Kay Plays |OT|

I basically binged episodes 1 through 5, and then watched 6 and 7 as they came out.

Great series, and sort of cool game.
I liked the storytelling through environments, definitely something unique to videogames.

The story was alright, writing and acting skewered too much on the cheesy side for my taste, even with the subject of these being a teenager, they were laying it on thick with the guitar music and all.

I don't think i would've played this myself, but it was fun to watch Kay play it and piece everything together.

I haven't played Home Alone but had the story spoiled many times over unfortunately. Anyway, it was creepy in the beginning but it's a damn great example of interactive storytelling imo. I really enjoyed it.

Can't wait to see which game Kay tackles next. I will beat the Resident Evil remaster drum! Sure it doesn't have much of a plot...But it does ask for a lot of thoughts as far as puzzles go...Is Silent Hill 2 on PC haha? Yes it is!

It's a shame that Kay won't play Bloodborne any time soon, but by the time she gets to it, the expansion should be out. Don't spoil anything Kay! Can't wait to see you piece the lore together, and get wrecked hard by tons of creepy ass mofos up in Yharnam.

Silent Hill has been brought up many times before (it's my favorite game, so of course i would) but she already said multiple times, that she doesn't enjoy scary games, so that's a no go, same for Reasident Evil and such.

Yeah, while I'd kill to see Kay solving Silent Hill 2 and 3's puzzles on extreme puzzle difficulty, those games will never happen :(.

Kay needs to play "Her Story".

There see can do some great detective work, since it is about putting together a story. Even so, she properly have to show her notes, since their isn't much Gameplay besides watching videos.

Kay was a genius in the Souls games, but somehow manages to be a blabbering idiot in Shadow of the Colossus. I mean, she never seemed so content to stick to her wrong assumptions for so long in previous titles.

How could you be so awful at my favorite game, Kay? It actually hurts. :(

Hopefully she has a much easier time after colossus 11.

Just watched the Two Best Friend Play Bloodborne LP and nowfeel like watching a good DeS/DS/DS2 LP. I subscribed to Kay when I heard about her on GAF, are her videos really that good? Which LP should I start with?

Dark Souls 1 but it is a bit rough at the beginning as she learns the controls but it is really fantastic to see her quickly become great at the game and the play through has so many fantastic moments.

DS, her transformation from "how do I turn the camera" to parrying master is no less than astonishing.

So DS -> DS2 -> DeS, I'm assuming? Either way, I guess I'll be occupied these next few months watching her LPs. :D

Sorry about that! The reason the SotC LP is different is that I recorded the entire playthrough nonstop (but for a short night of sleep) over a two day weekend when I had the apartment to myself. No downtime between sessions -- especially to watch back the footage during editing, which always helps me see things I missed while playing -- leads to poor sleuthing and tunnel vision.

My own unhappiness with the SotC LP is why I haven't touched Bloodborne or any other console game; I'd only play it when I had the TV and console to myself for a long time, I'd try to cram long play sessions in when I did, and long play sessions lead to worse content.

The next game I'll be playing on the channel is probably the Tomb Raider reboot. In classic Doofus!Kay fashion I already screwed up the first episode by recording it in the wrong resolution, so I've got to start it over. But that should be going up soon. No spoilers please! :)

Welcome to those new to the channel, and thanks to everyone who stuck with it during the last, what, month? of no content. Blame Destiny. Seriously. Okay, okay, I'll take some of the blame too.

Awesome work with your channel Kay! Nice to see you are self critical and can identify causes for your own disappointments. Good luck with your next play through.

There's a part in the last video where you go, "I don't know what any of the buttons do," and I was just like that explains everything. :P

I do think the way you've improved your gameplay in previous series had a lot to do with analyzing your footage as you were playing through, so I can see how not doing that this time around sort of affected things.

I still absolutely adore the rest of your content and you're a much better Souls player than I will ever be.

I'd love to watch that Tomb Raider playthrough. There's not much to put together, but I thought it was an entertaining game.

