BattleMonkey said:Oh god, local radio station spent like 40 minutes talking about the movie. They completely did not get the movie, and people calling in where all over the place with not understanding the simplest of shit. Lot of people complaining about things not making sense, and the stupid DJ's acting like it's too complicated and that they didn't want to see it, and one even saying he didn't understand the Matrix.
I feel like a fucking genius now.
I think, as people who play videogames, our minds are already wired to understand a set of weird and arbitrary rules and how things might work within them. :lolBattleMonkey said:Oh god, local radio station spent like 40 minutes talking about the movie. People that call in to FM Morning Radio shows are just as dumb.BattleMonkey said:Wasn't just the DJ's, but pretty much every caller who called in to comment on the movie or those trying to claim they understood it.
Not surprised at all. At least the first 4 showings for Inception were sold out Sunday morning/afternoon at my theater.DanielPlainview said:Awesome: @giteshpandya: SUN better than expected for Inception. Updated wknd gross is $61.7M, $16271 avg. +$1.3M vs. est.

I agree but do not mind. Movies that evoke an emotional response out of the audience is good.D-Fens said:Am I the only one that was annoyed by people's loud reactions at the end? Let me watch the movie quietly please, this isn't the world cup
Yeah, I got some weird laughs in my theater too. Not too many though, maybe four. I may have done one myself, but I couldn't help it.PumpkinPie said:Everyone kept laughing at the film when I went to to see it, fucking annoying. Meh, there were a few parts that were meant to get laughs out of the audience.PumpkinPie said:Everyone kept laughing at the film when I went to to see it, fucking annoying. The twat sitting next to me started laughing out loud during the zero gravity part.
Even if they did, Nolan shot it with the 2.35 ratio in mind. So even if the IMAX release has more information on the top and bottom, it was shot with the scope aspect ratio in mind, much like on Dark Knight. Same with a lot of films that shoot using Super35 film.DeathNote said:So do 35mm theaters crop the film?
What's up with that dude's nose? How does something like that even happen?WJD said:Funniest part of the film was Fisher's dad's face when he died.

Hence the title of the movie.badcrumble said:The thing I like most about Inception is that it has a tremendous respect for its audience's intelligence. It throws tons of information at you and really does ask you to be able to get it, and yet it gets it across very smartly so that it really is quite possible to digest. And it's also not really manipulative - up until the end I was convinced that someone was going to have some kind of secret agenda, or there'd be some sort of WHAT A TWIST ending, and I was honestly quite glad that it ended up not fucking with the audience the way that so many 'smart' movies to in order to seem deeper. The last shot may qualify as an attempt to mess with the audience's expectations, but I see it more as a final character beat than anything else. It was great, complex, information-packed, and yet it was reasonably straightforward storytelling. Much props.
D-Fens said:He said wide-release.
Wide release is a term in the American motion picture industry for a motion picture that is playing nationally (as opposed to a few cinemas in cities such as New York and Los Angeles). Specifically, a movie is considered to be in wide release when it is on 600 screens or more in the United States and Canada.
Meh, that's not big enough. I'm a size queen.harSon said:According to Wikipedia:
And according to Box Office Mojo, The Ghost Writer was in 819 theaters when it had its wide release.
Mr. Sam said:I don't think it had that much respect for its audience's intelligence. Everything that happened in the movie followed the movie's internal logic - which it strenuously established during the first hour or so - very closely. If someone didn't understand it, it's because they weren't watching.

Someone started laughing during the snow sequence ending and during the final scene. I guess laughing their reaction to not understanding? That's the best I could sort out.
How old is he? This is a pretty intelligent movie. My brother is 16 and (very) mildly retarded and my parents commented on how he probably wouldn't understand the plot.storybook77 said:I wanted to go see it over the weekend but didn't get the chance.
