Is this the year a downloadable game gets GotY?

This is my GOTY. The only Persona game you can't download :(

Doubt it.
But then again this year definetly doesn't have a clear cut winner like most of the others have had. Since mainly not a lot has come out in terms of GOTY scope to scoop up all the awards.
So it'll be interesting to see what gets the majority of GOTY this year.

Is Halo 4 not going to win GOTY?

Most of the reviews ive seen have been just about the solo Campaign, but isnt Halos big draw Co-op and MultiPlayer.

From what ive played War Games is amazing and I might become a full on Halo player abandoning my CoD games for this year.
Also, Spartan Ops is a damn fine idea.

A downloadable game has never been GOTY? I thought Megaman 9 got a lot of noms (but then again, that was a slow year). Hell, in 2010, Scott Pilgrim was my GOTY (over GOW3, Megaman 10, DKC Returns, etc)

It sets a good example. People only care about it because the writing is so good, no one's going to support some lazy big publisher version. This and Obsidian games show how much people will forgive when the writing is so good.

That being said it's an adventure game it can get away with almost no gameplay. A RPG or action game can't.
Yep, agreed.

I agree however..

Best Writing does not equal Best Game

Not only is The Walking Dead lacking in gameplay, much of the gameplay it does have can easily be labeled as bad.

But WD is a game heavily relying on writing. The gameplay it has is generally classic adventure stuff like "Find the batteries", "Start the engine" and so on. I wouldn't say it's bad, I think it works well as a break from the events of the plot in this case.
Granted, it's not my best game of the year, but I think it's the one that I'll remember most from this year.

I do like my downloadable/indie games but nothing I've played this year (downloadable or retail) comes close to Xenoblade. Tokyo Jungle and FTL are freaking blasts though. And I have a feeling that while the gameplay may not be my thing I'll at least appreciate the music in Hotline Miami, based on what others have told me.

I'm always kind of surprised when someone makes a distinction between a fully downloadable game and something that is also available in retail.

Germany is ruining it for everybody anyway with many games that are download only elsewhere lining our retail shelves. My boxed copy of AI War: Fleet Command is just for laughs but I've seen Terraria, Binding of Isaac, To The Moon, Killing Floor and some others. Usually fairly overpriced but retailers keep stocking them so there's gotta be people who buy them. This is one publisher. We have several more like that.
