The acting is fine. It's just the material isn't all that interesting. I thought it was going to be an amazing show, but I often find myself checking to see how much time is left when I'm watching it. Slow paced and boring imo, although it has gotten a little bit better. I think it tries to take itself too seriously.

I don't get this. I am both suprised and disappointed when an episode ends. They seem to end too fast. I love this show.

Oh my god, its such a tragedy.

Mel Brooks was wrong — it's not good to be the king.

NBC has once again shuttled around Kings, its ambitious if poorly received new drama series, yanking it from its Saturdays-at-8 slot after just one airing. Kings originally called Sunday home, but was banished after four low-rated outings.

Kings now will conclude its freshman run (seven episodes remain to be seen) over the summer, airing Saturdays at 8 pm/ET, from June 13 through July 25.

Taking Silas' place for the interim on Saturday night will be repeats of Law & Order: SVU, Southland and Law & Order.

Damn.

NBC is not the ones to blame, here.
Yes they are. As soon as Angela Bromstad became chief programmer at NBC she slammed the brakes on Kings, moved its timeslot and set it up for failure in order to make room for her labor of love; Southland.

Before she was put in her new position by Jeff Zucker, all the top brass were FULLY behind the show.

Here's what killed Kings.

-A vague advertising campaign. All over the place was just the flag of Gilboa with nothing else.

-The move from Thursday night. This is what turned the knife.

Fucking bullshit! I bought every episode on PSN trying to help shit and this is the thanks I get?

>:(

Definitely this too.. NBC's marketing & promo dept has been abysmal for years now.

ARGH!!! I wondered what was going on tonight. 2 more months till the final episodes start airing? This is like pushing daisies all over again. This is why I try not to get involved with any tv show until it's already popular enough to sustain itself. Everything I like dies.

Also, Thursday night would have been great for this show (for me) as long as they didn't run it up against Hell's Kitchen.

Really? What was the budget for BSG? Then again, Kings doesn't have the audience of BSG.
Kings does have the audience of BSG. The problem is that's low for a network show.

So I just watched the ep from a couple weeks ago and then loaded up what I thought was last night's episode on my DVR and had an episode of L&O. I come into this thread and find out the rest are in June?

oh my fucking god I HATE YOU NBC

Seriously! Four episodes on Sunday, then no episodes for nearly 2 weeks, which then airs on a Saturday, then no new episodes for 2 months! So infuriating.

I guess re-runs of L&O will bring in people for May sweeps which is why they are doing this; but it pretty much craps all over Kings to not air any episodes at all. :/

I may just delete the episodes on my DVR and wait for a DVD set. Except, that might backfire, a la Journeyman. And I don't really like to reward the "it's okay to cancel the series, we'll make it up on the back end with DVD sales" mentality. But, I'm not so convinced they will actually show those episodes in summer. Sigh. Broadcast tv really is a bad business model nowadays.

Just watched the first show. I've had it DVR'ed for a while now.

This show is amazing.
It's refreshing to see a show actually take time to develop characters. Instead of the typical 5 second then flash to another scene then flash to another scene.

I was really impressed.
Disappointing to hear that it's getting canned.

the bluray release of season 1 was planned for November 14th, but it's been pushed back to early 2010 and switched to HD-DVD

im not sure if you are kidding....because it IS NBC here :lol

but YES @ new episodes this week. fucking NBC. fucking NBC.

I saw an advertisement for "Merlin" that will be airing sundays. it didnt look that great, but i have some hope. however its on sundays, so it will probably die like Kings.

Merlin is a BBC series, NBC just bought the broadcast rights in the US.

This is true, if I had known what this show was about when it was one I would've watched it. I thought it was a real life type of setting about a marine or something.

So long as you don't watch Stargate SG1 we can still be coo. :lol

Is this what it takes to make you happy, NBC? Something beautiful has to die?

welp tomorrow the next episode is finally going to air, on a goddamn saturday! fuckers!

anyway was this only planned as a one season series? i hope so so we can get a good ending instead of a stupid "cliff hanger" for life..
