Apparently Ubisoft seems to be working under the assumption that anything Anita Sarkeesian says is correct. From a gamer perspective we can expect their games to reflect that.

EDIT: Here is the first part of the leaked video:

That guy at 2:56 says:

It has to include using our platform and our cultural influence to take a stand, and to model inclusiveness for our players
Second video:

I love some of the quotes:
"Women don't count for 50% of game developers despite women being 50% of all gamers"

Yeah, because when males were called nerds all their life by those same women for playing games instead of doing something manly they also learned how to code and make games.

This needs to be updated every year:

They're putting out great games. Could care less if they're breaking stereotypes. All the better, time to engage with some surprising characters.
If this bullshit influences their games then it is a problem. I do not want a Rey Character in my games because they are boring as fuck.

Disgusting if true. Shambolic. Their white/men hating culture, all in the name of diversity, to shoehorn their propaganda was way too apparent in their recent changes. Anyone who's thinking about buying their game (if true) with their hard earned money should think twice about what they are contributing to.

I don't care, and I hardly ever buy their shit

Literally the last games I played from them were Rainbow Six Siege and Rayman

Apparently TheQuartering got some pics from an insider showing the material Ubisoft is using internally. Brad Glasgow is a journalist who is trying to find out more about it.
Ok. People in big organizations write all kinds of documents, saying all kinds of things. I'll be interested to know who the source of the quote is (their position) and the context. I don't want to jump to any conclusions about what "Ubisoft" thinks. It could be a single sentence in some obscure document.

This is hardly news. Their disclaimer prior to the first Assassin's Creed talked about "various faiths, beliefs, backgrounds, and cultures".

Are they "adopting her agenda" because they're working with her or are working directly with her written manifesto (or whatever these fake academics bandy around)? Or are they "adopting her agenda" because some of their talking points sounded similar to hers?

EDIT: There are documents leaked below in the thread that appear to directly reference Anita, so it seems like they are at least listening to her viewpoints and adjusting accordingly.

This disclaimer seems more like a do not hurt us we are diverse. I doubt this has anything to do with Anita.

Do you and others realize that Anita is not that only person that feels this way? It's not the Gospel of Anita Chapter 3, Verse 2. This is and has been common wisdom going on multiple years.

Game characters are generally boring any ways. For me it’s all about the game play. Very, very few game companies are any good at story and character development.

Don't make yourselves look foolish by overreacting to nothing. This is nothing, as it stands. So far they've introduced a gender choice into their latest game. Honestly, I'm surprised there's not been more backlash at the binary choice. What do you mean I can't be gender neutral in 431 BCE?!

Wisdom? I call it a bullshit lie because there is nothing proven about it. In fact a long term study done in Germany for over 5 years(?) has shown that there is no link between so called sexist games like Dead or Alive Beach volleyball, and sexist behaviour. We even have studies that show how a GTA release actually prevents crime

And mentioning Anita already triggers me if I am honest because she lied in her videos, she stole video material, she not only cherry picked she used gameplay material of little videos that show stupid shit. Oh and she played the perfect professional victim role. Sorry but no. She should be not bought up in these discussions at all. She even created this toxic atmosphere with her lies and propaganda videos to scam people into her kickstarter.

And before anyone ask yes she is a absolute red flag for me.

Hell she even wanted 35k for a fucking discord channel by playing the victim.

I will reject everything that uses Anita as good example. And yes this goes also for the Last of Us 2 and their racist and straight phobic hand picked actor role.

It isn't common and it is by no means "wisdom". However, I do agree with you that this is not an "Anita" thing. This is a general "far-left" thing. I am hoping that nothing particularly comes from it and the developers continue to make decent/good games that they want to make instead of trying to force change to appease some crazy demographic, but I won't hold my breath.

Let's be totally honest here, she is a nobody that's managed to make something from nothing.

Remember the more we feed into it, the more powerful she becomes... and if this is true then well... it explains a few bits..

I've given up on Ubisoft. I adored Assassins Creed last gen and up to Unity but Origins and Odyssey have convinced me that the Ubisoft formula of "lets just make a massive world and fill it with mundane content" has run its course.

Every game is just "big world with primary plot + side content" but the content itself is just boring and hasn't innovated since Unity.

The big open world game has been improved upon by other studios for several years at this point yet Ubisoft keep crapping out the same shit with slightly prettier graphics.

When I compare RDR2 to Odyssey I just laugh about how far behind Ubisoft has fallen in that genre.

Well, at least anyone at Ubisoft told us to not play their game if we dont like it.
They just introduced it in the game without making any noise, the story is the same, and anything in the game seems to have been altered in order to please a concrete group of people.

I'd say, GG Ubisoft.

i dont see how "stereotypes reinforce prejudice" is troubling. it's true. it's historically accurate. i guess if you are paranoid about feminists coming to add the option to be a woman in your murder simulator then it's a dogwhistle.

tbh it looks like some kind of slide from an internal HR presentation. every company on the planet has these kinds of documents. just last week we had to attend an internal presentation on workplace harassment. companies like to legally cover their asses. this isn't some grand conspiracy.

as for why she is specifically named, like it or not she is a massively popular personality. this does not change when people promote conspiracy theories about her, it only makes her more popular and more sympathetic.

also lol at leaking a document and then saying "confidentiality is guaranteed" who is this clown?

