Were you really interested in seeing our reasons for wanting a PS4, because this whole thread is indicative of you trying to justify your love of Xbox to us.
 
FFXV, KH3, and The Evil Within.

Also indies.
 
inFamous and the Order are probably the two most interesting exclusives shown by far for either platform. Some of the indie stuff like Rime have a ton of potential. Best graphics outside of a PC, leading to best multi plats. Love the game centric UI integration. Big fan of the design and the controller looks good.
 
I assumed getting a PS4 was mandatory... but since I have one pre-ordered at this point anyways, I guess my reasons for keeping it are:

Exclusives
PS+
Dualshock4
Existing PS3 Friends also getting PS4
Don't have a cable box to hook up to an Xbox One anyways
 
Because of:

1. JRPGs
2. Gaikai
3. Naughty Dog
4. PS+
5. Better hardware.
6. No Kinect
7. Much more open to Indies
8. Bunch more
 
Dem first party titles and i prefer the Dual Shock. Oh, and the gf is somewhat of a Sony/Nintendo fanboy although she doesn't play games that much.
 
Love SCE WWS‘s games and those artistic games from indies.
Want to play some PS4 games on PS Vita. Would be better if I can play it & go.
 
So why are you picking up Microsoft's next console?

Two caveats:
1. Don't mention tv.
2. Don't mention Kinect.

Just give me the positives of the Xbox one.

Full disclosure: My minds already made up thus the threads pointless.

I don't have TV service and I hate Kinect, but those are two TOTALLY VALID reasons for some people and you have no right to discount them.

it's a christmas gift for someone else.

i'll get one for myself once it's $300 and has a decent library. i'm guessing that means 2015.
 
I am getting a PS4 because :

- I want the best experience for next gen gaming.
- My Vita will be an awesome companion device for my PS4.
- I feel confident about Sonys vision for next gen gaming.
- Cheapest console while being the most powerful.
- Huge selection of games, even at launch!
- SSM & Naughty Gods and various other awesome tried and tested first party offerings.
- PS+. Free games yo!
- I've always bought a PS, so brand loyalty (Not to be confused with "fanboy")
- Reliability. I still have my fat PS,PS2,PS3 and they all still work perfectly!
- Due to the above i like Sony products, I am even looking to get one of their W900 TV's for next gen too.

I'm sure there is more reasons but i think those sum it up nicely.

The two discounted by OP are totally valid reasons too.
 
Becaus I have been with Sony every generation since they got in with the PS1. I also believe that the PS4 will have better exclusives than XB1 just like the PS3 had better exclusives than XB360.
 
  • I will be getting a next-gen console. I don't have a PC with decent specs and I've been waiting for a graphics upgrade for a long time.
  • Sony has never disappointed me with its platforms (never bought a Vita, lol).
  • If I do end up with a gaming PC, the exclusives can still justify owning the system.

Also, it's irrational to ask that we justify this without considering why this choice is better than some alternative. People, especially on NeoGAF, know they are going to partake in next-gen goodness. If they're choosing one system, comparing the two is obviously going to be a huge part of that decision.

So yes, PS4 being more powerful and less expensive than Xbox One is obviously going to factor into "Why are you getting a PS4?" So are other factors like comparing the focus of their first party developers. There's certainly not an objectively correct console - maybe you like Xbox One more and that's fine. What are you upset about?
 
Honestly, if I look at it logically I should probably wait. But I love shiny new tech and can afford it. Playing shooters with friends in the couch in front of the tv is probably my main motivator.

Otherwise honestly my branch new PC(My old one died suddenly after 3 years of service) will be my main gaming machine if we are talking singelplayer gaming and the fact that almost everything non-nintendo looks IMO like it will get PC ports the next few years at least. Probably much longer.

There's nothing on earth (gaming related) than owning ALL the consoles and having access to ALL the exclusives.

I'm 60/40 on getting PS4 over XO now for these reasons:

1. More powerful with a cheaper price (lulz I mentioned price, deal with it...)
2. It launches in Finland this year where as XO is TBA for 2014 (I'd like to play BF4 this year).
3. Playstation gets better support in continental Europe.

Honestly I actually think XO has more interesting sounding games atm which makes this hard. Also I much prefer the Xbox control layout and MS's ecosystem. But I think I'm getting slowly tired of MS's lack of support for EU. I expected them to give a damn next gen but looks like they haven't learned at all.

Yes I know but I do not have money to get both consoles at launch, so I have to choose PS4 for now. I will eventually get an XB1 when price drops.
 
Previous owner of a PS1, PS2
Current owner of a PS3..
Its kinda of a no- brainer for me to get a PS4..
And besides.. the exclusives Sony brings out each generation are unmatched IMO...
 
PS has always been more to my liking, I'm loyal to the brand. Not to mention the exclusives, impressive tech/presentation, and better value for having to subscribe for online multiplayer.
 
1. Amazing launch lineup, specially first party games like Killzone and (free!) Driveclub. Not to mention the absolutely gorgeous Infamous.

2. Dualshock 4 looks absolutely incredible, I'm loving the redesign and new features like share button and touchpad.

3. Great indie games and PSN titles (Rime and Shadow of the Beast look stunning).

4. PS+ is still amazing.

5. My country is officially supported and we have our own PS Store (it's a big deal for me).

6. The system is powerful and more future proof than its predecessor (unified memory pool, 8 GB GDDR5 with high bandwidth, hUMA, powerful GPGPU, separate audio processor, etc.).

7. Nothing in the world of gaming (for me) beats Sony's first party studios in quality. I would hate to miss future masterpieces from Naughty Dog, Media Molecule, Guerilla Games, Sony Santa Monica, Sucker Punch and others.
 
Okay serious reply to topic.

I choose to buy a ps4 because of the two platform holders, Sony have shown time and time again that of the two their platform receives far more variety in both genre and scope, I will pick up an Xbox one eventually when it has a better library and matured a bit, I could do the same with the ps4 but I'd rather be on board and make the most if my existing subscription, As I live in Japan there is almost more or less s guarantee there will be a much wider array of titled to pick and choose from too.

The Xbox one does interest me, just not enough to pay the launch price, I want to be sure Microsoft don't slowly reintroduce things they 180d on over future updates in the sly.
 
Nothing on the Xbox One, nor any of Microsoft's premier franchises (Gears, Halo, Fable, Forza, etc) appeal to me.

PS+ is deliriously good and makes me shake my head at how little I received from my Xbox Gold subscription for all those years.

I don't like Kinect or any sort of forced peripheral that doesn't make sense to me.

I suspect PS4 will be more warmly embraced by indies and Japanese developers.

This is what really sold me for the PS4. I pre-ordered before they announced the indy exclusives but when they did, all I could say was holy shit.

For so long we've been led to believe the "better" console has more (exclusive) AAA titles. So much so, that its almost exhausting to go from one "epic" game to the next. With these indy games, I feel like not only will gamers get to take a break from AAA titles but also receive awe inspiring games that have amazing replay value.

So very excited for this.
