they dont have triple AA,double A o A,there is any exclusive series x game at launch?
Well... If you think that games released also on pc are not exclusive, then the SX and SS will probably never have one.

Otherwise, it has games like The Medium and Scorn I think.

I am not an Xbox guy, so... Yeah.

Have you seen improvement in gameplay in the footage Sony has provided ? I have seen the comparison videos, it is the exact stiff animations, the exact gameplay technics, it actually does seems to have the exact gameplay. Maybe I am wrong and there’s hidden stuff in there but as of right now I have seen nothing different , other than graphics (which don’t actually curbstomp anything but Sony fans are used to hype graphics of PlayStation games to high heavens so I won’t really bother arguing about that).

It is an 80€ remake, trying to position it as some big exclusive , yeah o.k no. Now if Sony had a ps5 horizon 2 , for example, as a launch game then we could talk but the way things are , this is just more unsubstantial noise from Sony fans.

Dont know how you can critisise graphics, animations after what was shown on XSX.

By the time I've looked through my 500+ Xbox,360 and One games and checked out both Series S and X with stuff like the 120fps Gears update etc it will be Black Ops Cold War time and then Cyberpunk, that's the year for me really along with continuing with Warzone which looks like 4k 60 on Series X.

I know MS have 20+ first party studios so there will be plenty of games on the way.

oh they have psnow,i know that gamepass embassators and console warriors act like it doesnt exists, but its a decent equivalent at cheaper price

99 of world game studios wish they had that rot/burnout,tlou2 haters are a funny bunch, delusional but funny

You do realize a lot of people dislike TLOU2 for legitimate reasons, right? There's tons of flaws to the game (from the story, to the gameplay loop structure, to tepid iteration/innovation on game mechanics, to some of the dialog, to the degree of violence and nihilism etc.) that can be picked apart without being a "hater".

In fact just going around screaming anyone with legit issues towards TLOU2 as a "hater" is a simple way of ignoring the reality of how a lot of the gaming community (outside of shill reviewers) felt about the game in honesty, start-to-finish.

It wasn't a vocal minority online, though. Very mainstream streamers not involved in any of the leaks or controversy, for example, I could tell they weren't liking the game the further they got into it and some near the end didn't even finish the game. That's solely down to the story and narrative, which they didn't like.

Again, quite mainstream folks, "normies" if you will, and it wasn't a story they resonated with. That in itself doesn't make it a bad story to be fair, and if I worded things that way I apologize. However, from what I've seen of the story and the way it's told, the themes and how they're presented, the way in which certain things are depicted etc., the story has a lot of problems.

There's also a wider meta-narrative with Western entertainment I unfortunately have to factor into this as well, if being honest. And that's not exactly a positive meta-narrative, as we can see from multiple products in multiple entertainment mediums.

The launch lineup for both consoles are terrible granted the ps5 does have godfall, demon souls and smMM. But in the end 1 is a "dlc" spinoff, another is a remake and who the fuck knows about godfall. Both will launch and everyone will be playing COD and whatever else is 3rd party.

this whole narrative of " ps5 launch is terrible because demons is a remake" its getting old by the day,and its not working,we know ms fanboys use it to deflect they are starting the generation with NOTHING ,ZERO,NADA a single exclusive title,so they need to rest merits to the ps5 games

Sure, all the Uncharted games and all the Gears of Wars are dlcs (with U4 as exception).

PS5 has a launch lineup, and isn't terrible.

Yes, haters made a lot of noise but it's a massive sales success and has an insane critical acclaim on the gaming media reviews. And looking at the completion rate we know a lot of people like it, or at least way more people than what it's the average in games completed it. And this is considering it's way longer than this type of games.

Prob time we retired the word "haters" because people aren't using it correctly anymore.

The game had big early sales because that's what most highly anticipated AAA games do. The sales dropped off a cliff though after the first week or so especially in areas like Asia. A vast majority of the critic reviews either didn't focus on the gameplay or only looked at the story from the angle of "subverting expectations" and "sticking it" to the patriarchy, that kind of stuff.

