If Darth Maul is alive, why isn't Mace Windu?

I'm going to repost this for a new page, because every Star Wars fan should really check it out:

If anyone is interested in seeing why people love that they brought Darth Maul back, please watch the Mandalore arc from The Clone Wars. It's on Netflix and easily accessible. It is up there with the OT for Star Wars stories, imo.

Here's what you'd need to watch:

  1. The Mandalore Plot s2e12
  2. Voyage of Temptation s2e13
  3. Duchess of Mandalore S2E14
  4. Night Sisters s3e12
  5. Monster S3e13
  6. Witches of the Mist s3e14
  7. Heroes on both Sides s3e10
  8. Corruption s3e5
  9. The Academy s3e6
  10. A Friend in Need s4e14
  11. Massacre s4e19
  12. Brothers s4e21
  13. Revenge s4e22
  14. Revival s5e1
  15. Eminence s5e14
  16. Shades of Reason s5e15
  17. The Lawless s5e16

There's seriously a character named Savage Opress?
latest

Pre Vizsla...

Eh, Star Wars names are always goofy.

Grand Admiral Thrawn is a fucking sick name though, not even in an ironic/cheesy way. Just sounds badass and could almost be real.

Show fucking won the Emmy for best animated series. The idea it is some GAF made up claim that it's good is laughable right there.

The hatred for CG Clone Wars and love for Genndy CW I see in threads like these is ridiculous.

People like CG Clone Wars because it's legitimately some of the most well-written Star Wars in existence.

People like Genndy Clone Wars because they like Samurai Jack.

Only the movies are canon. To me not even everything in the prequels is canon. Therefore, Darth Maul is dead for sure.

Man, I can't even get that hyped about star wars if the clone wars isn't included in it.

I haven't seen rougue one yet, but it's pretty much only empire that can be confidently be said to be better.

Anakin is such a damn good character.

TCW is canon.

I know it is. I'm responding to that dude. Just imagining star wars without tcw seems pretty dull.

Clone Wars easily has the coolest fucking fights though. It does that thing where my mouth drops because I can't believe how good what's in front of me looks.

Also, it's bs that clone wars gets cut out and we can't cut out a bunch of the.other stupid star wars shit.

Both are damn good. They feel more like companion pieces at times

Huh? How?

Also wouldn't Ezra too young to be Snoke? Wasn't the dude like ancient or something?

I am still hoping Plagueis.

Nobody knows anything about Snoke's age or backstory but Pablo has said that he is his own character and not Plagueis. If he does turn out to be an already introduced character, I would think he might be Gallius Rax.

One of the best Star Wars experiences.

Oh I missed that one.

People dismissing The Clone Wars as non-canon are being bizarrely arbitrary. Like, Lucas himself came up with the core aspects and major story arcs, and all of it passed through him. It's literally just as canon as the films, which is why it was the only thing outside of the films to survive the Extended Universe wipe. It is factually one of the "immovable objects" of the Star Wars universe and has always been. Dismissing it from canon just because it's animated is silly.

Is this the guy the brought back with the stupid looking spider feet? I wish non of that cartoon was canon. What a disservice to a cool looking character.

That lasts for like an episode.

Maul went completely insane, feral even, after Obi-Wan nearly killed him. He fell into a trash container and got dumped at a scrapyard on some random shithole planet and the legs were pretty much just functional garbage he had bolted onto himself while living in a pit eating leftovers and moaning endlessly about killing Kenobi. Shortly after he's found and rescued by his brother he's given actual legs.

This arc also has the best love story in the franchise. Cannot recommend it enough.

One of my favorite arcs. It made Obi-Wan my favorite characters in the whole Star Wars universe.

It also adds more depth to Obi-Wan and Anakin's relationship. Obi was in love with a princess as well, yet forced himself away because of his duty. It's a nice contrast between the two.

You mean he wasn't already?

For shame.

Kenobi is great and he was the shinning gem through out the Prequels but man, Han Solo had so much swagger.

I grew up trying to be a fraction as cool as Harrison Ford.

It wasn't till the Clone Wars animated series where Obi-Wan became the best character in the entire Star Wars series.

The parallels were so good! Just remembering it brings back all the emotions I had at the time.

I believe the explanation is Mace is dead from the lightning before he even gets blasted out of the window. Luke was hit with lightning for even longer but he's the son of Anakin.

Weird that this is now non canon. :(

Clone wars legitimizes everything that was supposed to be in the prequel films.
-Instead of showing pointless shit like Anakin as a child, it focuses on his adult life and genuinely SHOWS his relationships with other characters instead of telling us about them, so none of that "Oh that time we had an adventure" bullshit, just straight up showing instead of telling
-Aligns up with Obi-wan's description of Anakin as there are many moments when they are genuinely shown as friends
-Has scenes between Anakin and Padme that aren't cringeworthy and feel like they were written by people who genuinely understand how relationships work
-Actually SHOWS what makes Anakin the chosen one and more importantly why Jedi are so revered as legends by the time the OT came out
-Explains a lot of the questions behind the prequels, like why the clones were so willing to kill the jedi
-Makes Darth Maul an actual character, as well as Ventress
-Makes the clone wars feel more like an actual war instead of a bunch of pretty CGI battles

That's just a few of the things that Clone Wars does really well and what makes it great.

People keep saying this, but I choked down 3 seasons of that show waiting for it to get good and it was really, genuinely awful.

The show has an unorthodox format. A few episodes of a story, then a few episodes of another story. And sometimes that story would be complete in that 3-4 episode run. Others it would be continued again in another 3 to 4 episode run. This format allowed us to get lots of different stories about many different aspects on the era though. No other time would you be able to have stories focused just on the Clones, or on Plo Koon, or whatever.

Some arcs -were- terrible, especially in the first two seasons when they were very much aiming it at kids primarily. But as the show went on it evolved into something that could appeal to everyone and the quality in writing and animation drastically improved. There were still some dud arcs in later seasons but those definitely became the minority.

If you really watched the first three seasons, then I am sure there are some episodes you enjoyed. I can't fathom anyone liking Star Wars and thinking those first three seasons are complete shit. Even though they don't compare to S4, 5, and 6 they still have some damn good stories, and the start to long running stories like the Mandalore arc this topic is about.

Maul's the fucking best since they brought him back. In Rebels, he's become such a persistent asshole to the Ghost Crew.

Kanan: "Just...just fuck off Maul!"

Rebels is unfortunately trash 80% of the time. It tends to be better when Maul shows up because of the work they did with him, but man is the show such a disappointment after TCW.

While i don't its trash mostly ok i guess it's funny how some or a lot of the better parts of the Show are elements from the Clone wars.

What actually happened is that early CG Clone Wars sucked ass. Which is why people went "nah the Genndy Clone Wars is better." Because it was.

Then CG Clone Wars got better.
