But... What if they enjoy the music?

They do, and that's the point

Then they play kpop songs in between the news for entertainment. And this cultural infiltration is so effective, NK soldiers literally sing these kpop songs to congratulate fellow soldiers when they're done with their service. And mind you, singing those kinds of songs in Pyongyang can put you in a concentration camp in a heartbeat.

From the Reddit post that someone posted earlier https://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/...ong_un_orders_north_korea_military_to/cuae7ih

The lifestyle bragging is almost as cruel as playing K-Pop. If North Koreans even saw how South Koreans eat and believed that what they were seeing was real they'd shit themselves.

Y'know, if I was an average North Korean, contemplating my sorrow each day, K-Pop would strengthen my resolve against the S. Korean invaders.

What I'm trying to say, K-Pop is the evil of the world.

I wonder how many soldiers actually get sent to camps for reacting 'improperly' to it.
edit: Also, play 'Koreans React To...' on massive screens.

is there a recent documentary that shows what it's like in NK?

I was reading since the new guy took over, he's killed 70 senior government officials. Are things getting worse?

edit: just found the doc on Vice... is this pretty recent?

How long until South Korea follows Japan's lead and plasters images on their military vehicles?

They could parade those all along the border while blasting music.

this is...actually pretty awesome

People joke, but this will probably turn the into the biggest crisis on the peninsula in years, maybe since the Korean War.

They started them up in August, and stopped a week later when NK threatened war and started exchanging fire with the South.

They only had them up for a week? I knew they stopped in August but I thought they started and were doing it for a lot longer than that.

They must have worked good to cause 1,000s of defectors in just a week of using it.

Both sides had them and used them until 2004 when they were dismantled under the Sunshine Policy. The South set theirs back up in 2010 after the sinking of the Cheonan but didn't turn them on until last Summer which caused the crisis.