Plus we don't even need to get into the huge disconnect between the critics and most actual non-critic gamers. TLOU2 really is The Last Jedi of gaming, I don't think that's exactly flattering. And it's kinda telling how Sony themselves aren't really focusing too much on the game anymore; Ghosts of Tsushima's been getting a lot more spotlight from them since its release than TLOU2 has. I think, internally, they "know".

But, that's just a personal opinion. You're free to disagree, I just hope people see it's not always "haters" who see issues into TOU2 and even its market performance and overall reception, in hindsight.

That "bad precedent for the industry" ship has already sailed when the paid online gaming sub became a thing. Heck you can go even back when the horse armor dlc became a thing.

Does it really matter when they have both TLOU2 and GoT within a couple of months of each other? Especially after jerking the curtain with Nioh2, Dreams, and FF7r. Meanwhile Xbox have fuck all to respond with, they even screw the pooch with Halo and are forced to launch Series S/X with a tarted up version of the last Gears title.

Launch week sales were insane compared to the big Sony games. Post launch week had sales similar to other games successful games like TLOU1.

I mean, it isn't that it sold poorly after the launch week. The thing is that it had too crazy numbers for the first week, so everybody already had the game. I think Covid also increased the early sales, because many countries were in lockdown shortly before it and there was a huge spike of new PSN users (so consoles sold) during that lockdown, and that was the first AAA being released after that.

A vast majority of the critic reviews either didn't focus on the gameplay or only looked at the story from the angle of "subverting expectations" and "sticking it" to the patriarchy, that kind of stuff.

In my personal opinion, I hated how they 'subverted expectations' (the Joel thing more the how than what they did), I think most of the new characters are bad choices and fillers to make sjw happy -like to include a hispanic guy just to have someone who looks like Druckmann and spits Joel and other than that it's in the game just to say 'pendejo' and to check in their representation checklist the latino character- that didn't have the charisma of the first game. I would have removed several characters, I'd changed other ones (I think it's stupid to make an effort to the women look uglier than their actresses) and I'd changed the order of some areas of the game to explain better what they try to explain. But I recognize that these things are personal tastes and all the other areas of the game have an excellence level that in many areas is top notch.

I know many people in gaf and similar places took the anti sjw and stuff made to Joel and other criticisms that I understand to another level, but it's just a tiny portion of the market. Looking at metacritic, sales and completion rate we know most people loved it. Nothing related to The Last Jedi. If something, it's like the criticism to games like FIFA or CoD in places like neogaf where many people throws shit at them, laugh at them and whatever but when we go to look to the top 20 best selling games of the decade almost all games are from this IP or from Rockstar.

Otherwise, it has games like The Medium and Scorn I think.
Scorn isn't a launch game, we don't know in which year is going to be released.
The Medium isn't a launch game, it's a timed console exclusive (so it's coming to PS5 in the near future) to be released on Xbox this December.

If I don't mistake, the only new console exclusive game that Series X/S will have at launch is Falconeer, an indie game made by a single guy. The other ones are multi games and refurbished previous gen games. And a 1-2h long demo of the next gen improved version of a previous gen game.

It's funny, cause while the Xbox One had games and bad pr, the Xbox Series has good pr and no games.

Actually isn't the Series X launching with 4K Gears 5? OP didn't say "new" game in the title so that should count lol.

It's also launching with Gears Tactics, which IS a full game, not a DLC/expansion or remaster and new to console AAA. OP conveniently forgot about that one.

I've not CatLady CatLady . Maybe it's you who forgot when Gear Tactics actually released. Hint: April 28, 2020.

I think MS should have had one launch title. It would have worked out better. I think they will have more next gen looking games next year, then sony will release. Before this purchase we still hadn't seen anything announced from half the studios.
What games are those?

Sony's slate for 2021 look like this: Returnal, Horizon II Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, Gran Turismo 7, Kena Bridge of Spirits + whatever else I'm forgetting or I'm not privy to.

I'm really not worried about MS first party at all. I have little doubt that they are going to put a lot of money and resources into constructing high quality games and we will see them in due time.

I agree, by law of averages, with so many studios, eventually some will produce good quality content. 2022/2023/2024 should be safe bets on the timeline.

Cyberpunk 2077 is pretty much the only game that matters this fall
Maybe I'll fire up Demon's Souls in 4K 60 on my PC for laughs

For the laughs indeed.

