I haven't seen many but I liked H2, Dragon Zakura and Nodame Cantibile. I would kill for a drama version of Beck. I love the anime and manga for Beck.

Beck might actually make a decent drama, kind of.

Had nothing to do tomorrow so I just saw 3 chapters of Nodame Cantabile in a row. It's way funnier than I expected :lol :lol

I liked Gokusen, even though it got to be painfully formulaic. Nakama Yukie was a big draw. :D But recently I tried watching Erai Tokoro ni Totsuide Shimatta, and it was more annoying than I could stand. So I'm watching Ito Misaki in Yama Onna Kabe Onna.

yeah, the Nodame live action is hilarious, the 5th episode is the best tho.

I suggest watching Kimi Wa Petto. It stars the guy that plays Domyouji(sp?) from HYD and it's a romantic comedy. It can get pretty depressing at times too. Just don't google for the English translation of the title; it may make you not want to watch it.

I might check it out after I finish Bambino, which so far is pretty good.

I got the first episodes of a bunch of series from this thread and ill check them out eventually.

all the otakus have to watch akihabara@deep
quite a funy show where they uglify all the girls even tho they kind hot in real life

:o a live drama version of beck would be jawesome.

Casting would be quite interesting for a Beck drama. I'd go with Leah Dizon for Maho. She speaks English fluently since she lived in the US for most of her life. Don't know if she can act but she sure is nice to look at and thats what really matters.

EDIT: What the fuck is this shit? Is she purposely dumbing down her English or is Japan getting to her?

the only real hard one to cast would be Chiba, other than that I dont think it would be too hard.

and Leah Dizon may be too old to play Maho, im guessing Leah Dizon is in her mid 20s or so, Maho is in her late teens in Beck I think.

Damn, Nodame Cantabile is great, It's up there with GTO. Not that i have seen more than 3 j-dramas anyway, but as soon as I'm done with NC I'll pick up another. Probably
Sexy Voice and Robo, since I enjoyed the manga scanlations from mangascreener some years ago.

Leah Dizon is turning 21 this month... I totally think she could fit the role...

iirc maho is like 15 or 16 in the manga. i'm not so sure that casting her that young would fly so well in a drama though, and leah dizon does look freakily like i imagine maho would look in real life.

anyways, i think the quality of a beck drama would depend on the music more than anything else.

Yeah, the anime sucked because of that.

I think the closest Beck has to a real life counterpart is One OK Rock or HY

Beat Crusaders suck imo.

I didnt mind the music from Beck, I thought some of it was alright.

the one happy point about the Beck anime ending shortly is that they didnt have to deal with some of the songs mentioned in the manga.

and if a Beck live action ever does happen, I would want the people who play Chiba and Koyouki to sing the music themselves intead of dubbing it over with another persons voice.

I also kind of think Paradise Kiss could work as a drama.

i'm not really clued into the japanese indie scene, but if it sounds like this i think i'm only going to be disappointed.

Well, those are the only two bands out here that have singers with nice voices and rappers. One OK Rock doesn't really have any slow songs. Hy has a couple songs that could be "Baby Star" like "tegami" for instance. The only issue with them is they also have a female vocal (which I guess they could turn into maho, but whatever).

The lead singer of One OK Rock also used to be in the awful pop group "News" so he probably at least has a bit of acting chops.

For the love of god, watch Stand Up. It's like the best show ever made.

Do not take this advice...... v.v;;

Er, what? I watched it subbed like 3 years ago.

Anyone watched the awesome Korean drama called Coffee prince? It has some similarities to hana no kimitachi e but the humor is ten times better. I cant count how many times I :lol . Must watch for those who like My girl and Full house. One thing I noticed is that Koreans make much better comedy than the Japanese.

; ; Who by? The only other option I see is a) apparently really poorly subbed and b) so old I can't get hold of it within a decent amount of time. >.>;; Maybe it would take less then a year, but, yeah........

im have the first episode that I might check out after the one im watching now, if I like the first episode enough I might watch the series next.

I got the first episode for that one also, is it supposed to be bad?

I watched the first few episodes (I downloaded them without watching any) and it's so amazingly horrid. I seriously couldn't believe what I was watching..... If you have the first ep watch it and you'll know what I mean.... It doesn't get any better between there and ep 4 at least. lol

I doubt I will check out the first episode for quite a while, I think I will watch Stand Up next, then Gokusen.

Bambino was pretty good, some parts dragged on for too long, but since it was based in a restauraunt, it kept me really interested.

I finished Nodame Cantabile already, but the subs said something about Nodame Cantabile II. Are they really continuing with the drama?
Anyhow, I really liked Nodame and GTO, what should I get next?

Nodame Cantabile special sometime early next year. Should be fun.

There is a manga that continues long after the drama ends.

She can speak enough Japanese to get by... Aside from that, you can't hate on her for being pretty, no matter what you think of her talent, she's doin' her thing.

Been watching Nodame and it really is quite fun. lol I'm enjoying it quite a bit more then Orange Days and Tiger & Dragon. Hopefully them two pick up soon.

So since making this thread, I've watched a few more J-dramas.

Finished off Gokusen, watched the latest subs of Yama Onna Kabe Onna, finished off Dragon Zakura and starting to watch Bengoshi no Kuzu.

Yama Onna Kabe Onna is great; sure it's one dimensional, but hey, it does what it does well. Also liking the leading lady, which has come across from Gokusen. Looking forward to watching the rest of Densha no otoko (didn't really give this one too much of a chance when I last watched it).

Dragon Zakura is pretty good... not as good as GTO, but hey, not much is. Opening theme song is way too saccharine for me, but the education focused theme is pretty alright. The other teachers are completely moronic and superfluous though.

Bengoshi no Kuzu; pretty fun. About the Lawyer named Scum, that acts like one but has a heart of gold. It's good times!

There are two shows currently airing that I actually find enjoyable. One is based of a comic of the same name, called "Life," and is about a girl who gets horribly bullied

Wow, another LIFE fan? :D

Pretty underrated show this season. It's like the Japanese Mean Girls, but Manami is actually eviler. It's gone a bit OTT recently, though.

OMG a jdrama thread. I truly love these shows. At the moment i am watching Hotaru no Hikari which is not bad but after watching over 100 jdramas you get the feeling that the old ones were much better. One of my favorite drama of all time is this here.

Geh, Sekachu. The drama is good if you like insanely sappy and manipulative. The concept is great but man, the main character is just so awfully stupid.

I recently finished watching Papa to Musume no Nanokan. I really liked it. Yea the whole body switching thing has been done before, but the actors were great and it was presented really well. The office girl was stupid/annoying tho. Yui Aragaki ftw!

thats exactly how why I love it. ^^

I hate shows where you curse at the main character.

Look, if I wanted to watch or interact with retards, I'd come to this forum and duke it out! I don't wanna swear at them from behind a screen.
