Just Cause 2 Multiplayer - [Beta Test: Sat 8th-9th September]

So played it a bit tonight... it's fun... but loses it's charm quickly without much to do. Can't kill people outside of vehicles, and you don't have any weapons other than machine gun and grenades.

Once they add the ability to do that t hen the game will be a blast.

You can kill them with explosions at least. I've been killed plenty of times by helicopters.

This mod would be amazing with PvP, pedestrians and the in-game weapons/vehicles store. Hopefully the future versions include those.

About last night, kb was broke and still is. Using Vita to type this. Mod has major potential. The chat log is like streaming youtube comments, terrible. I haven't updated to the late night patch but as of patch 2, game has been very stable. Can't wait to try more tonight. Love that this breathing new life into this game. PC gaming, enough said.

For those having issues, try this in order

Verify steam cache of JC2
Launch vanilla game and load your last save until ingame then exit
Make sure JC2-MP is in documents or C drive root folder
launch the mp exe with all needd info

Not sure what to tell you if you have a pirated version but if you do shame on you. It's cheap enough as it is. Support the devs! At least you don't get free cache verification ala Steam because that solves lots of problems.

Any way to play it earlier? I got yelled at for not sleeping at night.

Oh my god this is amazing. I still jump into JC2 every couple of weeks. I'll be Cindres on there too.

This sounds incredible. I'm likely picking up JC2 just for this.

I wouldn't make it the sole reason. It's pretty barebones at the moment. No PvP, no NPC's or cars on the streets whatsoever - it's basically just a big sandbox world to mess about in with others.

That said, JC2 is so cheap now and is a ton of fun - strongly recommend! I owned it on 360 at launch but bought a Steam code for £3 last week on PC.

Wow, it's like a mini-MMO. Really interested to see this develop. I'm hoping the game's modding limitations don't hurt it too much as it already feels abit hacked together.

Man, I just turned down buying Just Cause 2 for cheap because I own it on PS3 and Xbox, and couldn't possibly see a good reason to pay for it on PC. /sigh

PvP sort of exists, at least you can blow up each others' vehicles and such anyway.

But yeah needs player to player gun combat.

I've never played it (outside of the demo), so I'm definitely picking it up now considering how cheap it is.

I just got stalked by a helicopter for ages, it started off by shooting at me then whenever I'd stop it'd slow down and land next to me.
The last time it did it, the guy got out his heli. I panicked thinking he was gonna hijack me, shot off a rocket or two from my car and drove off.
He hunted me down and killed me :(

The guy was probably talking to me in the chat but it's such a clusterfuck that I couldn't see anything.

Before I forget to mention it, last night was a blast on mumble. Looking forward to more shananagans tonight.

I also made a grand exit last night before I left. I circled the airport until I found some people ready to take off on 2 huge airliners. I then proceeded to kamikaze and crash into the first which then blew up the 2nd carrier. It was epic.

I can't wait to try this again. It needs some objectives tbough. It's such a huge world so it hardly gets old if you explore the map.

We need our own server too. The chat is like digital diarrhea.

My favorite thing to do is hang around the airports and throw grenades at people trying to take off in the jets, or better yet, hijack them and crash/ram the plane into something so it blows up or gets stuck; added bonus if I can bail out before it blows up (90% of the time you can, no problem).

Also, I like to grab the largest car I can find and ram into the jets as they're building up speed for take off. Basically, this mod has brought out my inner troll.

random intel pops up for me saying i gotta locate black boxes scattered around the place

not sure if this is the shitty story or this mod is starting to give out simple objectives

Superman mod, how does it work?

It doesn't in the MP. I think it's just people flying around with the parachute but it looks weird.

Also I'm smiling in this game way more than any other game. It's amazing some of the stuff you see. Me and three other people were on top of an airplane headed to MHC. :P

Every time I quit the game and come back to this thread I find myself booting the game up again. Just Cause 2 really should've had multiplayer from the start.

Also, where the hell is the airport? I've found it twice before but could never find it again.

To be fair when Just Cause 2 was made the Avalanche engine didn't support multiplayer, which is one of the reasons Renegade Ops was made (To implement online multiplayer into their engine).
So hopefully we will see multiplayer launch offically with Just Cause 3.

Hell even without MP, JC3 is going to be so amazing.

I remember JC1. It was one of the buggiest games I have ever played. JC2 shocked me with how brilliant it was. I can't wait for JC3.

I think I still have JC2 installed, I should probably give this a try tonight.

New Mumble users: Make sure you set up Push To Talk. Just run the Audio Wizard again and set the button when it asks for it (Voice Activity Detection page).

How many people are in the server right now?

People are saying 600ish

I'm on and on Mumble. just driving around. Just had a 27k roadtrip. Well, it was longer, but the marker started at 27k. Took me about an hour to drive that using roads.

Lol, you know there is a map in the game right? You can even set waypoints.

Just played a bit. This is pretty awesome. Wish there were NPCs though.

That's probably the only thing missing, really. Oh and actual objectives! I'm sure they'll work on that stuff... just seems super barebones otherwise.

Imagine doing story missions together haha.
