don't think there was really any conflict with Palpatine's abduction either. Other than Grievous' portrayal the Gendy Clone Wars (while not Canon) can fit in with the CG TCW just fine without any sort of conflicting elements.

If you do ever watch it I recommend looking up the viewing guide that skips the bad episodes.

The Genndy cartoon was shit. As a longtime Star Wars fan it looked awkward and really cheap. The episodes were too short to even be worth a damn aswell. The CG series is far superior and it lead to Rebels which is tying everything together quite nicely.

Anakin's apprentice(Ahsoka) starts out really annoying(not that crazy for a kid I guess)
but quickly develops and grows as the series goes on.
At the end of Clone Wars she was one of my favorite Star Wars characters, what came after that made her probably my favorite Star Wars character of all.

She really worked well on fleshing Anakin out and making a legitimately likeable protagonist.

Are you talking about her leaving the Jedi Order after being framed by her friend and the entire Jedi council, safe for Anakin had her guilty as charged. Then she shows up in Rebels and fights Vader and gets trapped in the falling cave on Malachor.

Am I missing something?

Seeing the GIFs from the first page: Whatever happened to Asajj Ventress anyway?

She's great in the show. They left it open ended with her becoming a bounty hunter IIRC.

But in a novel that has come out since
they apparently killed her off. Not entirely sure of how or why, haven't read it.

I never could stand the settings of spinning yoda and bitchy Anakin.

Then you add the terrible god awful art of TCW. I can't stand 5 mins of it.

Then you got people putting list of episodes to watch because most of it is garbage it seems.

I'll pass.

More power to those who like it though, To each his own.

As a long time Star Wars and animation fan I'm not sure what you're on about. It did action better than any of the live action movies have come close to in my opinion but Genndy is a master at these kind of things in the animation world. Its not what I'd call cheap by any means and had a ton of great moments.

Rebels on the other hand... yeah no.

Most of it isn't garbage. But there -is- some garbage, especially in the first couple seasons. The lists are to get people past that and straight into the good stuff. I think if anyone starts with Season 3 or 4 they are going to have an overwhelmingly positive opinion of the show even without skipping sub par episodes. The show is an anthology format so it's easy to jump around. It's basically like a ton of feature films broken down into multiple segments.

The list I posted at the top of the page is specifically for people who are only interested in the Darth Maul resurrection story, which is also one of the best plots of the series. It totals under 6 hours and thus is basically equivalent to one of the film trilogies in length, with a story that's at worst on par with the OT.

I love coming to GAF and just seeing how incredibly wrong people's opinions are. Just kidding, but still, could not possibly disagree more.

Grievous' design in RotS made no sense. His heart was basically hanging there naked in the air.

I need a prequel movie explaining this faulty design.

His designer was forced to work on him and sabotaged the project. He got a message to Obi-Wan telling him that if he could shoot the exposed heart Grievous would go down.

Seeing the GIFs from the first page: Whatever happened to Asajj Ventress anyway?

She became a bounty hunter. After TCW
the Jedi Council decides to assassinate Dooku and assigns Quinlan Vos to the task, asking him to convince Asajj to help because she knows Dooku best. Vos and Ventress end up falling in love and she sacrifices herself to save him from Dooku. Vos and Obi Wan lay her to rest on Dathomir. Wasn't really a great book but it has a cool lightsaber duel underneath fireworks after Dooku gets a humanitarian award.

Rebels doesn't do a good job of portraying since she only appears in like 4 episodes but her becoming a big part of the initial Rebel Alliance followed by her actual episode appearances. and confrontation with Vader

It isn't so much about what she is actually shown doing but the complete progress of a character is that final push she needed for me.

So I can watch just these episodes?
For Maul and the Mandalore plot yes. That is as barebones as it can get(if you like those check out the others in the recommended guides.)

Both tie into Rebels.

Maul ties into himself in Rebels,
Both tie into the main character of Sabine from Rebels.