This is bad, first of all games (most of them, not competitive) tell stories. Videogames are the reflection when developers and creators tell stories, and ories are the manifestation of creativity, not the manifestation of an agenda. If a character work its most consistent with a woman as a protagonist, absolutely fine with me, an example? Aloy. If not, do not try to be "Multigender" because the story wouldn change if you choose male or female, an example? Fallout.

Blogs, and the press even are telling "please choose Kasandra" "Hey we can be a woman".....but that has been done before and worked better in Syndicate, because Eve and Jacob where totally diferent, Kassandra an Alexios are the same. (For what ive seen)

Anything forced always comes off as false to anyone with half a brain.

Corporate's hijacking social movements for profit and kudos, get hailed as pioneers by imbeciles with an agenda.

Where did I see that last? Nike... Suddenly everyone forgets their sweatshops.

As soon as Ubi starts getting hit in the pocket, you'll see them move in another phony direction. How about you just fucking make good games... how about that? No?

Glad to see Rockstar haven't taken the bait yet. If that was Ubisoft, we'd be seeing gender fluidity in the Wild West!

I'd tell any company that it's not good to directly quote or follow Anita in this type of way. I agree with lots of things that Anita says, but disagree in other ways. I really really disagree with the "way" Anita goes about speaking about things. And it's that reason alone that companies should step back from following Anita.

And you guys are tripping if you don't believe there aren't stereotypes that play out and show themselves in video games. And to think it doesn't affect the overall society is just silly. Wake up guys! Again I disagree with most of Anita's tactics, but there's no need to put your head in the sand about any real issues.

This is literally one of the greatest non-videogame things I've ever seen directly from a video game company in years! It makes me want to purchase Ubisoft games even more now (they still have to be good first). It honestly looks like they care about humanity in a way that they don't actually have to do (in a profit-driven world).

There is NO evidence of this so why should we believe it? If its proven in long term research studies then sure. But if has proven that there is no connection between game like Dead or Alive Beach and sexist behaviour than it is the turn for the opposition to disprove this.

It is like in the 70s when D&D was the big scapegoat and they told people that playing D&D makes you kill people. Or before that it was rock music. Before it was Elvis and so on. Show me concrete Evidence of this done by long term research studies and maybe then I will believe you otherwise no.

In fact many many people use video games like doom to calm down when they are upset or stressed out.

Real life is the evidence dude. Remember I live in America. Do stereotypes in games and any form of media make a person go from normal to a racist? No. But it does reinforce those beliefs if someone already has them. NeoGaf and other forums and Twitter prove this. No need for a research study to show the obvious.

I remember reading, somewhere, that the sheer quantity of Anita's examples was eye-opening to many developers. It's hard to come away from her videos and not think, "Yeah, we could probably use less of some of that."

Compulsory "diversity training" gets my hackles up fast (and that's what those leaks seem like to me), but I don't take issue with Ubisoft giving Anita's arguments consideration.

Sorry but no this is just my feelings over facts. It does not reinforce your believes of BLM when you play a black guy in Mafia 3 mass murdering KKK member and it does not enforce our views when you play or mostly having racist stereotypes in your games racist stereotypes.

And what Twitter proves is that Social media creates a very agressive and toxic atmosphere in people because they are confronted with ons of people shouting at once into a empty room you are sitting in.

As for gamers being highly anti feminnist and anti sjw these day. You can thank people like Anita for this atmosphere they have created. You can thank a Zoe Qiunn and all these gamers are dead articles, you can thank propaganda and agenda written articles often full of lies written by people who call themselves games "Journalists" who do not fullfil any kind of ethical standards a normal journalist would have. They are just fucking tired of this bullshit.

Just start buying more/play more games made in Asia.

The West is fucked when it comes to the social justice/diversity push, whereas the East doesn't care.

Ironically, you would also be supporting minorities too since Asians don't have "white privilege". It's a fact that will cause Feminists to reeeeeeeee for years.

I do not mind them. Everything is a trope or some kind of stereotype. Japanese games do this A LOT. Hell I love JRPGs and they are full of tropes and stereotypes. I also know and understand that popular tropes are tools to tell a story to create emotions etc.

So yes I guess I am Pro Stereoypes if they are done well. It is still more exciting then let us say Rey from Star Wars or the new Lara Croft in Tomb Raider.

Yakuza has one of the best writing in video games and it is full of stereotypes but they also have depth, they have reason, and they have a often cliche History that perfectly fits together.

edit: Hell I am German I have seen SOOOOOOO Many German sterreotypes as Villain in Movies but I really do not care because these are fictional chracters and not a representation of a whole nation/race etc.

I would so pay for a mod where you play as Anita in AssCreed Odyssey just to see the glorious anger tears. Need to buy more Ubisoft games. Still can't believe how long it took them to have full male/female choices in an AssCreed.
