The game is way too far in development for that to be even a thing. Of course, I'm sure there'll be first person mechanics or something if you zoom into a sniper, but that's probably the extent.
Unless Kojima's pulling off some even crazier bullshit you can do with gadgets.
It would be the worst PR joke devised.
I could see Nintendo at the very least having a discussion with him about "stuff". He most likely wouldn't go for it but if he did the internet would be so amazing for like the next year... the meltdowns, the hype, the GAF threads

I think people misunderstand this hasn't taken effect at all yet. MGSV Is still near done and being work on by Koji. If you want to boycott something, don't make it TPP, make it anything else they do.

Do you really think Kojima's going to finance a new AAA game all by himself? We're talking about tens of millions of dollars here.It makes far more sense to co-develop a new game with a partner who'll finance (or co-finance) the development.

If you actually did any reading, you'd see that Kojima is bound by contract to MGSV and is then getting fired.
I won't say it's depressing. I play a lot of Japanese mobile games and while most of them are free-to-play, their game mechanic and business model behind it are quite rich and polished. Many games offer daily updates with new content, deep customization and character designs, or make use of the characteristic of mobile for some interesting gameplay connectivity.
Japanese mobile games are much further ahead than western mobile games. Many Western mobile games are still stuck with the console mentality and are trying to bring over what's in the console space into the mobile space but with touch control.
Sure, but no reason to do it while being tied down to any one company that isn't his own. They'd be independent agreements.

Outside of Kojima brandishing a katana at Konami execs while saying, "you will never make Metal Gear again now that I've quit!" I can't think of any reason to outright kill the golden goose that is excusable here.

Without knowing the full details of what went inside Konami, we can assume Kojima was fired because Konami didn't want to pay them, because he punched an executive in the face, or anything in between. My point is that it's too early to take any position on this matter.
What exactly is the punch line here? Especially since the Japanese VA is asking people not to cancel preorders.
I mean, I know Japanese humor is different than Western humor, but...I'm not getting the payoff.

Konami as a company stopped caring about making quality games years ago. Kojima hoovers up a lot of money developing MGS so they probably just thought enough was enough and decided to focus on love hotels/pachinko.
When they decided to release a $40 demo for MGSV it was clear something was up, probably the sheer scale of MGSV's budget scared them into firing him. They just don't want to spend that much money on games anymore.

Kojima likes toi prtetend he does not make MGS : always repeats it's his last one, etc... how could he say it again without being called out? Pretending he was fired.
Now what is the benefit of all this? Maybe it will put a huge focus on MGS5 at the E3... if it's a prank, people will talk about it for months... right before the game ships...

No, Konami's just done with the whole thing. They've cannibalized the last major artiste in the company. Guessing it's low budget, high profit from here on out, and there's one insanely popular way to do that.

I don't think Kojima could do an indie style game. He's all about big bombastic cutscenes, production values and all the little attention to detail. There is a reason Metal Gear games take 4+ years to make.
He probably has the clout to get a pretty good deal anyways. Maybe he forms a new "Kojima Productions" bankrolled by Sony/MS..retain the IP rights in exchange for X game deal exclusivity or something. I could see that happening.
Konami doesn't make the majority of their profit off of games so not really.