It's a huge failure on MS part because of expectations for Halo that they caused, and especially due to how hard they worked to reposition themselves starting this November. But life goes on and they do deserve some credit for delaying the game when they realized it was necessary. And on the notion of fairness, I am excited for some of PS5's launch games, but primarily for remasters. So it's not like Sony is really dunking the ball when it comes to next gen offerings at launch IMO.

I don't think they had any other choice than to delay. Now I understimated MS's management capacity to reason when I was sure they would release the garbage we saw but it seems Phil isn't as dumb as he can sometimes look. Phil knows if he released that game in such state with 12 weeks to go he would be burying the Halo franchise forever and dropping a big fat stinker on his hardware launch. He still was dumb for greenlighting that demo to be shown at the July showcase. Test to see what he could get away with. Maybe he underestimated gamer's expectations, but my cynic side tells me it was deliberate.

Typical Gaf poll. Views other than OP's not accepted.

As of this moment there are 340 votes out of 483 that don't conform to OP's point of view.

All will be forgiven if Scorn releases this year.

A shame they made it a slow first person shooter. Hopefully all the silence and time on the books is for the better.

It’s unacceptable that Sony does not have a Game Pass equivalent.

PS Now? 700+ titles?

Nah, I want our games to stay in the oven. I want to be blown away and the only thing I have seen so far that has done that is Hellblade 2 trailer. We got Game Pass to get us through 2021 and Halo Infinite so I am good. 2022 going forward is all about Xbox Studios.

What games in Gamepass will get you through 2021 if "your" games stay in the oven?

On PC.

It's releasing on console Nov.10, 2020 with the launch of the Series S/X. Hence it's NEW to console on that date.

Neat, it's still not the same.

You can rent games (more games than Gamepass in fact). You can download games to play them locally. You can play games on the Cloud. You can play Sony's industry leading exclusives etc.

They're definitely not the same - one is on PlayStation, the other on Xbox. Just like the consoles themselves are not the same. However, you said "equivalent" - it's reasonable to conclude that it's - with its own areas of strength even.

Just saw the comparison between spider man on the ps4 and spider man on the ps5, for which sony is charging big bucks. Yeah, gears of war 5 ( and Forca horizon 4 and possibly more games) will have much bigger improvements on the XSX for free, MS should call it a remaster just to have a big AAA launch title and charge for it, I guess.

Sony has some great games, and Gears and Halo are so last gen. It would be nice to see Xbox get some comparable games for once. Really only Forza Horizon series was a slam dunk this gen for Microsoft.

Microsoft have nothing to show off the Xbox Series X so they went back to update gamepass games like Gears 5, Horizon 4 and SOT or else there would be ZERO reason to pick up a Series X if you already own Xbox one X or PC.

Now the dummies are championing this as a FREE UPGRADE! Pro-consumer! while Sony is charging 20$ for a remaster when it's actually desperation because they have nothing else. Also, these people are all gamepass subscribers so they don't actually "own" these games.

You tell me. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Is there going to be any other big AAA 1st party exclusive other than Halo?

Looking at the Xbox website and their recent trailers seems they won't be crossgen, which should be they would be released in November 2022 or later if the 'all the MS games during the first 2 years of Series X will be crossgen' promise is true.

So 2021 for new Game Pass games should be Halo, previous gen games, some indies (some of them full console or console timed exclusives) and maybe a few AA timed console exclusives.

Exclusives don't matter anymore.
Well, I think the main reason of why Sony is breaking many gaming history records with PS4 are the exclusives. Same goes with Switch even if it achieves less records.

I assume MS also thinks exclusives are important because they spent $10B on buying some of them and studos who make them. Games that they still would have on Xbox and PC without spending these $10B.

It's a constant problem as these companies brain storm ideas to fatten their bottomline.

The defence that some posters put, not to mention the mariad of insults thrown my way when I made the thread calling them out was a beauty to behold. Still children.

What's the point of the region launches not counting? Worldwide launches weren't a thing until so recently. Saying that a NA launch having NA launch day game exclusives doesn't count is just arbitrary and doesn't actually serve to prove the point you want to make at all.

The only time we've really seen a brand new console come out without software made just for it on day 1 is the Series X/S and it's because Microsoft fumbled the ball. I don't know why it's such a hard thing to grasp.

