A lesbian teenager accused of having sex with her underage girlfriend was taken back into custody in Florida after the prosecutor withdrew a negotiated plea deal.

Kaitlyn Hunt, who is now 19, was booked into the Indian River County Jail on Aug. 19. She was still in jail early Aug. 20 but expected to post bail.

Hunt is charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a child.

The regional state attorney's office withdrew a plea offer on Aug. 19 alleging that Hunt violated pretrial conditions by contacting the girl.

The Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers reported that the bond company that posted her initial bail brought Hunt to the jail.

Hunt, according to authorities, engaged in sexual relations with her 14-year-old girlfriend last year. Florida law says that an individual under 16 years old cannot legally consent to having sex. So, such a relationship is a felony.

Hunt’s family – and a growing legion of Internet supporters – says that the teenager was arrested because the girlfriend’s family objected to a same-sex relationship.

Hunt’s supporters also maintain that she likely would not be facing criminal prosecution if she were a boy.

ero Beach, Florida (CNN) -- Enough with the texting, a Florida judge told Kaitlyn Hunt after hearing testimony about thousands of text messages -- some of them explicit -- the Florida teenager reportedly sent to her underage girlfriend after being ordered not to while awaiting trial on charges of having sex with the girl.

Judge Robert Pegg sent Hunt, 19, to jail Tuesday, ordering her held on bond pending trial. She'll also be limited to communicating with her lawyers, guards, fellow inmates and perhaps a few choice visitors.

Hunt was 18 when she was charged with two felony counts of lewd and lascivious battery after allegedly having sexual relations with the girl, who was 14.

Pegg made his ruling after an Indian River Sheriff's Office detective testified about the contents of an iPod that Hunt had given the younger girl -- including more than 20,000 text messages, "explicit" videos and nude pictures -- despite a court order that the two not communicate, electronically or otherwise.

"It's overwhelming that Ms. Hunt has chosen to violate the conditions of her bond deliberately and willfully on several occasions," Pegg said in explaining his decision.

In addition to the extensive exchange of messages since March -- which began days after the no-contact order was issued -- Detective Jeremy Shepherd further testified that he'd learned the two had secretively met as recently as a few weeks ago.

Under cross-examination, Shepherd noted that in some cases, the younger girl initiated contact, though he emphasized that Hunt had given her the iPod on which they illicitly communicated. And the detective added, the younger teenager "has not told me the full truth in a couple of my interviews."

After Shepherd left the stand, Hunt's lawyer, Julia Graves, did not dispute that there "has been some contact with the victim" and her client.

"We're not going to contest all the evidence," Graves said Tuesday in court. "But what we would ask for is that the defendant (be able to be) bonded out, to be placed on house arrest without any electronic communication of any kind. ... We think that would keep the judicial process safe."

The judge, though, thought differently.

"She simply can't be trusted to abide by the court order," Pegg said of Hunt.

Yeah, I kinda feel sorry for her and this whole mess, but 14 is off limits.

I would feel more sorry for her if she didn't violate the terms of her plea deal. She was set to walk, but continued what got her in trouble in the first place. Also yeah 18 and 14 is creepy.

What's the reasoning behind this?

She doesn't have brothers/isn't a guy.

This is one of the top 3 things that young single men have to worry about when meeting new women in social gatherings. I've had many an experience where I would chat up a girl, we'd hit it off, we'd make further plan for the night only to find out (in time mind you) that she was under 17. This isn't an issue of persecution because she's gay; in the eyes of the law, this is (Statutory) rape.

What's the Chris Rock line? "If a woman say she's 21, and looks 16, she's 12. If a woman say she's 26, and looks 26, she's damn near 40."

Regardless of the people, and situations... what a dummy.

She had a possible deal, and ALL she needed to do was not continue to contact the victim. But she did... what a dummy.

If this was about a 19 year old guy and his 14 year old girlfriend the media wouldn't even care. It would just be straight to jail. Laws the law no exceptions.

Yeah I really can't get behind the 19-year-old on this. Use some common sense when it comes to relationships between older teens and younger teens. If you get caught, you have no one to blame but yourself. If you disobey a judge while you're awaiting trial, you're a fucking idiot.

Some additional circumstances from the last thread.

A Florida high school student was expelled and arrested after she continued to carry on a same-sex relationship with a minor student after she turned 18.

Kaitlyn Hunt was arrested in February at the behest of her 15-year-old girlfriend’s parents and charged with two felony counts of lewd and lascivious battery of a child 12 to 16 years old.

A judge ruled that Hunt could still go to her Sebastian, Fla., school if she did not have contact with the 15-year-old. Unhappy with that decision, the girlfriend’s parents also made an appeal to the school board, and Hunt was then expelled from Sebastian River High School just weeks before her graduation.

Her mother, Kelley Hunt Smith, claims State Attorney Brian Workman offered her daughter a plea deal that she has until Friday to accept or face trial. The plea deal includes “two years house arrest and one year probation.”

Her father, Steven R. Hunt, said the school disapproved of the relationship from the beginning. Hunt reportedly had good grades and participated in cheerleading, chorus and basketball. She was voted “most school spirited.” But when she began dating another girl from the basketball team, her coach dropped her citing that the relationship would cause “drama.”

I'd have seen issue if my 14 year old daughter was getting sexed up by a 19 year old. Regardless if it was a guy or gal.

Deal has been reached.
Under the new plea deal, Hunt will plead no contest to five charges, including two counts of misdemeanor battery, misdemeanor contributing to the dependency of a child and two counts of felony interference with child custody, according to a copy of the plea deal provided to CNN by Workman, who is an assistant state attorney .
Hunt would be sentenced to four months in jail, to be followed by two years of house arrest with electronic monitoring, and nine months of monitored probation after that, he said earlier.

If she has no violations, she will not be a convicted felon under Florida law, and she will have the possibility of sealing her file and having the case expunged after 10 years, he said.