That's cool, the Tomb Raider reboot was one of my favoirte games that year. The superior Uncharted imho even if the characters and story aren't as good/charming I'd take Tomb Raider's gameplay any day of the week. Who needs guns when you have a bow?

Oh and when in doubt I always blame Destiny.

Eh, not sure I'm in for Tomb Raider. Don't find that game all that entertaining to watch, though it might be funny to see Kay's reaction to the death scenes.

Such a shame Kay is going to play Tomb Raider. Won't be interesting to watch as the game itself is pretty average. Much worse than Uncharted. But maybe she can make it interesting, I dunno.

Kay needs to play "Her Story".

Does "Her story" have subtitle support?

Tomb Raider can be a fun romp (at times), but there's no sleuthing, puzzle-solving or deductive reasoning required whatsoever. Observation and caution aren't really rewarded. Doesn't seem like a super great fit for the kind of content that the fans have come to love from Kay, but hey, if she wants to play it, she wants to play it. :)

Now she's got Dark Souls III to do and Bloodborne )= but, with Destinys new expac coming soon the chances are zero we'll see either ;0;

In for Tomb Raider. Loved the game. It's essentially Uncharted X RE4 which is perfect for me. It won't make you think a lot Kay, but it's action-packed and very atmospheric. Not gonna lie though, the wait for Bloodborne is pretty painful. Damn you Destiny! DAMN YOU!

Kay, has anyone every suggest 'The Vanishing of Ethan Carter' to you?

I completed it last week and it's a great little puzzle game (about 5 hours total) that's fairly heavy on story, more in the vein of Gone Home than Dark Souls. There is a mile spooky element to it (which I know you're not fond of) about half way through, but it's fairly obvious what will happen so isn't too much cause for concern.

I'd love to see you tackle it at some point, I think it would be right up your alley.

I'll watch for Kay but I'm not sure this game is a great fit for what her strengths in her videos usually are. I mean there's a lot of lore / background info stuff to find in the game, but I just remember not being a big fan of this game myself.

"They don't let me walk off the edge. This is already easier than Dark Souls." :lol

Maybe she just wants to shoot some dudes and stuff. Well, I mean, she did disappear for a month to play Destiny.

I thought her boyfriend became a NEET and decided to play Destiny every waking hour for a month.
Haha, I don't know that he's a NEET but she basically said she doesn't want to be pressed for time when doing this stuff, so she'd rather play Bloodborne when the PS4 is fully available to her for longer periods of time.

Tomb Raider is a bit cutscene heavy but the gameplay should be a good watch.

EDIT: would sooooo much have preferred the 1996 Tomb Raider though - there's a lot more for Kay to sink her teeth into in that game, with very complex levels and tricky puzzles.

Yeah, the game itself is definitely not to the strengths she has put on display so far in terms of being thorough and being able to puzzle out connections buried in the games corners. That said there is nothing wrong with having varied tastes and trying new things. While it's not the game I would of picked I'll give it a chance and see how it goes. No reason to believe Kay can only be good at one thing, I'm happy to give her a chance explore her interests. If I lose interest in this playthrough the game is short and I will await the next one. No reason 100% of her content has to be for me.

edit: I forgot how torture-porny that game was, moderately so in the mandatory cutscenes, extremely so in the (optional) death scenes.

took a replay to get me to notice that lara manages to get captured 3 friggin' times! :) ...

not sure why kay chose to go with this game. unless her brain just needs a little break :) ...

For a second I thought she'd be playing Tomb Raider I

:(

yeah, considering this's the person who opted to play the original zelda, i'd assumed the same...

I kinda like the Tomb Raider choice. Good seeing Kay turn her sleuthing skills to a different kinda game. She is still being very attentive and careful when playing, which gives this a good feel - and means it is different than most other TR playthroughs.

I am not sure Kay can stick it out to 100% it all though - even though it initially seems she's trying too.
