Lets see your Game of the show

I'm going to limit this to games I actually played. That automatically eliminates Fallout 3, which looks amazing. Also, though I did play the combat demo of Fable 2, I'm not going to count that. It's my most wanted game but I haven't experienced actual gameplay scenarios yet.

Which leaves me with...

I guess it's because PS3 and Xbox360 votes are divided over several games, while for the Wii SMG is THE game most are looking forward to. Just an observation.

Really?

I see Ninty votes going between Prime 3 and SMG, with SMG clearly leading
I see Sony votes going between Killzone 2 and LBP, with LBP clearly leading (*edit - seems thay are tied now :lol, but adding both of them wouldn't create a "landslide" anyways so it doesn't matter much*)

I see MS votes going between Mass Effect and Rock Band, with Mass Effect clearly leading

so yeah my observation is a little different...

Actually, I think Smash 'may' have gotten more votes if they showed anything. Well, that's what happened last year, anyway.

One vote for Prime says you're wrong but yeah, there's a sharp dropoff after the top four.

Is there really no other planet-hopping game though? Bleh if true.

i think a LOT of it has to do with childhood nostalgia
Hey, I'll be honest and freely admit that nostalgia plays a big factor in my fanatical anticipation for Mass Effect. Watching that Gamespot demo the other night was just like being a kid again, when the folks took me to see Star Wars for the very first time. Since that night, I've been patiently waiting to play a game that recaptures that same magic from sitting in the theater, and watching this incredible reality set in a science-fiction universe unfold. Games like KoToR were a step in the right direction but, up until now, the technology just wasn't there to create something truly believable.

Well, the time has finally arrived and I couldn't be more excited. Real, digitized actors, each with their own personality and character traits. A revolutionary conversation system that allows you to express your thoughts and emotions on the fly, even if it means rudely interrupting an 8 foot tall alien with a bad attitude. Exploration of hundreds of worlds, all layered with a ridiculous amount of detail.

Even without the nostalgia factor, Mass Effect would be a great game in its own right... but for us children of the 80's, it's like a dream come true.

My game(s) of the show is a tie between Little Big Planet and Super Mario Galaxy. They were both tremendously impressive.

Well yeah, that was kinda the point i was trying to make :D

Ratchet? @_@

How about MGS 0 votes? Guess cutscene trailers dont cut it anymore. And what about Crysis?

Oh yeah, I didn't even notice that no one had voted for MGS. I guess Killzone stole it's thunder. Absence of Crysis isn't that surprising since there doesn't seem to be very many PC gamers on the boards.

Was Left 4 Dead at the show? I'm hyped for it, but I haven't seen an E3 coverage of the game.

Going to be an awful lot of cries for help over mics when that game comes out.

"Help!!! There is a zom.. there are 5... there are 10... omg, help!!!!"

Super Mario Galaxy

Haven't been this excited about a game since Super Mario Sunshine (even though that one turned out to be kind of a disappointment...oh, well.).

That's like calling Kingdom Hearts a planet-hopping game.

I dunno i never played it. I just heard somebody say that Mario galaxy was unoriginal because Ratchet did something similar @_@

i don't know then

SMG looks awesome, but I'm still hesitant to commit to it 100% after the trainwreck that was Mario Sunshine. I'll stick with a wait-and-see approach for the time being.

CoD4 gets my vote, followed by Assassin's Creed.

Little Big Planet. I'll probably buy a PS3 this year because of it.

The finished game will not actually be released for a year, though. Still, I had the same reaction. This and Echochrome are impossible to resist.

I'm not digging out pics, but you've seen these before by now, anyway.

Winner: Super Mario Galaxy

It can't be helped. What they showed was an absolute knock-out. It looks better than every other Wii game, even those unreleased that we've seen so far. (Sorry, Brawl, you still look fantastic though!) It has a charm and imagination that the Mario series has been sorely missing. It makes grown men and women wide-eyed with wonder. It makes me a little sad that Nintendo's pushing away from making games like it and Twilight Princess, when they do it so well.

Runner-up: Call of Duty 4

I usually don't care much about shooters. I care even less about the Call of Duty series. But the detail, and the animated motion, and the intelligent narrative/dialogue... things just had a "punch" that caught me off-guard, staring at the TV while it showed. It generated a lot of interest from me, in a genre and particularly in a series I don't play heavily, so it deserves props for that.

Galaxy...I feel like a little kid when I see the videos. Most hyped game for me in a long time.
