Kojima is searching for a studio that will remake MGS1 in Fox Engine

So we'll get another Twin Snakes. Do not want.
Either do it in house or not at all - but after they remake MG1+2 and make the WWII Boss game first.

I can't believe people want the original voice work. Mei Ling and Naomi had cringe worthy and terrible inconsistent accents, respectively.

Oh well, nostalgia, I guess.

Did they do an updated render of Liquid?

Interested in updated graphics with old school gameplay. Not interested in a remade Twin Snakes. That has always been my stance on a MGS remake.

The levels are too small for anything else. Besides, the little bit of it in MGS4 kicked my ass, how the hell did I manage to beat that years ago?

Gotta say this would be great!! Everything I've seen of the Fox Engine has been amazing so far.. MGS4 brought back memories of why I loved MGS1 so much.. But a 1080p 60fps True (gameplay) Remake would just blow my mind..
The game that made me a true gamer and the series that I can't help but Love brought to Glory again.. Gotta Happen..
I get the worry that if its outsourced it might ruin it but I doubt that Kojima would let that happen with his new engine.

Dat Supernatural gif in OP

Also, MGS1 in the Fox Engine would be glorious. As long as, you know, a company who isn't shit were to do it.

please let that be the case. i have played ALL of them except the first one because i am not going out to buy an old system just to play it. really hope someone picks it up

Reason he's doing this:

Wants MGS1 in the style that HE made the games, and so that after MGSV comes out and he ends up making a game that covers Metal Gear 1 & 2, the entire saga will be payable in games that were made for HD consoles.

Edit: ugh, forgot about Portable ops, never played it due to it being on a handheld.

On one had, It'd be nice to have MGS1 in HD. On the other hand, this makes me wanna wait for the seemingly inevitable Super Duper Mega Deluxe MGS Legacy Collection Plus for the PS4 that includes MGS1 Re-Re-make and MGS5.

Edit: Also, paging David Hayter?

Really thinking about picking up Legacy Collection. Such a nice value that when I almost bought Snake Eater HD through PSN and did some research to see if there was another bundle I was instantly interested.

The Twin Snakes was awesome. I had no problems to the over-the-top cutscenes and it played great.

Have we ever had two remakes of one game before?

In this series? We've been handed Metal Gear Solid 3 more times than I want to remember. Reimaginings and revamps however, I think Twin Snakes is the only one that I'd qualify. The first two Metal Gear games kind of got some small alterations when they were released here, but that's about it. Closest thing is MGS3: Subsistence with its new camera I guess---but like I said...we've had enough f#$@!n MGS3...

Im still surprised MGS1 didn't get an XBLA/PSN hd up-res port. This is why I hope.

I like MGS, but don't really need this. I've played MGS1 and the sequence in MGS4 was nice, I don't need the whole game. Why can't developers make something new instead?

Oh god I hope if this does happen they replace Hayter.

I will drink the nourishing bitter tears of those that cry foul as they walk into gamestop to still purchase their copy.

Because they will. Oh yes they will, no matter how loudly they stamp their feet like a petulant child.

Why do you want them to ruin a classic like that?

Furthermore, your sadism isn't normal. You should see a therapist.

I hope the future of gaming isn't like Hollywood with the majority of games being remakes. This is without a doubt one of my favorite games of all time. But I don't really think it needs to be remade. I like it the way it is.

I'll take an MGS1 remake...would have preferred an MG1 and MG2 remake but I if im being honest...I've wanted an MGS1 remake since we returned to Shadow Moses in MGS4...However...Im still hoping that MGS6 and MGS7 are MG1 and MG2 told from Big Boss' perspective

Of all the crazy shit in the MGS universe, this is where you draw the line?

Yes, that thing bothered me, because in the original MGS there was a clear distinction between the shit the Ninja could do, and what Snake could do.
Whenever the Ninja was on screen, i would get excited because i knew he was going to do some crazy ass acrobatic.
In Twin Snake everybody does, and that ruins my fantasy.

Good day.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! CUM ALL OVER ME!!! DOO IT!
This.