Kratos/TLOU2/Horizon/Uncharted/Days Gone/Spidey still deserve direct answer's in competition from Microsoft that actually exceed those games.

Particularly Kratos/TLOU2 - Microsoft could easily come in as it did with Gears Of War and reinvent the 3rd person narrative driven game, and do it while again
giving us two next gen leaps in game play - as it did originally with Gears of War. A game that made PC Gamers Jealous and PS owners jealous up until the end of PS3's lifetime when TLOU (a direct/sidestep answer to Gears) released.

So far it looks like Microsoft has direct answer's to these titles

Hellblade 2 / Horizon

Forza Motorsport 8 / Gran Turismo 7

Everwild / Zelda: Breath of The Wild

Ori / Numerous Sidescroll Mario Platformers/ Little Big Planet

but they still need games that exceed the above mentioned titles Particularly Next Gen Kratos and TLOU3
because as gamers we deserve it. And Microsoft already proved they can steal the narrative of meaninful gameplay away from it's competition
with Gears of War once before.

Now what it mainly needs are meaningful rich worlds and stories to go along with it's next 3rd person IP's.

There is the problem with Sony gamers they think Sony's way is the only correct way. That Microsoft should be a shitty second rate Sony instead the best Microsoft. I don't want knock offs of the Sony template I will get those on the PS5 when I buy one. I want those Microsoft studios to do their own thing. I want obsidian entertainment to make avowed not a days gone clone. I want ID to make another great FPS not ghosts of tsushima clone. Sony studios have their strengths Microsoft studios have theirs. Let them be different. Hell blade is nothing like horizon one is melee combat the other twitch shooter. Inexile has a action rpg with a senior combat designer who worked on the god of war reboot.

This gen will be quite different than the last. It's more like Sony has nothing to answer:
Starfield
Avowed
Fable
Elder Scrolls
Fallout
Wolfenstein
Doom
Halo
Prey
Dishonored
The Evil Within
Gears Tactics
Halo Wars
FS2020
Forza Horizon

Plus:
inXile unannounced WRPG
Unnamed The Initiative game (Perfect Dark?)
And I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch.

In the new gen XGS is not stuck in making games in only 1 or 2 genres like Sony. With 23 studios (some with 2-4 dev teams) they now have the ability to create a huge library of diverse AAA games in every genre.

You can't come up with a single game? Group of games? Award winning games? Game of the Year games? Game of the Generation games? Odd...

Well this in relation to me is quiet wrong, I'm a Microsoft fan and consumer 1st - I want Microsoft to continue giving us direct answers AS THEY HAVE BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST DECADE WITH GAMES LIKE FORZA

for the rest of the narrative Sony has attempted to steal away from Microsoft, that narrative being "We make better 3rd person games than you who came out with Gears of War a decade ago now"

So you categorically incorrectly label me a Sony gamer and I am anything but.

I have never once owned a Sony Console.

Have you?

Now with that out of the way, Again - Microsoft has shown it is no stranger to EXCEEDING SONY with better titles as it has done so with Forza, look's to do with Hellblade 2 - want's to do with Everwild as a type of direct answer to Zelda / Breath of The Wilds art style.

I hope Microsoft will continue this trend

By offering better games that match/EXCEED Kratos and TLOU... which would be the long waited reply needed ever since Sony decided to try and take back the 3rd person story driven narrative.

Which also happen to unabashedly be Sony's attempt's/Direct answers to sitting back for nearly an entire Console cycle and then finally saying "Damn we really need to come out with games to compete directly with Gears of War"... then Enter TLOU with Multiplayer, and Kratos with a meaningful narrative driven story.

You mistake the need for MORE competitive titles in this arena.... direct answers - which I've PROVED Microsoft is no stranger to - for some random secret sony guy asking for clones that actually don't exceed/don't improve what the competition have on offer... or in actuality make 2 generational leaps as the original Gears Of War made when released.

You also incorrectly somehow view this as a bad thing.

You are categorically wrong in your assertion about me and wrong about Microsoft needing to exceed the competition in these Arenas while still giving us just as many FPS/ FP RPG/ FP Games along with Gears of war and Ori.
