His point is still off since the games he mentioned were designed to hit 1080p and aren't third party titles.
Sony could never update their SDK again and still be ahead for the rest of the generation with regard to performance. 176GB/s memory bandwidth (not theoretical, actual and constant) combined with a more powerful GPU guarantees that.
Time to bust out that list which includes Peggle 2.So if someone could demonstrate a reasonable number of third-party titles running at 1080p, would it have any effect on that point? Also, you'll notice I didn't edit his comment, so he did mean what he said, people were just misreading it.
Say goodbye to snapping stuff during games lol
Phil Spencer's tweets come off as empty PR to me most of the time. Some of the tweets are downright weird. Look at last night's stuff. He replies to random people asking him to follow them. Why? What's the point? For people who ask for backwards compat he gives an almost condescending pat on the head. "Nice Conker pic", he says to a guy with a blurry avatar of Birdy who didn't even mention anything about Conker. It's like he's trying too hard to please as much people as he can with the emptiest teases he can possibly think of. I don't know, I'm still not a believer.
Think it will. We'll see though.
Doubt it. Especially since many of the games already out will get sequels soon.
Might as well just save it for the sequels since the improvement will be greater.

It's true that both systems' tool will mature and improve, but the xbone was bogged down my many handicaps that are slowly being resolved, while the PS4 is seemingly already figured out, and without many cards up its sleeves. Therefore, the perception of maturity and improvement of the xbone will be far greater, IMO. They barely even exploited the cloud and ESRAM's flexible dual bandwidth, so I'm very optimistic.

With this and dx12 next year parity is looking like a real possibility.

Does it bother you? (serious question, since I have no idea what your point is with that post)

Forget parity I think XB1 will overtake PS4 with these improvements especially when you factor in the cloud.

If they really let programmers manage that memory and use parts of it for whatever, it's going to be really hard to take that feature away.is there anyway they can get rid of the esram on the next version of the X1?

What are you talking about?
Who said XBO will never see 1080p?
Nah there is no way QB will be native 1080p, have good AA and a solid framerate. If not even Crytek can do it, no one can in the foreseeable future. The experts here have already determined that the eSRAM limits things too much, so Forza only achieves it by having baked lighting, no AA and using forward rendering, while QB probably uses deferred rendering. It will be 900p at best, maybe 720p.
But it will still look great, which is all that matters at the end of the day. Hope people don't expect too much based of the E3 footage.
.Welcome to 800p
The Xbox One already overtook the Playstation 4 thanks to the cloud.Forget parity I think XB1 will overtake PS4 with these improvements especially when you factor in the cloud.
I think that sounds about right.Thats why mentioned cod ghosts.
I meant we wont be seeing 720p X1 games when the same PS4 games are 900/1080p
I think Cod ghosts and BF4 where the exceptions.
We will be seeing A minimum of Xone792p/PS4900p
and Xone900p/PS41080p
With this GPU boost+ better tools I wonder what watch dogs what of been if it had access to them.
I guess we will see this fall or possibly 2015 (if devs only have got access it to it in june) what difference it makes.

Direct X will just further the gap and keep the Xbox in the lead.

Awesome. Is that enough to get to 900p games to 1080p and 792p games to 900p?

Plus if they replace it, they have to replace it with something at least as fast under any realistic circumstance. Say, they switch to faster main memory. To replace ESRAM with this fully, it'd need higher bandwidth than both the current main memory and the ESRAM combined. Also, remember all the fun discussions we had about ESRAM latency.which is as irrelevant now as it was then if you ask me

That would be great.Bring on the performance patches for Titanfall, Ryse, DR3 and others.
And we are already seeing the fruit. Multiplats have had the largest performance gaps we've seen in over a decade, and the first party Sony games are starting to really flex hard.
Yes .. my point is it a good measure to compare the computational power of either consoles?Peggle 2 is a third-party title running in 1080p on Xbox One, isn't it?
With this and dx12 next year parity is looking like a real possibility.
The gap is getting close!
Historically performance gaps in consoles were not determinant to platform's success. I had PS1 and N64, where gap was infinite in favor of Nintendo, and best games (and more successful platform) was PS1. Same thing with PS2 / Xbox, and 360/ps3/wii.
Does it bother you? (serious question, since I have no idea what your point is with that post)
You sound kind of salty.

Is there some way GAF can set a temporary ban on this phrase for E3 week? Poe's Law is in effect for this statement arguably more than any other hardware-related thing lately. Even checking post histories doesn't automatically show proper intent. It legitimately wrecks the enjoyment of some threads.Forget parity I think XB1 will overtake PS4 with these improvements especially when you factor in the cloud.
If the problem lies in the esram, what visual fidelity has to do with it?
Welcome to 800p
Is that with or without the Cloud's added power?![]()
