I think I'm going to go for IMAX, even if there's no IMAX camera-work. I haven't seen a Hollywood movie in one and I've always wanted to. I probably should've went for TDK but two hours always seemed a little ridiculous to see a movie. But I've talked to some friends who would be down with it, and we could probably hang out in the city before-hand.

There are two theaters roughly the same distance from my location. One is pretty much guaranteed to play Inception, as Twilight Eclipse is scheduled to end on the 15th, and that's as far as the calendar goes. It's classified as IMAX Dome. There's another one with a really lousy website that doesn't give any information on their schedule. It's labeled as IMAX Classic.
Question: Assuming both play Inception, which is the better theater?

I'd go with classic. As the name implies, IMAX Dome is in a dome theater and the screen is extremely curved. I've never been in one, but i've heard people that saw TDK on IMAX dome were annoyed by it. IMAX classic is on a flat screen.

EDIT: Inferno said it better than i, and with with pictures.

Gawd damn. I'm just excited to see people like Tom Hardy and Watanabe steal scenes from the likes of Leo and JGL.

It will happen.

The score in that character trailer was great, finally something new from Zimmer. As much as I've loved his past few scores, they are all retreads of earlier work from him.

Nolan really loves Bay's got milk? ads.

@yo_damo

In short, my source was really, really blown away by it.

another Russian journo:
The first 10-15 minutes are hard to understand and the music is… mmm*… but gradually you become more and more interested in the development of the plot.

There are a lot of action scenes, shooting and so on. Not too much of transcendental stuff, the main idea is basically clear. There is some special terminology in the dialogues, which, at the beginning, is hard to crack without knowing the subject of the conversation.

It is closer to The Matrix than to The Dark Knight.

It is hard to predict the box-office perspectives of the movie. The audience can be quite strange. But ‘Inception’ is not just for an average mind**, so to speak, although even such movie-goers might fancy the film. If one puts aside the idea of the movie and watches mere action, the film is still very interesting to watch, at least, to my taste.

Zimmer did say he was working with Johnny fucking Marr (!) on Inception's soundtrack, and doing some electronic work. So good or bad, it'll definitely be different from his usual stuff.

Christopher Nolan is hoping Inception will have the same effect on audiences as Star Wars.
The director has been very secretive about his forthcoming film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Marion Cotillard, but revealed that it was inspired by Star Wars.
He said: "That was an entire world that didn't exist anywhere else before. It only existed in that movie, and then your brain lived in it for a couple of hours, and it stuck with you."
He continued: "Ever since I saw that film, whether I knew it or not, my ambition has been to give the audience that kind of experience. To create a world that they hadn't expected before and hadn't seen before and let them lose themselves in it. There's a huge advantage of jumping into something original that can be anything."
Nolan added that he has high hopes for the film, due out next month, after Avatar stormed the box office.
He said: "I would like to say we were very encouraged by the success of Avatar."

This seems like the kind of film that could turn into a Star Wars like franchise. Dream worlds are ripe for extravagant sequel potential.

And then prequels, with younger versions of Watanabe and Caine's characters.

This also starts off the Hitchcockian streak where Nolan is actually allowed to put himself in his own films.

"But Chris, it's a $800 million sequel, how can I not be asked to come back?"
"We're taking the story in an....older direction."

The marketing budget for Watanbee's character was dropped 100% completely into Asia. Over there, they don't even know Leo DiCaprio is in the movie.

In Travers review he says the best way to
wake someone up in real life is to kill them in the dream.

FUCK THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO BE EPIC.

more on that American Cine article from NF:

“Fundamentally, I wanted every shot to be moving,” says Nolan. “I wanted to base the photography in these scenes on what we’d done with vehicles in The Dark Knight. I wanted to always have a point of view for the camera, to always be moving with the action and putting the audience into the experience. Chris [Patterson] was able to pull off some really extraordinary shots. He was very receptive to putting more and more movement into shots, even little storytelling shots. That footage all cut together with what I like to call a ‘tumbling forward’ quality, where you’re being pulled along with the action.”

Holy shit, that scene isn't CG?

Nope, you remember those leaked on set videos of exploding stuff on streets? We were all wondering what it was. :lol

DanielPlainview, were you at the press event?

Unfortunately, no :( I know they screened it in LA as well as NYC though. I should have gone down!

Similar to what he said about Watchmen.

Dude has awful taste.

Yes, he does. Also, CHUD should never be mentioned, ever. They are but a half-step up the ladder from AICN.

Just read this and found it amusing, re: the hilarious bomba of Jonah Hex (only made 500,000 on Friday and dropped straight to number 10!)

This collossal failure's seismic drop, -74%, from even last Friday's tragic opening, is the sort of humilitainment that Hollywood loves. Problem is, this total writeoff's $120M losses could eat up the profits that Chris Nolan's Inception will make for the studio this summer. Warner Bros' Alan Horn, Jeff Robinov, Greg Silverman, and DC Comics' Paul Levitz, Gregory Noveck, and Dan DiDio have a lot of explaining to do. I can't just shove this one under the rug, fellas.

I only go to the movie theater about 3 times a year and I'm going to be making the trip for Inception. I've never seen a Nolan film I didn't like, Insomnia being the only one I wasn't too crazy about.

Is there any special reason to see this in IMAX? I have a real one relatively nearby; Dark Knight was amazing on it, but I heard this movie didn't use IMAX cameras, right?

The sound is going to be amazing on IMAX. But other than that, you can see it on regular screens.
