Kay Plays |OT|

Unrelated but I just watched the first few episodes of her Dark Souls 1 playthrough again and her voice is so different. I think someone said a while back that she mentioned adjusting/editing it for later videos?
Probably just changing recording setups and equipment over time along with just time and being used to doing LP videos probably more than anything else.

At this rate we won't be able to finish VC till summer, although I suppose this gives DS3 ample to be patched and have DLC released.

The interview traveled that Kay and P got married sometime last year. Congrats you guys!

(I imagine it happened some during when there was a fairly lengthy break)

Now everyone has to complain about her husband hogging the PS4 :p

Maybe it gave me confidence that I could play more technically challenging games. Before, I’d tend to stick to story-driven games and, bar a few exceptions, avoid heavily strategic, skill-based games.
I revel in how much that flies in the face of the commentary that frequently surrounds Dark Souls and gaming in general. One of the biggest reasons I enjoyed LP.
Get gud achieved!

Great read, Kay's DS1 playthrough I think got me in to watching LPs, I never really watched a whole series through before that one. And congrats to Kay and P :)

This was the first I'd heard of the the book also, so will be keeping an eye out for that.

Read that article today too. It's great. I watched all of her Demon's Souls playthrough but haven't seen her others yet, and had no idea she was thrown into Dark Souls that way... seeing her use the telescope to look through fog doors and go full detective on everything blew my mind, because I had no idea you could do that and really muscled through a lot of stuff in a poor way many times. Kay is cool af. I should watch the rest over the weekend to pass the time until 3.

I also like the article's position of Souls not needing to be the "git gud or gtfo" masocore club that it's become to many people.

Kay has posted a few comments on her most recent video (still the few weeks old Valkyria Chronicles one) saying that she will be back to playing/recording this week. She also commented that she will do a Dark Souls III run, but is unsure what form that will take alongside completing Valkyria Chronicles.

I dont think you can direct link to comments on YouTube, but you can see the main comment here.

The way you worded that scared the hell out of me, thinking she wouldn't post live commentary/blind vids, but reading the actual comment it doesn't sound like she's changing her format; just unsure how to juggle the two LPs.

Oops, sorry for any confusion. I should have put the word "schedule" in there and it might have made more sense. Anyway, hopefully she has the time to play either game sometime down the line.

I noticed Jeff Green was full of praise for Kay in his recent streams. A few of his comments made me think she started to play DS3 already, but I figured out later he was talking about the DSI and II playthroughs. I guess we are both getting our wires crossed.

Kotaku has published an article about Kay playing Dark Souls containing quotes from Kay. It is an excerpt from You Died: The Dark Souls Companion, a book about Dark Souls and the delightfully mad people who play it by Keza MacDonald and Jason Killingsworth.

Heh, that's neat. Did not expect to see her name pop up on Kotaku. That's first LP was great though. I remember some people here thought she was faking the whole confused beginner thing.

Sorry to bump this, but there are still unanswered questions here:

1. Kay WTF are have you gone? we need you. Also, you cannot willy-nilly get karl killed and step away :D

2. I heard you're doing campaign work for the presidential election in the US. I'm not a US citizen (I'm european), but I'm following the primaries here and there. I guess you wouldn't disclose if you're rooting for Bernie or whatever, but I'm most definitely curious about your insight about the whole presidential race and the american political system in general.

She is a Bernie supporter.

Kay did her duty and now she's back. I have a higher opinion of her than ever before now. Wished she had played a certain game however :/

Hell yeah. I'm looking forward to seeing if she picks up on some of the stuff that ENB has missed so far. It'll be quite interesting to compare their play throughs.

YASS! Best Souls youtuber is back. Hers are the only full length lets plays I can watch without getting bored or annoyed with the player.

Let's see how many of the NPC quests she messes up. If not even Kay can do them, then you know they're overly complicated

So stoked to see her back at it. She's by far one of my favorite let's players for Souls andbi discovered her thanks to GAF. I've been looking forward to this almost as much as the the game.

I really want to enjoy these videos more but her audio set up and the grainy/fuzziness of it honestly gives me headaches. It's not just her mic either because the game audio is like that too :(
