I swear america, you'll buy into anything as long as it has the name of something else on it. Looks like a horror movie. "SHE ESCAPED." Looks bad.
Nice generalization there!

You know, maybe some might be excited because they think it looks good and because it's true to the books and first movie?

Nah, no way

If it's an American phenomenon then how do you explain the fact that international box office is often bigger than domestic box office? If it was just Americans going "buying into" these movies then you'd think they wouldn't be successful anywhere else in the world.

Well, you know, there are more people in the RotW than in the US alone, so that could be a reason why international box-office numbers are much higher.

I actually find comments like these insulting to some degree, like my intelligence is called into question or something. Can I not genuinely think it looks great?

Yeah, I agree with Shinobi. I actually liked the trailer and am interested in see the movie.

Also, is tamed raptors really that unbelievable to some people? Are people unaware that you can breed animals to have certain traits? Killer Bees - which were supposed to be just bees that created more more honey (which they do except for the whole deadly swarms)? Mule (strength of a horse + loyalty (I think this is what they wanted) of a Donkey? I believe it's someone in Russia that has been breeding Gray Foxes to be domesticated. They simply take the calmest, and most gentle of the foxes and breed them together in the hopes that the offspring inherit the calm traits.

Normally it does take some time before the breeding becomes successful (the bad traits are bred out and the good ones remain). However, we are talking about a movie where they have the technology to recreate dinos from DNA taken from mosquitos and to create a mutant dino. It doesn't seem that farfetched (to me anyway) that they have the technology to get "tamed" raptors. Seriously, I can understand most opinions (like the CGI effects or Chris Pratt's acting), but to me "tamed" Raptors shouldn't really be that odd.

I was on board (for the most part) until the damn raptor motorcycle scene at the end. That's some cringe worthy shit right there...

On the fence as to whether this will be worth seeing in theaters. So far the outlook isn't good (dat dialogue/writing), and I really wanted this to be good.

Oh man, this looks so awful. I was cautiously optimistic before, but I really don't have much hope for this movie anymore.

*presses repeat button on trailer*

and the star wars trailer will get nothing but praise..since that movie will be filled with even more CGI and green screens, blue screens and fuck all other screens.

l

Yeah, I'm thinking this too. Everyone hating on the trailer will still be there on the first weekend - kind of like those people who made Steam groups to "boycott" games only to end up buying them on release.

I'm very critical of this trailer and the shiny near-future "we should've listened" tone it seems to propose. That said, you're right - I will see it in the theater. I mean, shit, it IS Jurassic Park. I also saw every Star Wars prequel, Crystal Skull, and Matrix sequel in the theater.

I know I'm part of the problem.

That totally fake trailer? nah.

I also thought JJ would rely much more on practical effects and shots than Lucas did with the prequels.

He's saying it's an American phenomenon.

I actually considered writing in my post that I wasn't commenting that post, just that the box-office numbers being higher internationally doesn't mean it's more popular, just that there's a much bigger "pool" of potential customers.

strafer you seem like a smart person so I have to ask, in what reality do you live in in which you believe that people are going to respond positively to something related to Star Wars?

It will be like this. A lot of negativity but you have people like you and I who... like stuff. So there will be some good reactions, and if some miracle happens maybe even the haters might be open to it. That being said, the teaser for VII won't show as much as this one did, it will by and large be an actual teaser unlike this trailer, so there won't be as much room for unfinished CGI shots and whatnot.

I haven't been reading other sites, has the reaction been so overwhelmingly negative everywhere else?

The like/dislike bar in Youtube still looks positive, and Youtube hates everything.

So is it confirmed that the raptors are tame? Or is GAF just making it up? It looked like they were collectively running away from something to me :-/

The Raptors were the enemies for 3 movies.....but now... the game has changed!
Foes unite!

Two movies. In Jurassic Park 3 the humans invaded their space and stole their eggs. The raptors were even nice enough to spare them after the eggs were returned to them. They were cute as buttons.

One of the writers just said on Twitter that there are no domesticated raptors, so something else is definitely going on. I think the raptors are focused on something and don't give a shit about the Dwyercycle.

"Domesticated", "trained", and "non-hostile" are all different things. The director did say that Pratt's character was a behavioral scientist for raptors or something, so he's probably Jane Goodalling them into being his friends.

Agreed. I'm pretty certain they aren't tame.
That would just be stupid, like a girl kicking a raptor or talking dinosaurs.

Hi, hater here. I learned my lesson with Prometheus in the theater, not likely to repeat that mistake with this heap of bronto dung.

OMG that last scene... I can't... I just can't... so hyped!!

What if the Raptors find the new hybrid dinosaurs a threat and henceforth Dwyercycle and others allied the raptors and fight the hybrids? Makes some sense considering a scene where you see that the raptors cages are open and they run. Raptors vs hybrids fighting to death would be epic.

Man, 30 seconds into the trailer and the shit quality CG really sticks out, its too much and really bad quality for a movie of this pedigree.

Plot sounds cool though, hopefully it redeems the shit visuals.

Hell, in TLW, if they woulda stayed out of the tall grass, they would have been fine! They just stepped into the wrong hood.

I don't know. Spoilers from other trailers leaks/rumored early versions of the trailer:

That leaked trailer concept shows him stopping a raptor from attacking someone
Early descriptions (never confirmed to be true) had Pratt saying something like "if we do this, we do it my way" and then the shot of him riding alongside raptors.

I think it will be a mix. Pratt isn't gonna be hanging out in a treehouse with raptors sleeping by his bed, but
it seems like he has some kind of understanding of their behavior and can co-exist with them.

Hi, hater here. I learned my lesson with Prometheus in the theater, not likely to repeat that mistake with this heap of bronto dung.

Prometheus looked amazing based on the trailers. You went to see it because of that and apparently didn't like it despite the trailers. Isn't there a chance then that this movie will be better, to you, than the impression that the trailer left on you? If trailers can be deceiving, and they sometimes are, wouldn't that mean that this could still go either way for you? Not really understanding the logic.

I don't care what you choose to do, I'm just saying that isn't it a bit early to judge? What if the next trailers are awesome and the movie gets amazing reviews? You still going to ignore it because of a teaser trailer with unfinished CGI and little context?
