iOS Gaming Dec/Jan: GET

Guys, Corrypt. Michael Brough's take on Sokoban. 'Nuff said
https://appsto.re/us/OcNgJ.i
Finally got it, and now I'm wondering why I waited so long

What, you need more? Fine, you know Frank Lantz, creator of that little game you might have heard of called Drop7? Listen to him then:
Corrypt is a brilliant game. It is small scale, you can finish it in a day, but it is densely packed with ideas and challenges and mind-altering epiphanies. Corrypt starts out as a simple puzzle game, a set of Sokoban logicmazes wrapped in a light Zelda-esque adventure theme. But as this game unfolds, it playfully twists this structure in a way that must be played to be understood.

Suffice to say, you can place Corrypt alongside Portal and Braid as a game which achieves great effects by experimenting with the fundamentals of its structure.

Corrypt is difficult in both senses of the word. It's difficult like a Rubik's Cube and it's difficult like noise music, avant garde cinema, or modernist literature. It is unconventional and uncompromising, but it is also personal and warm, the carefully crafted work of a single individual, and I found it strangely haunting.

Buy it. Play it. When you get stuck, put it away. Let it sit in your pocket, and in your head. Come back to it later and play some more. Eventually it will reveal its secrets to you, I promise.

This small game, with its rough edges and its cryptic, self-consuming topography, is beautiful and important, and will repay the attention you give it a thousandfold.

papers, please ipad this friday.

It's a really good game!

Pretty depressing though.
Finally! I imagine it'll be one of those games that'll really shine with touch controls. All you lucky iPad owners, you're in for a huge treat if you've never played Papers Please before

^^ Never remember hearing about that game, but it does look good. Another gem that I may need to pick up.
It's a PC port, so most of the articles praising came out when the freeware game was released back in 2012

I've got it on Steam and I'd be more than happy to pick it up again on iPad. It's such a fantastic game and everyone here with an iPad should definitely consider it for a purchase. I'm not sure how the upgrades are going to work in this version though, as they need a keyboard to function

PG is down, what, is TA DDOSing it?!

The Nightmare Cooperative
Wow, another game I've been keeping an eye on. This event has been brilliant.

And remember everyone, keep an eye on Toucharcade, after all "[they]'re your number one source for free games this holiday season."

Those are casual games, then are gamers, and then hardcore gamers. Then there is Electronic Arts. We have to have more terms to explain this even better.

lol

I really enjoyed the first Game of Thrones episode. I hope they don't take too long to release the rest

So sad to read about Lucky Frame.

Nightmare Cooperative really clicked with me and made it to my personal goty shortlist.
A bit of rogue like, a bit of Threes, a bit of RPG, a bit of FTL...all in a melancholic and elegant package (love you can play seamless both landscape and portrait).
You can't go wrong with free...so people download it and try it...I hope you will like it as I did (I still play it).
Your aim is to go to the end of a dungeon...to do so you struggle unlocking new characters reaching certain zones or completing certain 'quests' , that let you go deeper and deeper...

EDIT:
Also...in other sad news, you won't see Paper Please tomorrow because apparently it has been rejected by Apple for pornographic content (I guess we are talking about some pixel art bodies in some papers).

Apple is really ridiculous sometimes.
EDIT: No rejection apparently, I got it wrong...sorry!!!

I don't think you understood the tweet correctly (I know that English isn't your first language). The tweet says:

The iPad version has no full nudity option for the search scanner photos. Apple rejected that build for containing "pornographic content."
To me, that suggests that the current version of the game to be released on the iPad has no full nudity option, as Apple rejected the version which did have this.

EDIT: A follow-up tweet confirms this:

I confirmed with the reviewer that it would likely pass without the nudity. Removed it, resubmitted, and it was accepted today.

AAAAAAAA thanks for clarifying!!!!!
Then it's ok and tomorrow we will play on our iPad?

That makes me happy!!!

Thanks again and sorry for the misleading post!

Platypus Evolution is a genius take on cookie clicker and, I guess, alpaca evolution (or what it was called), which I never played. I really like it so far, cute graphics, though I like the first platypus most.

And yet Apple is okay with accepting games (many, many, many games) that reward the player for murdering humans.

We live in a fucked up society. People more upset about showing naked than showing gore.
That's a penis!

The sad thing is that it isn't some gratuitous pornographic thing. It's kind of pretty important to the game's themes, one of which being sacrificing privacy for security

Anyone else played the marvel F2P fighting game?

It's actually surprisingly deep for a mobile fighting game, although I haven't played Injustice which I've heard is similar

I am playing it-I like it. The fighting isn't too "deep" but the rest of the game seems to be. What characters have you unlocked? I've got 3 two-star characters now: Drax, Thor and Wolverine. The one-star characters I have are Spider-Man, Juggernaut, Hawkeye and Black Panther.

I'd never even heard of Papers, Please until this morning, but it certainly looks very interesting.
So weird seeing comments like this, considering how critically acclaimed it was and all the awards it received. I guess I just assume stuff like FTL, Papers Please, etc. are pretty well known

You're further than me haha, I just have Spider-man, Hawkeye, Vision, and Blank Panther, are Spider-Man and Hawkeye always the first two you get?

I agree, there's a lot of room for more moves, like swiping up, swiping down, not sure if they're gonna try do that or not though

I've not used a PC for gaming for the best part of the last ten years so a lot of Steam-only games have passed me by.

spidey and Hawkeye were indeed the first two I got. I think everyone gets those two at first and then after that all draws are random.

Honestly, I never heard of it either. Console, iOS and Android gaming make me oblivious to the PC world. Guess that's kind of sad. But you really are probably the main resource I have for knowing what on PC was cool and coming to iOS.

Lots of those people aren't legitimately interested in finding out. Community or not, that thread was always going to end up that way. It's predictable.

Exactly, that's why I don't even go there anymore. You just know the baseless hate "anti-mobile" is gonna come pouring down.

Apparently there's not enough "worthwhile games on mobile". You know, half the people who say things like that, I assume they only glance at the top grossing or best selling list and call it a day.

Or they hear about it from people who hate hem. Either way, it's the new evil.

Will add you, my in game name is gavin443. Mostly play as koskha and saw. Karma level is around 15 i think.

Karma level 2, still figuring things out. Koshka is my fave so far and haven't really clicked with any of the other free ones offered this week, still have 2 more to try though.

Saw a reddit post regarding a new release, Simpleplanes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk0DGQEFbak

Looks pretty cool, so I bit. It is somewhat like Kerbal Space Program with regards to the design and building of planes- it is actually really well thought out. An ex Boeing employee helped develop it, and it shows. Customizable wings, weight dynamics that affect lift, etc. It allows you to build all sorts of crazy planes and share them, however there aren't a lot of things to do with them. Also, the actual flight is a little rough around the edges. You can also see the "quick port" nature of the app- many references to things you cannot do on iOS (joystick calibration, controls list letters on a keyboard, etc). It is a very new app, and I can only hope it gets fleshed out. I would love to see more missions, a research and dev aspect like Kerbal, and some more fine-tuned controls. I will get my 2 dollars worth from the sandbox mode alone.

^^^
From the dev of the very underrated SimpleRockets. Instabuy

The dev added tons of content and supported that game for months, so I expect the same kind of post-release support for SimplePlanes

Anyone here picked up Tales from the Borderlands? I'd be interested to hear how it's performance is compared to GoT's
