wat? :lol

Let you watch the movie quietly? You mean after the screen flash black and the credits started rolling? :lol

Oh god, local radio station spent like 40 minutes talking about the movie. They completely did not get the movie, and people calling in where all over the place with not understanding the simplest of shit. Lot of people complaining about things not making sense, and the stupid DJ's acting like it's too complicated and that they didn't want to see it, and one even saying he didn't understand the Matrix.

I feel like a fucking genius now.

See, kids? Listening IS thinking! A brilliant variant of it that two-thirds of the population has yet to master. :lol

I think, as people who play videogames, our minds are already wired to understand a set of weird and arbitrary rules and how things might work within them. :lol

It's a leg up, at least.

FM Radio DJs are dumber than a sack of hammers.

News at 11.

The people behind me were convinced the movie was secretly about the power of Christianity and believing in a higher being. I could never be a director because I'd go Mel Gibson on half the motherfuckers who went to my movies.

Wasn't just the DJ's, but pretty much every caller who called in to comment on the movie or those trying to claim they understood it.
People that call in to FM Morning Radio shows are just as dumb.

"I'm out with my girls right now, and I really want to hear that David Guetta song! We love LMFAO!!!"

ugh, now I'll be waiting the whole movie to see the ending...
I think I'm going to check this out today on the cheap. I don't have work or class and there's nothing else to do. Still dodging at many comments and review I can.

Not surprised at all. At least the first 4 showings for Inception were sold out Sunday morning/afternoon at my theater.

Fuck yeah! I'll be contributing another $10-15 when I watch it again this weekend. :D

Exactly--going on my third viewing later this week :D

I don't get why people are saying Nolan still can't film action. Is he up to Cameron-levels (in terms of consistency with action scenes)? No. But the action in the movie was solid, ranging from decent (
snow level
can get a bit confusing/cuts don't have a great sense of continuity) to amazing (ZERO GGGGGGGG).

The thing I like most about Inception is that it has a tremendous respect for its audience's intelligence. It throws tons of information at you and really does ask you to be able to get it, and yet it gets it across very smartly so that it really is quite possible to digest. And it's also not really manipulative - up until the end I was convinced that someone was going to have some kind of secret agenda, or there'd be some sort of WHAT A TWIST ending, and I was honestly quite glad that it ended up not fucking with the audience the way that so many 'smart' movies to in order to seem deeper. The last shot may qualify as an attempt to mess with the audience's expectations, but I see it more as a final character beat than anything else. It was great, complex, information-packed, and yet it was reasonably straightforward storytelling. Much props.

I feel jealous for all of you that saw it in IMAX. Visually, the movie is undoubtedly a masterpiece (although I really loved the story, action, acting, and soundtrack too) Right when we see the Asian building in limbo at the very beginning of the movie, I said to myself "This is beautiful."

Live in El Paso, TX. 600,000 people + plus a couple hundred thousand more daily from Juarez and New Mexico, and no fucking IMAX. Ridiculous. Plus we don't have an amusement park either but that's another story. Definitely wanna see the movie again.

The world is filled with really stupid people. I can understand being confused at a couple spots but to not understand the entire movie? It isn't like they didn't lay it out for you pretty clearly early on.

I agree but do not mind. Movies that evoke an emotional response out of the audience is good. :D

Everyone kept laughing at the film when I went to to see it, fucking annoying. The twat sitting next to me started laughing out loud during the zero gravity part.

Yeah, I got some weird laughs in my theater too. Not too many though, maybe four. I may have done one myself, but I couldn't help it.
That "paradox" one-liner by JGL was hilarious to me.

I went to see the movie (extremely high) and it significantly changed my life in a positive way.

Best movie ever. I need to see it again. :D

Meh, there were a few parts that were meant to get laughs out of the audience.

Tom Hardy ragging on JGL like 4-5 times (such as when he's pushing him in the chair), and Dileep Rao when he turns around to the van and says, "Did you see that?!"

So do 35mm theaters crop the film?
Even if they did, Nolan shot it with the 2.35 ratio in mind. So even if the IMAX release has more information on the top and bottom, it was shot with the scope aspect ratio in mind, much like on Dark Knight. Same with a lot of films that shoot using Super35 film.

Yeah, not digging the "paradox".

We had one dude laugh when Fischer, Jr. said he was insured for kidnappings. Well, we thought he was laughing, but he was actually having a seizure.

Hence the title of the movie.

I don't think it had that much respect for its audience's intelligence. Everything that happened in the movie followed the movie's internal logic - which it strenuously established during the first hour or so - very closely. If someone didn't understand it, it's because they weren't watching.

He said wide-release.

According to Wikipedia:
Wide release is a term in the American motion picture industry for a motion picture that is playing nationally (as opposed to a few cinemas in cities such as New York and Los Angeles). Specifically, a movie is considered to be in wide release when it is on 600 screens or more in the United States and Canada.

And according to Box Office Mojo, The Ghost Writer was in 819 theaters when it had its wide release.

Yes, the first half of the movie pretty much was all about setting up every single little aspect of the 2nd half, the movie really held the audiences a bit too much. And yet with all the hand holding some people just don't get it... really don't think any amount of hand holding could save those.

i just saw this last night. really enjoyed it. this is what movie's are all about. just really great story telling and great all around. so much things going on in this movie and so easy to get loss but nolan keeps you right there. this is genius writing and directing at the highest level. though i really need to see it again.

I'm not into political intrigue.

You probably shouldn't strut your opinions around as empirical facts then, as posts on this page have shown, there's a such thing as differing opinions :)

Well I might change my mind once I've seen Ghost Writer, but it doesn't *sound* so appealing to me.

Also, there are literally dozens of instances of people saying Inception is the best movie of X time in this topic. It's the official Inception topic, I thought.

"Hur hur them people is floatin! You can't float oh man!"

Someone started laughing during the snow sequence ending and during the final scene. I guess laughing their reaction to not understanding? That's the best I could sort out.

Meh. I have a degree in Film Studies. I love movies. I'm trying to get into making movies. I laughed during a few parts AND I loved the film.

By the way, does anyone know what happened with those bonus track? I read that there were gonna be two bonus tracks with the soundtrack.

Projections
Don't Think about Elephants

What ever happened to those?

I wanted to go see it over the weekend but didn't get the chance. I guess I'll just wait and take my son with me one night this week.
How old is he? This is a pretty intelligent movie. My brother is 16 and (very) mildly retarded and my parents commented on how he probably wouldn't understand the plot.

He's 12 (he'll be 13 in December) but he's a pretty smart kid and loves sci-fi stuff (chip off the old block). If nothing else, he'll appreciate the special effects. I'll be able to explain anything that he doesn't understand though.

I'm contemplating buying the soundtrack. Is it fairly definitive? Does it have the piece from this trailer?
