Wow.. an apology, staff breakdown and loads of excuses already

At least they are promising to have something to show this summer.

I for one am tired of the lack of professionalism in display but I guess its to be expected from amateurs trying to head large projects

Uh...I don't see how any of what they mentioned indicates a lack of professionalism
In February we found out that I would be deploying for six months, which came as a bit of a surprise to all of us, as I’ve spent almost all of the last five years outside of the United States. I immediately began training replacements, hoping to focus on my intended job of Assistant Producer upon my return. As it turned out, our web designer was offered a major position at Google, our Community Manager was forced to withdraw from the project due to health concerns, and I was shipped off to the Pacific.

Health concerns and military service are all totally valid reasons for development to be slowed. In fact, I think those take precedence of making a game IMO. The guy taking a major Google job is a bit iffy. But the others? Totally understandable.

The guy taking a major Google job is a bit iffy, especially if you promised to be part of a dedicated team. But the others? Totally understandable.

Im not saying it isn't understandable

I am saying its unnecessary information. Don't make personal issues, staff issues, or any other excuses the burden of the backer.

Its like telling your life story to your boss about why you were late to work.

In their defense it seems he was over selling the issues and is clearly devoting the majority of the budget to the game's development and having the delay for content ONLY be two months late isn't really that huge

Should have just went with that information

Unnecessary? I really don't see how anyone could say that. Maybe I'm just naive. Just like an expectant mother takes time off from work, I don't see what they said as excuses. Health concerns? I don't know serious those issues are, buy what, should someone risk their life to continue development? (I'm assuming you're a backer). Military service? Seems like it was out of the blue and totally unexpected for him.

I think your comment is kind of insensitive to what they're dealing with. It's just a game. Yeah, I'd be upset too if a game I was anticipating was delayed or put on hold, but yes, personal life issues should come first before developing a game.

Yes personal Life issues do come first

I am saying that its really not relevant to us as backers/customers. Do you get involved with every single person that sells you something on a personal level?

Hmm, I would think if I a backer, I'd find this extremely relevant. At least for me, when I back something, it's more than just someone selling me something. I'm invested and involved in the project, more than in a sense of a pledge, but invested in its progress, in how its developers are doing, etc. That's what I love about indie gaming, the closeness and transparency with the development of a game.

And especially with indie dev teams, issues like this become absolutely relevant. Again, IMO

I am saying its unnecessary information.

You are mistaken about this. Backers are dramatically more willing to cut projects slack on delays when the source of those delays is laid out. The lion's share of people pledging to any Kickstarter understand that the people they're supporting usually have external life responsibilities; describing how those tie into delivery on KS promises is an important part in keeping people on board.

I mean, maybe you don't care personally, and that's reasonable, but you are incorrect if you think this is unnecessary information from the perspective of the project trying to keep their backer base as happy as possible.

If a game is delayed, I as a backer want to know why. This provides exactly that, and makes it really hard to find fault with anyone.

I like the looks of this one.

I'm really surprised sumoboy hasn't reached its 100k goal. For some reasons, it seems like KS died down this year, comparatively.

I've backed a few games, are any of them coming out any time soon? (full versions)

- A Hat in Time
- Dead State
- Wasteland 2
- Pro Wrestling X

I wouldn't say slowing down. Check out the Finished post
So far, just some of the notable successful campaigns included:

- Rain World
- La-Mulana 2
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance
- Darkest Dungeon
- Dragon Fin Soup
- Last Life
- Heart Forth, Alicia
- Hover: Revolt of Gamers
- Amplitude
- The Universim
- OMORI
- SuperHOT
- Witchmarsh

And that's not counting the campaigns in January and February that I didn't list or the campaigns to come this year.

Wasteland 2 is end of August I think. Dead State is probably a while away and no idea about the other two.

Anima apparently popped back into it for some choice enhancements/give folks another chance to get in on things that missed the first campaign. Seems to be....62 hours...left and they just hit their first stretch goal for full V/A

Still reckon this has gotta hold some sort of record for most unexpected, but nifty seeming, sort of adaptation for a Tabletop P&P brand...
