If you don't watch his show, why get upset over something that has no effect on you?
He said why in the very post you quoted...

The problem is he doesn't watch Conan NOW when he needs all the viewers he can get. It really doesn't affect his life today. It doesn't matter if Conan is on or if a repeat of Law and Order is on. He won't tune in.

Jay Leno's show will be a half hour? That's not even a show...

They just want Conan to walk without having to pay him his $40 million, then Leno would get his full hour back.

Fox is reported to be interested in Conan but I'm not sure why they'd spend a huge chunk of change to get what would probably end up being a fourth place show (behind Leno, Letterman and Nightline).

Say you have an aunt that took good care of you when you were a kid. You liked her. You grew up, moved away, and lose touch. You haven't seen her for years. Something bad just happened to your aunt. Would you care? Should you?

Please. A relative versus a stranger? :lol Look people made their choice to tune out Conan and Leno. NBC is the real bad guy here. They wanted to keep both and now they don't have many options about honoring their poorly crafted contracts to both men.

How does "moving to midnight" "affect" Conan? He's still getting his 28 million a year (or is it every two years?). His show still would be called the Tonight Show. I see no real world affect from doing this, and in that 2 year period, he can continue doing what he does best, and Leno will have to walk.

The best news to come of this is that we get 9PM back to have shows like Kings get a chance.

Fox can give him a half-hour headstart. And it's a far different situation with Fox than it was when Letterman had to look at his options.

And on Fox, any ratings would be good ratings, because right now, they've got nothing in that time slot anyways.

Your only problem would be affilate clearance - I don't know if you could guarantee the high numbers Tonight gets.

Conan's new show sucks. If you're a fan of his, you should want him to leave and get a new setup. One where Richter is back on the couch... I don't care how much you like his current show, Andy Richter is a terrible announcer and having him stand there the whole show is just goofy.

Richter is back on the couch. Watch the show some more before you criticize it.

The problem is he would be following Leno again. Something that he probably doesn't want to do. Conan could probably be more daring with his skits at 12:05, but I think he wants Leno to go away.

Leno's show would be gutted, it would most likely be a monologue show with either music or a short interview, and in the end, will not be able to last. All Conan has to do is run it out. He will win. If he walks, he loses The Tonight Show label, and the godly amounts of money he's getting. I would frankly be shocked if he walked.

He really is losing nothing whatsoever by moving forward 30 minutes. The business world does not operate like the egos of forumgoing fans.

Holy shit. He really came out well. "I gotta sit down for this!" :lol

I hope things turn out well. I won't be mad at a 12AM slot really. Since my TiVo doesn't care when the fuck the show is on. Plus, a half-hour Leno will give me more time to watch/do other things.

Shit, I forget exactly. A joke about NBC finally figuring out what to do. They'll have Conan follow Leno. Andy reacted hilariously, saying they'd have to rewrite the history books.

Hulu it tomorrow.

Edit: Holy shit. This Michael Cera interview just got all kinds of crazy. :lol :lol :lol

I don't know what is up with his hair. So weird. Also, lol, Haley Joel Osment did play Peewee in that movie he mentioned.

The dancing was amazing.

Which thread am I supposed to post in? I hate when there's two active threads talking about the same thing.

Agreed - I think we should abandon this one and head over to the original.

He's still the announcer. And he sucks at it.

He's no 'Stuttering John' but he's doing the best he can with his limited ability. Not everyone has the natural charisma of John Melendez, give the guy a chance!

And watch the show you're trolling every now and then so you don't look like a stupid, uninformed douche

Those shows didn't stand a chance back when the format was the way it used to be, so why do you think they'll get a chance now?

It's still the same incompetent people at the top (Zucker, namely) and until those people go, then the network is going to continue to suck. They didn't fuck Kings, Studio 60, Black Donnelly's, etc over because of Leno. They did it before hand. And shows like Chuck and Friday Night Lights aren't on the rope because of him either.

Until NBC removes the people at the top, they'll continue to be a joke of a network, only a shadow of what they once were.

Also I read that Conan's contract says they can start him as late as 12:05 eastern. Most of the shows are taped anyways so it's not like it has a huge impact on him physically. But I guess that if they bump him past 12:05am, then he can walk AND NBC still has to pay him every cent he's owed, while he goes and gets a new show.

On the bright side, having a half hour lead-in to Conan, by Leno, could actually do wonders for his viewership. OR it could blow up in his face. who knows.

man conan's sick as fuck, i'm totally depressed about nbc's fuckery now. i suppose i shall go where conan goes!

Watched tonight and he stood at the podium the first half hour. It's not the same as the early days.

What part of first half-hour don't you understand? Basically, I think it's awkward for him to be the announcer and standing at some podium.

If you prefer this over the original way Richter was used on the show, fine. That's what I'd like to see.

I'm surprised people still watch these shows. I'm all for a good interview without some unfunny person cutting in every other word.

EDIT: Ninja scooter, your avatar kills me. :lol

Wow if im understanding all this correctly (and the information is accurate) Jay Leno is a huge baby bitch.

You are not understanding this at all.

Leno has nothing to do with NBC and Conan. They are friends. Hell, Leno is even friends with Jimmy Kimmel (or at least they are on good enough speaking terms and have even done each others show). Leno has talked shit about NBC for a long ass time.

I hate to be one of the few defending the unfunny chin guy (cause honestly, on the laugh factor, he isn't a 0, but he is well below average imo).

We should all just hope Fallon gets kicked out :\

Screw you man Conan has the only watchable show between the four NBC late night shows.

Going just with NBC shows, Conan is really the only one worth a shit at all.

Fallon laughs more at his own jokes than people who probably claim to be 'fans'

Same as his stint on SNL then, huh? Though he has a cool ass intro, and I love The Roots.

If I was Conan, I would ask to return to NYC

I wouldn't. I and my staff have already committed to moving all the way to the other side of the country. I'd ask for me and my people to be heavily compensated.

Conan SUCKS don't know why people think he's funny.
Maybe because he is great at improvising, have great interaction with his guests, don't just read off a script, he is great at writing etc etc

I think everyone's concentrating too much about what this means for Conan when the real impact is on Jay Leno. The Tonight Show's going to be the same as before, only later, while the Jay Leno Show is essentially being butchered. The show is now only 30 minutes long which doesn't leave much time for much at all. I remember Jay Leno did an interview last year where he said NBC initially wanted him to do a 30 minute show, but he refused and then was offered an hour. So yeah....

If you would read, pretty much no one is backing Jay.

No one on the planet likes Jay, so he can GTFO.

The problem is that Conan will still be the follow up to Jay instead of the lead program. That is where the problem arises. When Leno got the 10pm show it felt like a slap in the face to Conan. This I think is even worse because now they move Conan back.

Leno's show may be butchered and shorter, but he is still the lead off program, which is what Conan was supposed to be with The Tonight Show.