Also, to all the people asking for MG1 & 2 remakes: I agree. However, remaking MG1 and 2 will take a lot more work than just remaking MGS1. The level design needs to be adapted for 3D, and IMHO, the story needs to be retconned to be only one game, which should take place in a place called Outer Heaven somewhere in Africa, and incorporate the key elements of both stories.

MGS1 is fairly manageable; they just need to update the graphics, rip-off the gameplay from MGSV(With a few modifications) and do motion capture for the cutscenes. Everything else should still be fine.

Solid Snake:

- On his first mission, he rescued Gray Fox, destroyed Metal Gear, and defeated Big Boss.
- In MGS, he came out of an early retirement, saved the pansy that is Otacon, defeated FOXHOUND single handedly, fought a fucking ninja and won, saved the world again by taking care of another Metal Gear, and beat the crap out of his British twin brother.
- In MGS2, he helped Raiden grow some balls (miraculous feat), sank a goddamn tanker, inspired millions, and he swam down a Metal Gear Ray. That's right. That's how insane his skills are. He swims fast enough to keep up with a machine.
- He also has an IQ of 180 and is fluent in six languages.

Whilst we don't know what happened with this great man beyond the events of MGS2, we know he's due for a return.

Also, fuck Kojima's hard on for Big Boss.

Big Boss's resume includes killing his own mother figure (good job you ungrateful twat), crying about killing his own mother figure, sexually assaulting some loli looking girl, getting his ass tortured by Drago, being put into a coma (jesus christ), growing a dick on his head, then having the shit beat out of him by his own student of CQC when he tried the whole grandmaster villain reveal. He also has difficulty speaking one language, let alone six.

'Oh, I was forced to kill The Boss. Oh cruel fate, how you have abandoned thee!!'

If only Solid Snake could go back in time and kill his crippled ass.

Meh, in my eyes that would be the same mistake Twin Snakes made. Shoehorning MGS2's mechanics into the exact same layout of the original game castrated the experience. I would not be opposed to them restructuring the entire detailing in relation to the layout of Shadow Moses, as long as we got the mechanics we're used to now to complement it (e.g. an actual third person action camera, first person shooting, etc.). If they're gonna go through the trouble of doing it, they may as well go all out.

It's likely we wouldn't get that though. If I want to play MGS1, I'll go play MGS1. I don't need what would really only amount to another graphical update for it.

This man speaks the truth.

Solid Snake > Big Boss.

Assuming they do this and they recreate MGS1 faithfully in the Fox Engine, won't it suffer from the same problems as Twin Snakes? Here's the thing, despite being lauded as the first 3-D Metal Gear game, MGS1 was designed in essentially the same way as the classic top-down 2-D Metal Gear games, except they used polygons instead of sprites. The problem that I had with Twin Snakes is that they shoe-horned in the 3D gameplay of MGS2 into MGS1, which was built from the ground up as a 2D game. It just doesn't play as well IMHO. So if they did this, I would hope that they would consider at least reworking the level design, but that might be seen as sacrilege.

They need to remove Metal Gear 1 and 2 (the old ones) from canon while simultaneously remaking them to fit the current canon in the Fox Engine. Then they should remake Metal Gear Solid 1.

Also, I kind of wish they could somehow patch Sutherland's voice into any and all scenes with Big Boss (although perhaps leave Richard Doyle's voice in since Big Boss is really old at that point). I just like consistency.

David Hayter would definitely need to voice Snake in the MGS1 remake though.

I don't mind those two at all, personally I *like* cheezy accents in the context of MGS. They had it right in MGS2, giving the Russian soldiers goofy Russian accents. Much better than the Russian soldiers in MGS3 and the middle easterners in MGS4 all sounding like guys who grew up in fucking Anaheim, CA. I've always been weirded out how everyone is so attached to Gray Fox's original voice. Dude sounded like Wheezy Jefferson. I'll take his TS voice any day.

Well, I thought
Shadow Moses in MGS4
played pretty well, so I'd say the layout of the levels is perfectly fine.

What might need tuning is the placement and movement patterns of the enemies. I wouldn't mind that, I just don't want them to change the "floor plan", so to speak.
