Konami planning something for Castlevania's 25th anniversary.

I loved Judgment too. It was unbalanced as all hell but damn was it fun. Very solid Power stone like fighter with a great sense of humor. I wouldn't mind a sequel.

They already released the music box which is probably as good as were going to get. I would love a remake or sequel to CV64, a new classic style CV, or a CVIII remake but I doubt any of those has a shot at happening.

I'd love to see a massive collection of every CV game ever, on one blu-ray or multiple DVDs... one can dream, right?

Other than that, have Arc System Works make a 2D retrovania game... or even a 2D metroidvania game, taking place during the events of 1999.

At this point I'll be happy with anything as long as it's developed in Japan.

Didn't see anything on this matter.
Konami's saying:

So maybe it's something Wii related (probably Castlevania I-III)?

Why in the fuck would it be Wii related.
Do you really see Konami or anyone else making special effort to do anything for the Wii when even Nintendo has written it off?
God damn.

But this is great news, I love Castlevania and anything they bring will be fun.

Hey, all you Igarashi haters, don't worry. Konami has another hot steaming pile of overseas outsourced God of War imitation to satiate your old school Castlevania hearts.

Oh, what is that? Not exactly what you were looking for? Well be careful what you wish for because with Igarashi's SOTN outfit gone that is what Castlevania is now. Chow down.

Castlevania III 3D Classic on the 3DS.

I would give my left nut.

I would also give my right one for Super Castlevania IV 3D classic on the 3DS.

What the hell happend to Castlevania Harmony of Despair for PSN?

HoD for PSN and a new Castlevania from MercurySteam kthx!

Also I didn't know where you got the "Wii related" conclusion from.

I've got it collecting dust but from little I played of it was overly simple. IIRC onl one button was used in the game. I don't understand how something like Judgement can be greenlit when this would have been a perfect fit for Wii:

Castlevania: The Arcade Game

What I'd really like is another Japanese action game with their art direction, music & 60 fps. I know LoI and CoD were inferior to NG and DMC last gen but I still enjoyed them. The direction all of these series has taken is shameful.

what we should get:

rondo of blood or bloodlines sequel in gameplay. high res sprites, kojima art, all star castlevania composers. bonus: ps3 and vita compatibility like dragon's crown.

3d castlevania made by the best konami and team kojima employees. all star castlevania composers, kojima art.

what we will get
:

low res sprites over old assets with $80 DLC.

3d castlevania made by somebody who doesn't give a fuck about castlevania, because konami doesn't give a fuck themselves.

Just re-release the 19-disc sound box please

no chance, that box flopped rightfully. it was poorly compiled without proper research.

I was worried Konami wasn't going to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series. They released a game for the 20th (Portrait of Ruin) so I hope for another game.

And if Konami is going to give this series the port treatment like Silent Hill, Metal Gear, and Zone of the Enders, port The ARCADE to consoles. That's more appealing than games I can already buy for my systems, as it hasn't been released on a console or portable.

I don't really care what type of game it might be because actually really like all styles of Castlevania. I even dug Harmony of Despair on 360 multiplayer and really liked Lords of Shadows.

The only thing I don't want is a portable game or a Wii game. Just something For any/all HD platform and I'm happy.

Seriously if even Konami is making a party for the 25th year anniversary for Castlevania it's pretty clear Metroid is dead if they can't even bother making any party at all.
I mean come on it's Castlevania after all!
I guess it'll be too much to ask for a new handheld castlevania, downloadable hd games are the bane of the old franchise after all the raping they have been put through.
Seriously I think I prefer the treatment GoldenAxe got rather than Double Dragon :/

I personally think we've got enough handheld Castlevanias for the time being.

Don't get me wrong, I love them as much as anyone, I just think it's time to return to something along the lines of Symphony of the Night, delivered over XBLA / PSN. It's so much easier to appreciate the artwork on a large screen, and I'd much rather play with an Xbox controller.

What nonsense.
The last one was Order of Ecclesia and that was nearly 3 years ago. While we get Harmony of Despair,Adventure rebirth and Lords of Shadow on Consoles/PSN/XBLA/Wiiware during that span. It's a good time to have another handheld title.

A 2D game with that controller? Odd.

Vita/PS3 2D Castlevania please.

While this is something I could go for, if Konami is looking at sales to determine this, I think all of the portable entries on DS and PSP have done better than HD has on XBL. They've all sold over double that HD has (for example, Order of Ecclesia, the least selling Castlevania game on DS, has sold over 200,000 in the US alone where HD is close to 100,000 worldwide IIRC). That and making an all new game with new assets may be less appealing to Konami, considering those sales numbers.

I think their next step for a downloadable Castlevania will be one that's more in line with Adventure Rebirth or HD than another Order of Ecclesia. It's less costly, and safer to make money on.

I just hope it's a new game, and not a remake/retelling. Castlevania and Adventure are the only two that qualify remakes, as they were both the first console and portable entries in the series, respectively.

Dear god with horrible horrible dpad? or worse yet that analog monstrosity?

Seriously, I can't believe people are willing to defend the old 3D Castlevanias. Lords of Shadow was better than any of the 3D Catslevanias by a significant margin. Just because it's a "God of War clone" (which I think is just silly) doesn't detract from the quality of the game.

Have you never tried playing SotN on 360? The analogue stick works perfectly. It never felt weird or awkward at all, even after playing it through on the PS1 and Saturn first.

I've struggled through both Castlevanias on XBLA and the d-pad is practically useless, the analogue works, but you will often mess up a direction due to how unsuitable the stick is for that style of game.

Going from SOTN on a dualshock to a 360 controller is like going from hot water to cold water. ie: It's a shock to the system.

Hmm, I never encountered that. Guess we'll have to just disagree!

I remember the folks at Mercury Steam saying they can't get anything up for the anniversary and that the timing of the thing caught them off guard for any announcement. (It was on Twitter I'll go look for it in a tick)

Still, something announced for the Vita like a rom dump with leaderboards or SOTN with CO-OP would also be nice. :D

Analog on a 2D platformer is nightmares I tell ya. *grumbles at Limbo*

Ah found it, (I guess I had something else in mind when I pictured the tweets)

A new Igavania would be needed. Also Lords of Shadow 2!

That 3DS remake of the original game really doesn't interest me at all. Anyone else?

They should pull a Rayman Origins and release it on all portables and consoles.

Curse of Darkness was much better than LOS to me.
LOS is so...uneventful.And stupid.

Hoping for a new Metroidvania with remade sprites, it's time to let those Rondo of Blood assets rest a bit!

So much rage, and you don't even know what made him think that lol.

In the article, it mentions a fan-movement called "Operation Akumajo" and said it's efforts were in the vein of "Operation Rainfall". The OP misread this, thinking that Konami said that their plan was to be in the vein of OP Rainfall. So he assumed that the game would end up being a Wii Collection or something. When his error was pointed out, he edited out the mis-quote, but left his guess about what the anniversary thingy might be.

no, CVLoS just wasn't fun for me. I prefer Curse of Darkness actually.

Another Lords of Shadow plz. Let me see what MercurySteams been working on.
This. Lords of Shadow doesn't get the love it deserves. It may have had a handful of small annoying quirks, but it doesn't make the great parts any less great, IMO.
