That texture is upside down! Preorder cancelled!

those pretentious game over quotes are the first thing i've seen about this game that i didn't like.

“The gods do not protect fools. Fools are protected by more capable fools.” -Larry Niven, Ringworld series

“How inappropriate to call this planet "Earth," when it is clearly 'Ocean'." -Arthur C. Clarke

Quotes from seminal science fiction authors seems to be squarely in the vein of both the look and feel of No Man's Sky. Don't see how that's pretentious.

Didnt know this was 60fps.
Nice but I don't know, I need more interesting and varied landscapes.
So far, besides the different palettes and occasional flora and fauna variations everything I've seen from the game looked a bit too samey for a game where exploration is supposed to be the main draw.

Especially when their major art inspiration is classic sci-fi book covers

Sean is terrible at showing of the game, give the controller to someone else. I wanted to see someone do random shit, Sean is playing on rails. Really doesn't show off the nature of the game too well.

The pop in is very disappointing.

I wonder if they tried reducing some other aspect in order to reduce pop in? I would totally accept a lower resolution for less pop in.

It's unfortunately unavoidable given how their tech works. You can push out the LOD slightly with a more powerful CPU, but there will be pop-in even on the PC version of the game.

And resolution unfortunately doesn't have much to do with it, as it's mostly CPU bound. This game is going to tax the crap out of that poor low-power PS4 cpu.

I'm realllllllllllllly hoping that the pop in gets worked on before release or that it's not as much of an issue on PC.

It's extremely distracting in all of the footage I've seen.

weren't they also supposedly going to throw in Jaden Smith tweets in? Or was that a joke?

"Its a FAAAKE!" -Senator Vreenak.

It looks good, but I don't think I'm willing to pay 60€ for this. Hopefully we will see some more interesting stuff.

1. Uh, no it's not? The GPU is desktop-grade, although certainly not high-end. That's where they put the grunt of the console. The CPU though, that's a low-power component designed for portable devices.

You should look up the specs of 7970M vs the PS4 GPU.

He's trying to answer questions and give a tutorial at the same time he's playing the game.

Give him a break lol

I really hope that when you reach the centre of the galaxy either a) it's you and everyone else at one single point or b) it opens up travel to the universe.

game looks damn good. also good to see aspects of the game I haven't seen before like weapon customization. not sure if that was other previews, but I've intentionally not been following much

Definitely can see the Destiny influences, which is great since I think Destiny has a fantastic UI.

I also love how colorful everything looks.

Influences? lol, that's pretty much a direct rip-off (in a good way)

I just started playing Elite Dangerous and can already see the tons of stuff you can do in NMS that you can't do in Elite. I'm trying to give it a chance, but Elite looks like a tech demo compared to NMS.

Not only that but Elite played more toward the hardcore space sim side of me. This plays more to the fun exploration, kid side of me. Everything's barrier seems to be really low so you can just pick this up, explore a few planets, and then go do something else.

Those last few minutes 😱😱😱😱🙌😍🙌🙌🙌

And that use of the destiny ui is great. If you are gonna take inspiration, take it from the best in the biz 👍

Another question, has he ever said anything about the center of the universe and what you find there outside of his comments that you'll want to keep playing?

the game makes me think of being mass effect's commander shepard on an open-galaxy objectiveless solo vacation. i'm really looking forward to june 21st

Nope and I don't think you'll see or hear anything about it until players actually get there and post about it. Personally, I think that's great.

Still waiting for a gameplay vid that's not done with the dev sitting right there/doing the actual playing.

What are you implying?

No , the center is the goal .. they aren't going to talk about the endgame considering that the mistery is one of the driving factors behind the exploration

Simple games it should clearly have no issues running at a rock-solid 60. But just look at what the console can do at 60fps in The Witness or 30fps in Uncharted 4. NMS at 60 does not seem unachievable.

In what world is No Man's Sky a "simple game"?

The Witness has basically no AI or physics going on -- it's a realtime Myst.....and even then it was nearly a decade in the making. Uncharted 4 is a linear shooter being worked on by a staff of ~200+ people for roughly 4-5 years. I don't see how either game is a benchmark for what Hello Games' staff of 15 can do.

I don't think that No Man's Sky will be the gut-punch that Firewatch was, but that game is certainly evidence that you can't necessarily assume a high framerate based on the fidelity of graphical assets.

Also relevant:
Is MGSV the only open world game that is 1080p/60fps on PS4/X1?

Out of all the AAA developers, only Kojima seems willing/capable of pushing 60fps in an open world game......and that's still at the cost of having some barren landscapes and a 5-7 year development time.

What are you implying?

I'm not going have a dev sitting next to me showing me the right way to play the game when I get it. All this hand holding makes me think the devs have no confidence in their game's ability to teach the player/have decent breadcrumbs/signposting, etc.

Basically, WHAT DO YOU DO?!!?

I don't understand people that are going to wait. Finding out what the hell this game is with everyone else, good or bad, is going to be half the fun!

Survive. Think of it as a less severe version of Don't Starve but you're travelling from planet to planet instead of spelunking.

Big secrets.

There was a dubious but large info dump earlier this week.

Potential, but probably fake, major spoilers:

At the center of the universe, multiplayer opens up. Team up, travel, trade survive. You can also travel much easier elsewhere in galaxy.

Other cool tidbits like super weapons, large vehices with two-seater cockpits, land vehicles...

Who knows how much was true

Edit: sorry to anyone who saw that before i fixed my spoiler tag!

Then you'll probably be waiting for streamers and YouTubers to get their hands on it. With any luck that might happen right before the game comes out.

While it would be neat to have a game with entire features legitimately hidden from the world until launch, I'm incredibly doubtful this is the case.
