Believe it or not, it's a holdover from the novel of The Lost World. JP engineers filled in a carnotaur's DNA with some strands of chameleon, which gave it a very powerful camoflauge effect.

Hey nooo!!!" but corporate executives forcing them to do it to improve profits, hype in order to meet ridiculous profit/sales expectations in face of the history of Jurassic Park in that world. Like in the real world. That's the only this works as a story concept and likely will be accepted.
