Er? You know you're getting half that right?

...and when 4.0 include a dick sucking app, I will enjoy the hell out of it and laugh as you masturbate using your human hands... :lol

Hands...how 2008.

YOUR LOSS!

I set up a Student ADC account back when I was in college a few years ago. Will this let me download the OS 3 beta for free or is the $99 iPhone Development fee separate from joining ADC?

holy shit, there are people STILL bitching after this announcement? it seems like they added everything from MMS to landscape typing. what else can you people complain about?

did they announce 2.0 like this? early, before the announcement of the 3G iphone and then release it with the 3G?

That train departed with whatever ipod came after the ipod video. I'm currently using my 60 gigger as part of my video media server : )

I only read that iPod Touch pays $9.99. Same as last year.

A notice: You can simply download updates via torrents and then select iTunes to update using that file (shift click or something like that).

Presto, update, no charge.

Its just the childish entitlement brigade. Somehow their 300 dollar wonderdevice is invalidated by no usb storage.

I dislike your open pirate ways like I dislike the stutter in your avatar animation!

I dislike your defense of a charge because of accounting rules like I dislike how your avatar never solves! Perpetual chaos.

Aren't there apps for that? I've seen them around on the app store, but never tried them myself.

I propose a truce. Please accept these two alternative avatars as a treaty:

I'm so amazingly excited that texting and e-mail is finally gonna be landscape. I've been so pissed about that since the day I got the iPhone. Makes me wish the update was coming out now instead of in 3 months.

Anyway, I bought a 3G back in December. What's the over/under on me being upgrade eligible when the new one hits?

doubtful. i believe the rule was it had to be purchased within the last couple months to upgrade to 3g. probably the same here in june.

Agreed. This is one thing I never understood why Apple didn't implement. They had horizontal keyboards in Safari but not mail... bizarre.
Too busy trying to keep Safari from crashing every 30 seconds probably.

Hmm,

Updating devices to iPhone OS 3.0 beta software. By installing iPhone OS 3.0
beta software on your Authorized Test Devices, these Devices are permanently
“locked” into testing mode and cannot be restored to earlier versions of iPhone
OS.

From the Pre-install advisory. Is it worth upgrading on my personal phone?

dude wait at -least- a week for the rest of the internet to get burned or not. Just develop in the simulator for now.

So...where does your avatar come from? ...and what type of pie is that?

I feel like I deserve an answer.

Waaaaaaahhhh.... too bad for you then. They're only worth it for, oh I dont know, 98% of iPhone users.

And your iPod CAN be used as a WIRELESS USB disk, and you'd know that if you'd spent 6 seconds looking it up. Theres a ton of apps on the appstore that use wifi to establish a connection to send/receive any type of file. Air Sharing (free) works flawlessly. You want a standard USB connection? Go buy a frikkin 8GB drive for $10. It's a non-issue, unless your whole intention is simply to bitch (since you apparently find the myriad of additions to 3.0, most of which everyone has been asking for, all completely useless)

Afraid not on that first part. It'll only let you download 2.21 for now. I suspect this will change when it's final.

So out of all this stuff are we going to be able to change our wallpaper without jailbreaking ffs.. :lol

You know, I never understood this whole 'I want to use a custom wallpaper on a screen that is completely filled with icons, so that I can hardly see both the icons and the wallpaper' shit. I mean, you really need a wallpaper when you're flicking through screens of icons? Why? The homescreen is for your wallpaper.

Its like asking why you cant use a frikkin wallpaper on your start menu, or as folder backgrounds. Its ridiculous. The iPhone icon screens ARENT equivalent to a desktop. This is one of the control decisions by Apple that I agree with. Making it harder for people to uglify and reduce the useability of their phones. I understand how some have an obsessive compulsive disorder to customize every facet of every interface. But theres very solid, logical reasons as to why some elements shouldnt have that option.

I've never understood the whole "I'd rather they not give people the option to choose wallpaper because I don't like the way it looks" argument. The choice should be there. Tons of other phones have it.

Well I'm not an obsessive customizer at all but I've jailbroken my phone a few times just to use a custom background. If you keep the patterns and colors simple enough they won't clash with the icons and actually make the screen pop a lot better. Plus I've had this thing for almost 2 years so it's nice to change things up every now and then.

In this day and age people expect at least the option to customize something as simple as a phone's background image. Let people do what they want, what's the big deal? If they somehow find it offensive and obtrusive they can just go back to black. I know Apple is a stickler for design control though so it's not unexpected. There are plenty of ways around it so it doesn't really bother me.

MySpace let people use black text on a black background and we all know how that turned out. Sometimes it's worth limiting options to protect users from their own stupidity.

but there is no background on the Iphone. Its all filled with apps.

And tons of other phones are shit. Apple should redesign a beautiful working interface to accommodate people who want to make it look like Windows Mobile? There's a reason you can't do it, it breaks the interface.

Apple went with large icons that fill the screen to present the user with a clean usable interface. You can't add background wallpaper without having to alter that design choice, and they don't want to do it. It will cause other problems. Suck it up and jailbreak, you can make your screen look as crappy as you want.

Ugh apple's background for the dock is disgusting. First thing I change anytime I jailbreak a phone.

Sorry but this is complete bullshit. I love my iPod Touch, but having to jailbreak to change the background is pretty ridiculous.

I have a background and it does nothing to the "clean usable interface". Claiming that it breaks the interface is... laughable.

It no more changes how the iphone operates than changing the desktop wallpaper on your computer. Its basic functionality that should be included in every computer device.

Now since I feel this way I just jailbreak every time, but this is pretty basic stuff and I simply cannot understand any, any argument for its exclusion.

That said, it is still the best piece of consumer electronics ever.

no, it's not BS. most wallpapers make it harder to read icons and text on the iphone screen.

you may not have any issue with it but others do. including, obviously lots of designers at Apple.

and since it's such a fucking trivial thing anyway, Apple has put this down as priority number ten thousand on their list of shit to do (if ever).

So you can keep on jailbreaking but please don't think that adding wallpaper is a) better and b) important.
