The dutch Telegraaf also reports that the other poker player was staying in the same hotel. He claims that he knew Joran van der Sloot only casually from playing poker at the same table although Joran's mobile telephone number was in his cell phone. He didn't put the number in his cell phone "consciously", whatever that means. The reason that he asked hotel management to open the room, was that he was worried they had been kidnapped.

He is not considered a suspect, but the can't leave the country.

(His claim about knowing him only casually is contradictory to the fact that he had an appointment with him for dinner, but maybe something got lost in translation?)

It could be a crime of opportunity. Maybe he recognised Van der Sloot and figured that if he killed the girl when Joran left the room for a short time, and take the money and jewels, the guy's reputation would be enough to get him convicted.

That's why there is DNA evidence. Joran is done.

One thing is sure, Joran won't be getting a fair trail in Peru.

Joran is a serial killer now? He didn't kill Holloway and what is this second murder you people speak of?

I kind of feel sorry for him, he surely won't get a fair trial and his life is pretty much ruined now. Oh well, guess it's mostly his own fault.

Meh. The only crimes he has until now been proven to be guilty of is being a pathological liar and being a complete and utter dick.

That doesn't really warrant being serially raped in prison (although I doubt that will ever happen, with his own and his mother's money to bribe guards.)

They alluded to the fact that they have more than circumstantial evidence.

Well technically you can't say he falls in line with that silly and pointless term.

I mean, YOU could be a serial killer for all we know but we don't for sure.

Except for I didn't admit to murder on camera, or have a mountain of evidence against me in the murder of another person.

"Technically..." perhaps not. But historically, serial killers after being caught, tend to be linked to other murders.

I highly doubt he's a serial killer, he's just used to getting his way and when the females rejected him because his false charm really hid a total lack of personality or anything redeeming at all, he couldn't take it and killed them like the complete pussy he always will be.
She went back into his hotel room at 5am after a night out. Don't think she rejected him at all, he just wanted to kill her just to kill her. I wonder how many victims this piece of trash Joran has.

I think you have that backwards. I'd say Holloway didn't get a fair prosecution in Aruba. And if she had, Ramizez would still be alive.

The thing that's going to prevent him from getting a "fair" trial in Peru is the amount of evidence. Short of videotaping the actual killing, it's impossible to leave more evidence than he did this time.

Yeah, why would someone with a daterape drug worry about being rejected???

Just because she goes back somewhere with him doesn't mean she can't have a change of heart and wisen up unless he already drugged her because he's that pathetic.

^^ is it confirmed that a daterape drug was used?

I personally don't know any concrete details about it all so I can't answer that but it was found in his posession making it a possibility.

Someone mentioned they had a shirt of his with her blood on it or vice versa and I hadn't even heard that as of yet.

All I know is that there is a lot of non-circumstantial evidence along with the other stuff.

I don't think they've released any statements officially regarding the evidence.

she hadn't had sex (willing or otherwise) shortly before the killing, so it wasn't sexually motivated. Could have possibly been robbery, she had poker winnings on her.

I read somewhere but don't recall where that she had 'defended herself' and there should be dna under the fingernails or some such.

There was also a tennisracquet in the room, but they didn't say it was certainly the murder weapon.

Once they establish the time of death, given that there is video footage from both the going in the room and him leaving, I assume it covers the time in between as well, I don't see how it's not watertight.

a man who pursues a life of pleasure without responsibility or attachments

I don't see why everyone thinks defining him as a playboy is funny... sounds pretty accurate.

Anyways, glad he got caught but the original American girl was dumb to take off with a stranger on her own. This situation sounds different than the one 5 years ago but I'm sure he is guilty either way.

He's finished, they do have a bunch of evidence on him.

He got really cocky after getting away with the Holloway murder, he tried to extort her parents for 250,000 or something.

They he took off to Peru, murdered some poor girl, took her poker winnings and used some of that money to buy a $600+ cab ride to the border :lol

I suppose it's technically possible he's innocent but unlikely :lol

How is it different???

And why is THIS new girl not dumb according to your logic???

Maybe it is the same, but I thought I read that she knew him. If she didn't than I guess it isn't any different.

He's supposedly confessed (shocked)

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37542848/ns/world_news-americas/

LIMA, Peru - A high-ranking Peruvian government official confirmed to NBC News that Joran van der Sloot confessed to the slaying of a 21-year-old Lima woman.

According to La Republica newspaper, he said that his anger exploded and he broke Stephany Flores' neck after she grabbed to use his laptop without his permission, and found out that he was involved in the murder of an American.

The paper quoted Van der Sloot as saying, "I did not want to do it. The girl intruded into my private life."

Wonder if people in here will reconsider some of their comments now that his side of the story is coming out.

guy is about to get owned.

she grabbed to use his laptop without his permission,

although some leniency is probably in order RITE FELLAS?!

he broke her neck after she looked at his laptop without asking. To think a girl could have been saved if only he had have used a password. Computer security is no joke kids.

Someone should mail the guy a tub of vaseline. he's gonna need it.

EDIT: wow another dutch poker player met him and had some discussions about women/marriage and so. Sounds like a real cock. Links in dutch but google translate probably would give the gist of the article. He sounds like a real piece of work with regards to his attitude to women.

I read somewhere that murder carries a 35yr max in Peru. Assuming he lives out his sentence, this idiot is very capable of killing again, he'll still be in his 50's.

also, Peruvian law means admitting the crime can often shorten the sentence to 8-20. He's also saying he became angry and trying to get manslaughter and not murder.

It looks like he took money etc, which would argue for premeditation.

you bolded the wrong part; its not the laptop, its the finding out about the first girl.

I hope they get that laptop to a competent forensic specialist. Hell give it to the Americans, that should placate them as they want him for the blackmail of Natalies mum.

would be so awesome if he did his time in Peru then had to wing it to US for some more time in the other murder.

I don't buy this douche's story at all, obviously he knew he couldn't get out of THIS one and is trying to get a reduced sentence.

The TV said confessions get you credit in the Peruvian Law system. Pathetic.

I hope they do a number on him no matter how long he stays in jail.

What a loser.

Yeah, they mentioned once he's done in Peru, they could extradite him to America for that stuff.

Except it seems like it was his Nataly murder clippings folder she was going through. So in this case he should have named it something like "Not Murder Related Docs".

That part about her using his laptop while he was away to do a search and she finds out about Natalie sounds so made up.

Kind of wonder if he signed some pre-written confession.
